Can someone explain 2-stroke exhaust design relative to powerband/RPM curve? I'm trying to see common ground when I look at different exhaust manufacturers products so if you can lay it out for me, I'd appreciate it. As an example, when you compare Shearers to CPIs, they are (relatively) similar in RPM range/power delivery range but the CPIs look a LOT fatter and a bit shorter than the Shearers. I want to be able to look at a pipe and determine the probable power delivery characteristics based on perceived design parameter!! My path on the unending quest for knowledge continues forward.... Thanks, Jay.

Anyone get anything back? Has anyone gone to the listed address? -
Yea, Yea, Yea. I know I'm on a Banshee Site but give me a break...I have 3 different Yamaha's in the garage so go easy on me!! I'm looking for an aftermarket pipe/silencer for my '03 Blaster in pretty good/great condition. If you have one or know of an etailer that has a significant price cut on one...feel free to contact me. Kinda leaning toward the Toomey B1, LRD, FMF, but I'm open. It was sort of funny when I test rode it before purchase.... I let it idle to warm up, then took off down the road. I wacked open the throttle and waited for the other cylinder to clear and catch.... Then I remembered.....Oooohhh yeaaaa........there is only one here!!! Since this is my first Blaster, if you know any tricks or shortcomings I need to keep my eye on specific to this model, I'd appreciate a heads up!! Anyhow, for the info.

Personally, I'm leaning first towards#3, just cut off the HQ on the end. I also like #13 with the font style of #3. Just move the Yamaha symbol more to the left. Orange flag, blue Yamaha symbol, white tuning forks, silver or grey BansheeHQ, black Member Name. Let's get a few more, decide which one's we like, set up a poll, and go for it!!

Howzit going?? Here is my POV coupled with info from the Toomey Website. Me: If all you are going to do is pipes/jet kit/air cleaner...go with the T6. If you are going to port and engine mod in the near future, go for the T5s. These pipes are significantly better performing than stock, and will respond more favorably to future mods. Toomey Quote: The TR-6 design is more than 8 horsepower stronger in acceleration, low and mid-range power and better than 5 hp stronger at peak, than even our own market leading T-5 pipe. This places the TR-6 pipe way out in front of all other manufacturers of Yamaha Banshee racing exhaust systems. Toomey Link: http://www.toomey.com/html/tr6.htm Basically, it seems the T6s work best with the stock engines air volume, but when you increase this by porting, timing changes, bigger carbs, etc, the T5s are the ticket. I have to be honest with you...since you are on a budget...you might want to consider FMF Fattys. You can get a used setup for a couple hundred bucks. I have them on my Banshee (look at my sig) and I can't figure out why people badmouth them!! I think people are just "following the leader" when they eviscerate them. Since they hold their value, you could resell them for what you paid (if you bought them used) and buy the pipes best for your bike if you did ever decide to significantly mod. I'm considering some CPIs but I'm a sand only guy and I spend a bit of time at the hill and they would probably work better with the mods I have. Of the over 100 people I've raced, my only couple of losses were because of rider error, not power delivery!! I've found that the best way to open a can of worms here is to claim that your exhaust or 2-stroke oil is the best... but for me, I'm happy with my Yamalube 2R (recommended by Toomey as well!!) and my FMF Fattys!! The following is another Quote from Toomey: Q. What kind of Two-Stroke Oil shall I use? At what mix ratio? A. Our Recommendation! We recommend using Yamaha's YAMALUBE "R" mixed at 32:1 (actually anywhere from 28:1 to 32:1 is fine) This oil has proven itself for years in roadracing, and we use it on the dyno where there are higher loads imposed over longer periods of time than anywhere in the outside world. I know you didn't ask about oil, but I saw it on the site..... Hope this helps. Jay From SanD............iego

You must not have gotten the memo..... Everything is OK now. He found jesus.

How do the rear pads look?? Lug nuts tight?? If it isn't any of those, you are goin' in!! Prop up the rear on a milk crate and see if you have a bent axle, tweaked rotor, anything out of the ordinary. That should help you localize the grinding sound...

