Pro Circuit to Shearer/CPI with dune port
Wildcardracing replied to glamisaurus's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I think you'd appreciate the CPI's over the Shearers for your described application. The Shearers would be a good pipe for a guy who drags most of the time and only dunes occasionally. -
I'm a jjanda dealer and can get you good pricing on thier products. Are you just looking for a bar or an integrated bar/stem combination? -Brandon

Kevin at HJR is the one who has set them up that way if I'm not mistaken...his screenname on here is KEVSWS6 or you can click on his banner at the top of the page and get him that way. -Brandon

So many different motors so little time!
Wildcardracing replied to wizeass2005's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Pretty good advice there to be honest. But if you insist on a bigger motor like a twister, DM or DMX ect. you're going to have a lot of work done to fit the crank/cylinders in your stock cases. They will need welded/epoxied, trenched and bored...some cylinders will require adding to the case deck as well. Mattoon Machine makes billet cases to fit the popular cylinders and big strokes right out of the box. When you build and engine of this calibur it's a package purchase...not really something you can add to here and there and ride in between. In other words your stock motor bolt ons don't fit and you're going to want to just get the transmission built with billet second and the billet basket with straight cuts right off the bat. Build it right the first time and try to avoid costly breakage. -
I've got a set of stock heel guards here I'll send you for the ride. -Brandon

lol, I don't think that will be a problem at all! Never had a yfz outrun one of my dune 4mils....even have a couple 535 acohol burners at the mountain:)

Re-sleeving ported cylinders
Wildcardracing replied to Rsbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
66mm bore would put you at 369.5cc 68mm bore would put you at 392cc -
lol, click on the banner in my sig and check out my porting prices. I think they are a pretty hot deal when you consider the amount of gain you'll see for your dollar spent.

I really like the CPI's with a dune port, they do well for drag racing or recreational dune riding and as said above are a little more forgiving than the Shearers. The T-5's don't pull out quite as far as the CPI's but have a very nice power curve to them, they would be great pipes for the recreational dune/fast trail rider. I can get either of these pipes and like them both. What type/types of riding do you use the bike for?
-
I'd recommend contacting a banshee specialized builder rather than your local machine shop. Yes the cubs can be spendy by the time you get them set up right, but so will a stock cylinder drag port....It will require the same supporting equipment. What mods do you currently have?
-
Going from a stock crank to a 58 stroke 115 rod crank will increase your transfer open time @6 degrees per equal deck to port roof measurement in the 120-130 transfer range. I personally wouldn't recommend transfer durations much over 130 degrees for most applications. That being said, you could get away with re-porting a bike with 194 deg or less transfer timing for a 4mil but the motor is not likely to rev out as high as the previous stock stroke setup. Most dune type ports will have 124 plus degrees of transfer duration. If you run too much transfer time, or too little blow down time you will typically end up with an engine that makes good power in the midrange over a short rpm range and falls on it's face early. But as Dave said, call the builder who did your cylinders and ask them...their defenition of a dune port could be different than mine.

When I say bolt on, I mean that someone with enough tools to disassemble/re-assemble their motor and the mechanical aptitude to do so can simply bolt on a cub set up up to a 421cc without any major machine work. I aggree that the cases should definately be port matched to the cylinder to get optimum results. By supporting mods I mean, as cam mentioned...clutch/transmission upgrades, pipes, carbs, reeds, head/domes and some chassis components. Your supporting mods will depend on what size cub, fuel and specific application of the engine. Retail on the cubs is $875 for up to 61mm stroke and $975 for 64mm stroke up. That is for a plated cylinder un-ported. PM me if you'd like to know any more. -Brandon
-
None taken Dave, you're right...I shouln't have said that with such absolutness. But, I've yet to ever see a set of stock stroke "dune" ported cylinders that had low enough transfer ports to be re-worked for a 4mil. -Brandon

Re-sleeving ported cylinders
Wildcardracing replied to Rsbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Any of the builders on this site should be able to accomodate that: M&M, HerrJugs, FAST or myself. -Brandon -
Cheetah Cubs are an aftermarket cast monoblock cylinder that with a few supporting mods bolt right on. They are good for around 80hp right out of the box with the right pipes/carbs/tune. Add some porting and some methanol and push it over 100hp. As for your question on cooling. Good coolant, propper jetting, propper fuel for your compression ratio and a billet impellor should cool it off just fine.
-
Depending on what your transfer duration is right now, you may not be able to go to a 4mil. If the current porting is mild you might be ok.

Looks great JD! Now I need one with a clamp to mount to a work bench:)

Bump for a sweet lookin bike and a good dude. Don't hesitate to deal with Brenten...guy wouldn't even let me ship his parts back till I'd recieved 100% payment. Not too many guys that honest around these days. This engine was set up for a very linear mid to top curve, could easily be duned or dragged. -Brandon

Please welcome yet another new site sponsor...
Wildcardracing replied to locogato11283's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Thanks for the banner bud! I still owe you something for it...the old one was boring lol. I'm very happy with the new one. Thanks to everyone for the welcome, I think this site will be a good one to sponsor. Been thinking on putting my banner at the top for a couple of years now. -
We have a special on the 102 spread Mattoon billet cases running through the month of December. They retail for $1995, this month we are offering them for $1800 if purchased alone, $1600 if purchased as part of an engine build. PM me or call for details! -Brandon
