  1. My crank came apart on a bone stock except for pipes bike. It wa a 89 that I bought brand new and had it less than a year. It is now the first thing I do to EVERY Banshee that I buy. On the 89 it cost over 700 bucks just to repair the damage, I should have spent the 100 bucks on a true and weld and then I could have spent 600 on go fast stuff instead. Live and learn.
  2. I will always remember my trip to Glamis in March, but now I am trying to figure out when and how I am going to get back there again.
  3. To use the 1990-on calipers, you have to have the 1990-on spindles, and yes they are direct swap. From what I have heard the early YFZ450 calipers are a bolt on IF you have the 1990- on spindles.
  4. It does not produce any more wattage than it did stock, from what I have read you actually lose a little wattage because of the way the rectifier converts AC into DC. But if you have a battery on it, you can probably run SLIGHTLY bigger lights off the battery at night and it will fully recharge the battery during daytime riding. It does not change the spark in anyway as the ignition circuit is completely seperate from the lighting/charging circuit which is the part(circuit) that is being modified. What kind of battery is in your golf cart? If it is the traditional 6V deepcycle, then no it will not. If it is a 12V battery similar to a motorcycle, ATV, or lawnmower battery then it would probably work.
  5. Here is the link to Trail Tech's website directly-http://gallery.trailtech.net/media/instructions/lights/stators/AC-DC_Banshee_Stator_Conversion_Instructions.pdf. Dirt Wheels took the info and copied it almost word for word from them.
  6. The parting line of the case halves should line up with whatever you want your timing to be.
  7. Break it down and blow the sand out of the beads, reseat the beads and you will be good to go. I would NOT use a sealer until you have tried this because bead sealer is messy. I have been able to fix all my bead leaks this way except 1 that the rubber was tore on the edge of the tire.
  8. I would recomend just buying a NEW spacer so you get maximum bearing life. My first set of axle bearings lasted for 6 years. When I replaced them, I reused the spacer and I put in 4 sets of bearings in 3 years time. I finally bought a new spacer and put in a new set of bearings with it and I got another 6 years out of that set. It turned out that my old spacer had wore slightly and was slightly shorter than the new one so I was sideloading my bearings and they were failing prematurely.
  9. Yes the spindle are a direct bolt on. But the early caliper actually has a bigger brake pad for better fade resistance. So I would either stay with the early calipers and pads, OR I would put a set of late style Banshee spindles on and then put a set of early YFZ450 calipers on them. The YFZ calipers are dual pistons and they are supposed to be a direct bolt on to the late Banshee spindles.
  10. NO, not unless you put the 1990-2006 spindles on it.
  11. X2, that is what mine did when the regulator went shithouse.
  12. Since everything in the picture LOOKS tight, I would check to see if the whole clutch assembly is loose or wobbling on the shaft- look for a loose nut holding the basket/hub on or if the bushing in the basket is loose/wore or if there are missing washers.
  13. Heat it, use a bearing knife and a press. If that does not work split the spacer with either a cutoff wheel or a torch.
  14. I use an expanding collet and a slide hammer, but they are expensive to buy. As a professional mechanic I have an extensive collection of tools at my disposal. Maybe you can find someone to pull it for you.
  15. I bought one of his original designs about 5 years ago and put it on the wife's bike. While it is well made, it is kind of crude in the details- edges and corners could have been rounded off better, while the welds are first rate the way it is made could have been better thought out so it would look nicer. We have had no problems with it and it does exactly what we bought it to do.
  16. Is it compatible with wet clutches? If it is not, I would not even use it to flush the cases.
  17. No, that is the aiming screw. If they are the early glass lenses, the guards should pop off with a screwdriver. If they are the later plastic lenses, you have to replace the entire outer ring or if you don't want them on there just cut them off with a cutoff wheel and smooth up the edges.
  18. I tied a Vapor on my bike and had problems with it wanting to reset all the time. I even had the bike to Trail Tech twice and they could not figure it out. As a result they GAVE me a Vector and let me keep the Vapor. The Vector has worked flawlessly for 5 years now. The difference is that the Vector has no tach in it. While I was trying to get the Vapor working, I decided that the tach was to hard to use when you were bouncing around the dunes and trails. When I mentioned that to Trail Tech, they said they would give me a Vector if it was OK with me, I said yes.
  19. From what I have heard, you will get SOME shit, it probably WON'T be what was pictured for your purchase.
  20. All years of Banshees have a 1 piece wiring harness and the various components plug into it. Wire harnesses are as follows:89-94, some say 87 &88 are in this group, others say they are different,95-96,97-2001, 2001-2006 in USA. CDI boxes:(87)89-94, 95-96, 97-2006. Stators:87-94, 95-2006. Voltage regulators and coils are the same for ALL years.
  21. My crank came apart with nothing more done to the motor than a set of pipes- stock timing and compression. The motor was less than 1.5 years old from brand new. Welding the crank is the first thing I do to any Banshee I own now.
  22. DON"T USE RTV, gasoline attacks it and you will end up with an air leak down the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Just make sure you are in OPEN riding areas and not in the areas that areclosed, off limits, out of bounds. We are fighting to keep the dunes open and we don't need to give the Forest Service/tree huggers a reason to kick us off more of the dunes.
  24. I thought most of the aftermarket axles used the stock compatible nut with the exception of the Durablue Eliminator axles.
