  1. I believe he meant with bottom end power. His engine is set up for awesome low end grunt. You have several options with the 4mil: Short rod with your current pistons and a spacer plate or cut domes/rechambered head Long rod wth 795series pistons and a spacer plate or cut domes/rechambered head And all of the same porting types avaialable for the stock stroke. Added hp accross the board and a more broad usable power band. Plus if you do the chambered head or stroker domes...who has to know??
  2. +1 for thier parts, couldn't tell you about thier motor work though. HJR is more local to you and would have a better turnaround time. But, Jeff is an excellent guy to deal with and does great work as well if you don't mind the wait. I buy a lot of parts from Jeff and his prices are second to none.
  3. He's in UT. Hey Duneman, I may be interested...was lookin at that one on KSL a couple of days ago.
  4. Mild porting/T-5's, I'd have stayed with the stockers to be honest. No bigger than a set of 33's. You may have some luck trading your 35's for some smaller carbs.
  5. It all depends on who does the porting. I can match a nice play/dune port to your FMF's and give you a very strong but smooth power band with decent low to mid power. Should put you somewhere around 60hp. But I won't port an engine that is past its half life on cylinder bores, I feel it is bad business to let a customer spend that kind of money on a worn out set of cylinders. I like for my customers to get as much life from the portwork as possible for thier money. -slo
  6. Well, we're planning to be there at present. All depends on year end finances if ya know what I mean.
  7. Exactly what I was thinkin. Tightening up the squish will improve bottom to mid performance, a loose squish clearance is fine for a bike intended for high rpm drag racing ect.
  8. "Wide F@#%ing Open" Great for any type of riding that requires a lot of HP and speed.
  9. Depends on your definition of trails, fast trails will be fine with CPI's. My mods are in my sig and I even hit some slower trails once in a while. I also think that for a stock stroke/cylinder setup, the stock carbs will do just fine...they are very under-rated. You'll likely see more gain switching the pipes than the carbs, either one will gain more top end and loose some in the bottom. If you do go the 4mil route then you will deffinately want to look into some larger carbs. Who did your portwork?? There is likely a substantial amount of power to be had from some more aggressive porting as well(aslo a gain in top loss in bottom power). As far as your compression is concerned, that is a very good number for a play/drag engine. Any more compression will hurt your over-rev. As far as the reeds are concerned, for a stock stroke/cylinder setup I usually recommend ported stock cages and aftermarket petals...The VF's won't net you much gain for the cost. As far as the mods supporting a 4mil, they are pretty much the same mods needed to support a stock stroke of the same style porting. Just my .02 -slo
  10. I think this is going to be an ongoing debate as long as banshees' exist. I don't think that any one reed is best for all engines or applications. Ported stockers with the right pedals may be better on one engine and V-Force3's on an other. Only way to know for sure is to try them all for your application unless someone else allready has . Personally I run the ported stockers with aftermarket petals in them, mostly because I can't justify the price of the V-Force for the gain. Would I like to try some VF's....sure, when I can get my bike on the dyno, I plan to try out both setups and run which ever one my engine likes the best.
  11. His will get you from start to finish for now. But, putting your quad into the 80hp range will cost you less than half what it will cost him to get the same results Once you both start doing mods, your banshee mod for mod will start making more power than his yfz. Just a simple mod like pipes will put you ahead of him after the hole-shot, which he will still have the advantage....for now. A lot will depend on rider skill as well, race him and see. -slo

    domes

I have a set of brand new 20cc noss domes on the shelf for $55 plus shipping. Let me know -Brandon
  13. Pull the clutch cover off and have a look. More than likely you smoked the clutch trying to feather it in a high gear.
  14. It takes a lot of welding and expensive machine work to "detune" lower the ports. They won't make the same kind of peak power as a standard cub. I've never done one, but I have heard of them. Personally don't know why someone wouldn't just go with the cheetah and save themselves the expense if that's what they're after.
  15. Just sold him a Wildcard Racing (Noss) cool head. Payment was recieved with no hastles. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again! -slo
  16. Recently bought a set of PT mids from me, very good to deal with. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. -slo
  17. Sold a set of stroker domes to him. No hassles at all with the payment. Great buyer. -slo
  18. s-350 purchased my coolhead, very smooth transaction. Very good buyer. Absolutely look forward to doing business with him again. -slo
  19. I'm not to big on spacers up front, I'd recommend going with the deeper offset wheels...a little more solid IMO
  20. They will weld in the gouges and bore it then re-plate it. It usually cost around $300 to have a set of cubs done, but if it needs welded and bored then it will be a little more.
