  1. Bike in my sig is painted, and i will never do it again. I have a PC set up but my oven wasnt big enough, so I spent almost 300 bucks on the proper etching primer, base and clear, pearl and more clear etc. I wanted to do it myself and have painted quite a bit so what the hell. It just doesnt hold up near as well as a properly cured powder coat job. For what i spent i could have damn near had somebody pc my frame but oh well live and learn. Bike will be coming apart eventually and heading to PC. Yes powder will chip, yes it will scratch but not nearly as easily as paint. Now if not cured properly, pc will flake off, but thats another story. Go to a reputable PC shop and just get it done. You can not buy a decent setup for the cost of paying somebody to do a frame. NOw if you have a lot of work to do, then go for it im all for DIY. Just not into spending more just to say i did it myself, not anymore anyway. LOL
  2. I was running a dune ported 4mil with cpis at sea level and dennis sent my lectrons with a 4-2XL needle. they are 34 mm and im not sure if that will make much of a difference. I would just call him. He picked right up when i called, never tried email Shit never mind just saw you posted that you are at 6000 feet, my post has no relevance to you sorry
  3. matt told me last night that his helmet mounts are just about ready. I will be putting 1 of his lights on my helmet and 2 or 3 on my bars as soon as they are ready to ship. Ill get some pics up as soon as they are mounted.
  4. No guys when he says standard he means a full override not STOCK. If you are going to be backloading the trans a lot stay stock or cut off every other dog but don't do the overrride. The duneables are just a more forgiving version of a standard override. If you come off the throttle every once in a while without disengaging the clutch you will be ok. As where a standard override does not like to be backloaded at all
  5. Nice, i might need to get one of those
  6. It really depends on the year of the bike. My 96 frame you could barely read it stock. Yamaha must have had a bunch of fucking girls swinging the hammer back then. My 01, the vin is nice and visible, much deeper stamp. If it were me i would try to get a set of stamps as close to stock font as possible and just restamp in the stock location. Moving it somewhere else is just going to invite further questions by the popo. If you make it look clean and in the correct location, they will never know you had to redo it.
  7. For duning my favorite tire is my 21/12/8 8 paddle Skat trak Edge. I have haulers and extremes in various sizes and for duning the Edge is my favorite. For the OP. As a general rule, the taller the tire, and also the smaller 8 inch wheel, will hook harder. There is a huge difference in say 20/10/10 8 paddle haulers to a 22/11/8 8 paddle hauler.
  8. Anybody want to test out some super top secret coils I invented
  9. My dune ported 350 has 19cc domes in it and kicks 180 psi at sea level. So unless you are at a much higher elevation I don't think pump is going to work out for you
  10. Yep for sure, next time im there, im calling you and you have to show up or im going to mail you a pile of poo. That was actually my first and perhaps last time staying in the flats. Previously I have stayed with my family on gecko. The group i went with this last time for some reason likes the flats. They are a bunch of rich old farts as well and i would think they would want to get away from that mess. I think they arent comfortable venturing off into the washes or off the sides of gecko because they think they might get their big ass diesel pushers stuck or something i dont know. i just go with the flow anymore. As long as im not at work i am happy with whatever the camping conditions. Hell I dont even care about the riding all that much anymore. Lately i have prefered to skip the sand all together and go to the desert because i can take the toys that go bang as well as the ones that go vroom. Pretty sure the glamis rangers would frown upon me sending the .338 downrange and lighting of tannerite at 6 in the morning. Nothing say wakey wakey like 5 pounds of tannerite
  11. That sir is the 50million dollar question. If i were doing just 1 light i think it would have to go on top or it would feel awkward having it hang off one side. I am worried it would feel unballanced. Now if i were going to use 2, i would put 1 on each side right next to my jaw. I plan on mounting them on my old helmet and only using it at night, so if drilling it doesnt compromise the safety of the helmet im ok with it. However how can we be sure of that. Im thinking Stick on with some 3M is probably going to be the preferred route. How does trail tech mount their helmet lights? Im thinking probably sticky stuff. The other million dollar question is which beam style to go with . Im thinking 2 driving beams on the bars and 1 spot on the helmet, maybe a driving up there 2, but im not sure. Side note: If i can find a small lipo or equivalent battery pack that weighs about the same as the light then i would stick the battery on one side of the helmet and a single light on the other. would be cool as then i would not need a tether to the battery pack. That may be an option as well

    UFC 143

Jesus christ that fucking guy is an idiot. Like him or not as a fighter, he is on the verge of making millions if he could have pulled off the rematch and then a title down the line. Seriously dude you cant stop fucking smoking long enough to make the big money. I dont get it.