I was wondering the same thing... I race up Old's (Glamis) and seem to burn a lot of fuel doing it. When does one know when to sport a Pingel for their 'shee? I would have never thought a 350/400 could burn fuel quicker than the stock petcock can deilver it...but I've read some stories on this site that have made me think about it.... :ermm:

Another great example... Just remember that the flag size is 11"x14" so the design should incorporate that shape parameter. Kinda like contrasting an old school TV with a 5x4 format to the widescreen 16x9 format. I'd guesstimate that to translate to the flag ending just after the "H" of the "HQ" along the bottom of the flag. Out here in SoCal, "PRIDE" takes on a whole different meaning!! :yelrotflmao: I like the Yamaha symbol on flag 3 or 5...maybe try one with the symbol so large that only 4/5ths of it will fit on the flag...cutting off the top to fit, positioned close to the flag pole. I've seen photos where BMW did that with their badge and I thought it looked pretty cool. Maybe try repositioning the two lines of text off center, maybe both at the top, both at the bottom, one on top, the other on bottom...

All we need to do is agree on a design (maybe a poll after we narrow down to 5 designs or so) and submit our artwork to the company. After the approval process, they claim a 96 hour shipping window. I would like to see us agree on a background color if possible...it would look better in a group!! So keep those ideas coming!! Jay From SanD.

Personally, I like logo 3 or 5...but I'd vote to shorten the flag and cut the HQ off. I wonder if the amount of orange/red would satisfy the state requirement for the colored flag specification.... Plus, since the flags are 11"x14", that would be a proportional rectangle.

The flag manufacturers will allow you to order the flag in whatever color you want. They will just pull the logo out of their database after we submit one and mod it to your spec. Short version is they will change any color of any part of the flag. Here is the long version quoted from their website: Q. I like the flag that is listed on your website, but what changes can I make to it? A. You can change anything and everything. All flags listed on the website can be changed to suit your needs. You can change the flag color. (Red, yellow, blue, black, orange, purple or light grey). You can change the logo color. You can change the font color. Don't like the style of of font used, you can change that too. You can change the names or sayings on the flags. The possibilities are endless. Whatever you want, you can have. When ordering, just list everything you want on your flag in the comment section of the order form. If no comments are left, we will assume that you want your flag just as pictured. But don't worry, we will email you back to verify exactly what you want on your flags. How cool is that...you could even add your username!!

 I like it!! Any others? I'd like to submit a design to the flag company in time for anyone to order a flag before the fall sand season starts for us here in SoCal!! Jay From SanD.

Which should tell you on it's own....the betting had nothing to do with it. The Douche Bag derived his pleasure from the torture/killing, not the betting/winning. I certainly don't see any connection between that and his profession of hurting/attempted killing others. I'm sure he has the utmost respect for the elderly, children, animals, the environment. money, and our rule of law. Well, how about 1 out of 6?? Probably happy to let you merge onto the freeway though....

And I'll bet it gets at least 24 HP to the rear wheels.... :yelrotflmao: And he did away with that grossly overrated "watercooling" fad some bikes have been following as of late!! I didn't know that 1985 XR600s were 2 cylinders motors..... :shoothead:

What year Blaster is the Front Bumper from?...mine is the newer '03 model. Does it look nearly pristine? Do you have an aftermarket pipe/silencer? Anything else? Thanks, Jay.

Maybe you could rent a storage shed for your shee and just leave it here all winter. For the cost of 1 trip, you could store it for a year and ride as many times as you can hook up on a "space available" military flight. There are always people heading out to the dunes during the winter. It could happen....

Here is one I pulled off an old thread.... I kind of like the one on top....

I have one of those cheap digital vernier calipers they sell at the Auto Parts Stores for $12.00 and all I did to check mine was to measure using the depth probe. At BDC I reset to zero, slowly went through the stroke and viola!! Instant stroke reading!! I have 58mm. Jay From SanD.
