yea the shift shaft just kinda chills there in the cases. the clutch cover is supposed to keep it in place i think.

yes they interchange. not sure about the rest of the parts. when the blaster went to the hydraulic brakes they change the brake rotor from one that floats (it slides a bit on the splines) to one that is fix with a floating caliper like the banshee. bolt it in and find out. its definately good looking.

so annoyingly big signatures aside that piston got real hot. see how its rough around that area and spreads over to the transfers. though from the piston color it looks to have been jetted correctly. so it may have happened in the past and run like that. You will need to rebuild the top end most likely. Do a leakdown test after reassembly and verify everything is as it should be.

looks to me like the piston was melted rather than broken. especially since its at the exhaust port.

i believe its loosen the clamps, take the bolts out of the back of the airbox and then push forward til it cleans the pegs on each side towards the front and then lift.

alot of atv's with thread in dipsticks are that way. I myself run 2 qts to help keep the pushrod and ball lubricated.

As i mentioned in the shoutbox the other day. check to see if the fuel is actually shut off. petcocks are known to leak. you local hardware store has orings if needed.

You might try some silicone couplers and step up the size of the pipe. this will obviously require a filter with a bigger inlet but it would prevent them from being any restriction if you have an air hungry engine. similar to the ginormous inlet pipe you see on turbocharged vehicles such as diesel trucks.

the r2's require alot of fender trimming..... if you still have fenders

those trinity pipes are a bitch about that too. the first time i went for a cruise down the road by my storage unit in shorts they got me. had part of the IV burned into my leg for quite awhile. it wa squite the conversation piece.

ive never been a believer in the pussy break in either. After a year of beating the hell out of the last engine with its new topend, it had lost less than 5psi in each cylinder. this is riding almost every weekend when it was warm and 2 trips to the dunes.

looks good. makes me want to build one!