  13. fucking sweet. I have 30 watts to play with on the R stator from what ive read. My current plan is 2 lights on the bars and 1 on the helmet. If i want more then im going to put all 3 on the bars then get 2 for the helmet and run them off a battery pack. I want to burn peoples eyes out in the dunes.
  14. Like matt said, it depends on when and where you are at. During the week its pretty damn tame. Big holiday weekend it can get pretty nuts. I stayed down in the flats for new years 2011 and it was pretty mellow all week until new years eve, then they threw a big ass concert/party. luckily i took ear plugs or i wouldnt have gotten any sleep at all. I also try to stay away from the hill at night unless on the outskirts and watching, but that goes for any dune spot anymore. Im just not into the drunken crowd thing. 15 years ago i was fine with it now i just want to chill.
  15. Stole this pic from his other thread, this should answer your question i think
  16. They are LED not HID so no ballasts are needed
  17. Look up posts by member snopsynski. I believe he posted dyno sheets at one point of single vs dual carb set ups. He had a single and after his tests went back to duals
  18. Oh and as to your original question. 2 of my motors kick in the 185-190 psi range and I run sunnoco 110 or 112 with no problems. Your set up will not be that high.
  19. At 4600 feet you will be fine. However If it were me I would mix race gas when you go to glamis. If you keep the timing tame and can find the 93 octane you may be ok on pump but the tune would have to be perfect. However most places only carry 91 premium around here. My 421 serval came with 24cc domes because I only ride near sea level and wanted to run straight pump
  20. Did you make sure the slides went back in the correct carb if you switched them side to side they will be in backwards and bike wont run for shit. What about the choke tube that goes between the carbs did you make sure to reinstall it
  21. The best thing you can do,besides get a tors eliminator kit, is buy a good synch tool. Jeff (FAST) sells them. I don't give a shit how well people think they can synch by eye, put that airflow meter on and you will see they weren't dialed in. Put your tors eliminator kit on then synch the carbs first at idle by using the new idle screws. Next go up to the thumb throttle and back the adjuster off until the bike comes up to a high idle. Now adjust the cable adjusters on the carb caps until both carbs are once again flowing the same. Turn the thumb throttle adjuster back in until you have the proper slack in the cable and you are done. Go ride.
  22. I could be mistaken, but I thought that the wompus cylinders were going to be available with either the CUB port timings or the Serval port timings.. I would contact a builder to find out for sure
  23. You need to allow multiple votes. I have a ported 350 duner, a 4mil cub on gas that is going over to alky and getting stretched out to drag, and i just picked up a 4 mil serval to replace my 4 mil stock cylinder duner. If the 4mil cub on alky doesnt get my heart pumping enough, i think im going to go straight to a DM and quit fucking around Probably a 10mil we'll see.
  24. My favorite tire for all around riding is the EDGE. On my shee, i have a +2 arm and run a 21x12x8 8 paddle edge, and it works great. I have run haulers of various sizes and they are great depending on what im doing, but for all around on a relatively short bike i really like the edge.
  25. The timing mark is usually referenced off of the case split line. As far as the compression goes it is concerning that you have such a difference between the 2 cylinders. If it were me id pull the top end off and see what's going on
