  1. And I almost bet if he took a pic of the intake side it doesnt look like a stock banshee cyl either, more like a 250r style intake (cub style), lots of welding and porting on the intake side also. Or, being chad did it, it may be an oval port intake. But that one I would bet more on the 250r style. Geez the work we used to have to do to go fast..lol
  2. Chad spent some time in the pokey but he is around and does some work here and there. And yes that is chad on the cover of that dirt wheels. Chad started with Jim duncan(JD racing) then when out on his own later after jim got out. I have actually set up quite a few of those in the past myself. Alot of time and work. Matter of fact I still have a few sets of sleeves to do that setup. People didnt start doing triple ports till the late 90s early 2000s.. you can make as much if not more power with a properly ported single exhaust it's just hard on pistons cause it wants to shove the piston through the exhaust port.
  3. Cub or serval is going to make more power all the way through on most of those old builds(there where some over achievers that would walk on a cub of the same size, but very few) problem with the old school stuff is limited transfer volume. They would also break out around the outer rear cyl studs. And crack around the transfer ports. But in the day that's what you had to do to be the fastest on the hill..
  4. Alot more then people are willing to pay for these days. Well over $2k to set up those cyls. Transfers are welded, Intakes welded, bore and resleeve, weld up and remachine head studs, weld up and remachine head, tons of porting, weld up front water jackets, plate and weld top of cyl for the taller sleeve(some where a sleeve that stuck out of the top with a special head to accept sleeves, but this one looks like the welded plates on top of the cyl).. ect.. so a SHIT TON of work
  5. Wow now that brings back memories..lol Yep that is an old school set up for sure. And probably is a holeshot set up. Was pretty popular with the older shops before after market cyls where avalible. If your in the Portland area contact Louie @ Twister he could probably just recut the domes in that head even if they are not removable probably be around $100. He is very fimilure with all the old school stuff.
  6. Nice choice on harnesses.. the EVOs are comfy
  7. If your talking about the dampening washer you only need 2 one in front and one in back
  8. I would bump the main down to a 320. 340 is pretty big for a stock bore/stroke motor. Fuel will bleed by the needle and main causing a low end stumble. Jmo
  9. Like I said I know the front are c-clip but cant remember what the rear is but I know I've tried it before and it didnt work (and look clean) but I could be wrong
  10. No.. the shearer's bolt on and the toomies are held to the stinger with a c-clip of I remember correct (I know the silencer tip is held on with a c-clip)
  11. Oregon dunes will be perfect weather and always a good time.. stay at boxcar and can go crabbing right out of your camp. And hell your builder would probably even come ride with you. I know me and green would come meet you!
  12. That is way to lean!! Go to a 152 main, 48 pilot, JJH in the middle, 1.5 turns on the air screw and start tuning from there.. jmo
  13. Yep run a tether for a kill switch and a toggle for lights
  14. First off get bolts 5mm shorter than stock(the stock bolts are ment to bottom out so not to squish the plastics, as time goes on they bottom out and that's what causes the nuts to strip in the plastic) Second.. drill around the brass insert with an 1/8 drill bit, find some similar plastic, heat around the insert with a torch until the plastic starts to melt and fill with the other plastic material(plastic weld). Works pretty goid

  16. Alot of guys use different ratios to compensate for gearing. But it also has alot to do with clutch basket speed and clutch tuning.
  17. First off that seal is in backward. I've had some cases chamfered like that and some not. But when they are it is both cases. Check the #s on the back of the case(by the breather) and make sure the cases are a matched set
  18. On a direct drive polished cover sand the water neck. Also look at the bottom of the water neck and make sure the casting meets up(sometimes the castings a little of and needs addressed), that will cause issues also. Especially with the silicone hose
  19. Unscrew your spark plug boots and cut them back about 1/2" and screw boots back on(better to replace boots). If that doesn't help replace the coil(coil is probably the issue, but boots is a cheaper place to start) jmo
  20. Depending on how far they have been ported they may not work real well with a 4mm. It will have a real peaky top nd and light switch power. Also slide the modquad head over the cylinder and flip it upside down and take a look. Alot of them the outer prong sticks out side the cyl in the back inside corner causing sealing issues.
  21. Dont go on his website cause it's from the 1960s.. go on eBay and type in mattoon machine.
  22. Mattoon machine makes a standard and light weight stator cover
