  3. An overbore doesn't generally require a re-jet, depending on why it's being rebuilt. Are you just freshening it up, or did it burn down? You say your jetting is stock, are there any mods done to your bike?
  4. what size wrench do your lug nuts require?
  5. Just like the title says, chainwhacked, cracked it doesn't matter. I just need an upper case that someone is willing to send for shipping. Thanks, slo
  6. Before you go spewing, you may want to educate yourself a little. You need to look at who the majority leaders were in congress during those years, the president really has very little effect on the economy or the national debt. He is just a figure head to take the blame for the problems of this country. Environmental regulations (Pushed by liberal "democrats"), Unions, OSHA regulations ect. have been whittleing away at our economy for years pushing industry out of our country. It is to the point where we are an entire nation of consumers, we need to have a product to have a healthy economy. You really need to look at the big picture...You enjoy riding your banshee, it's liberal "democrat" backed organizations such as Greenpeace that would like to take that right away as well. I could go on for days about politics, but my point is you may want to study a little...Before you make a list of proposed bills that each candidate voted for or against, find out the entire contents of them such as riders. There may have been some good reasons for the way they voted. Most bills that go before congress will have attached "riders" that may have absolutely nothing to do with the intent of the bill.
  7. I would contact Dan Hull at A&S, he is the only builder that I know of that has had any real success making them run right.
  8. You need to address the slide sticking issue, did you put the slides together properly...the hole in the slide cannot be covered by the retainer. But, it sounds to me as though you also have an air leak. I would suspect the reed gaskets since that's one of the items you have had off.
  9. I'd keep your plastics you have now if they're not too !@#$ed up. Have Kiel (theshee) do a custom paint job on them, it'll end up looking better and cost less than replacing them. That is if they are still doing paintwork, haven't seen much of him around lately.
  10. You could, but you really wouldn't be gaining anything. I think you'd be more happy sticking with your stockers. The largest I'd put on a stock stroke trail ported engine are 28's. Those 36's are just way too much carb for your bike.
  11. Well, where do I start? If you want to build a 421 cub then you'll need a set of 68mm CP cheetah cub cylinders and a +4mm crank, not the vito's cylinders. The Vito's cylinders do look as though they should have some pretty good potential with a nice port job, but I haven't had the opportunity to mess with any yet. As far as the Chariot head, yes it will work for your application, your dome size will depend on your altitude. The Chariot head uses Pro-Design or Noss style domes so they will be easy to find. You will need to also select a set of domes that have been cut for whatever bore your cylinders have. What kind of riding do you generally do?? This is important because a cub is not the best for trails, it is more of a drag or aggressive dune oriented cylinder.
  12. any hardware or nut/bolt store will have them, 1/2" nc is a very common size. You may even find one you don't have to cut
  13. I didn't suggest that he shouldn't tune the needle and the pilot. I agree, if the needle is lean you'll be chasing main jets all over with no success.
  14. I doubt you'll see it require over 330-340, do a plug chop.
  15. Much cheaper to buy one that's allready built than to build one from scratch, just make sure it has been good quality work done by a reputable company or builder. Also make sure that the mods done will suit your riding style as there are soooo many different ways to build a shee. Look for one that has been well maintained. And, one common problem that comes to mind is chain whack, the rear portion of the upper case will be broken above the drive sprocket. Post up what you find on here and I'm sure the members will help you decide if it's a good deal or not. Welcome to the HQ. Good luck and happy hunting.
  16. All depends on the quality of the motor swap and how the engine and bike have been maintained.
  17. 240 main is about right. Needle on 3rd (middle) clip, 25 (stock) pilots and 1.5 -2 turns out on air screws. Make sure the carbs are synced and do a plug chop to verify jetting. You can do a search on the jetting and exhaust forum to find out how to do this, I believe the plug chop post has been pinned.
  18. That's a hell of an engine, almost bullet proof. Probably one of the most powerfull factory air cooled 250 engines made. It has a steel sleeve. Be a pretty good sleeper.
  19. What are your mods and elevation?? Your main jet will have very little effect on your low-mid jetting/performance.
  20. You should be at @290 to 300 mains at sea level and as low as 280's at 1000', needle in 3rd clip, 27.5 pilots 1.5-2 turns out on air screws.
  21. So you're looking for a set of "cases".
  22. Crank the preload aduster up and put some taller tires on it.
  23. Just be careful not to kick it over too far. The billet ones don't have the little tab on them to stop the kicker from rotating over too far, that's why they get all beat up.
  24. I've got some I'll send ya for shipping. PM me to work out the details. Some people run 3 or more HD springs in their clutches to avoid clutch slippage, downfall is that it makes the clutch pull very stiff.
  25. Sorry to say, but most if not all used car dealerships I know of will only cover anything of this sort for 15-30 days after the sale of the vehicle. Anytime you buy a used vehicle "buyer beware". It sucks bad, but there's likely nothing you can do if they're not willing to work with you on it. Always a good idea to have a reputable mechanic do a thorough inspection on any used vehicle purchase. Good luck.
