  4. I ran them in the rear shocks of 2 different street bikes and was very pleased with the result. Money well spent for my application.
  5. I logged on today and I saw I have 221 completed transactions...instead of my usual 201. They implemented a new system that DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK as a seller!!! Here is the message I received: "Important changes to Feedback Buyers, you can no longer receive negative or neutral Feedback from sellers. You should leave honest and accurate Feedback without the fear of receiving negative or neutral ratings." First they acquire Paypal and net an additional 3% profit on sales, then they increase their listing/final value fees so they leach near 10% of your small item sale, then they make feedback worthless!! That is a community I want to be in!! They took a novel idea and F'd it up. Yay Fee-Bay. Losers.
  6. My vote is for a Trailer Dolly. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=37510 Or if you just want a wheel....they sell them locally at Carson trailer made to fit. Remember where you picked up those brake lines? They probably have one there at Industrial Liquidators too!!

  8. I have the 21x12 8 paddle version and am happy with my choice. We seem to have a similar setup but my riding is SoCal dunes exclusively. Maybe if you were dragging shorter hills, an extra couple of paddles would be good for a harder launch but on the longer hills I race, I make the difference up pretty quickly....
  9. I hear 'ya. I started smoking in high school because the (sweet!!) girl I was "dating" was a smoker and it seemed like the thing to do... 15 years later of a pack + per day smoking Marlboro Reds, I decided to quit and I found it to actually be kinda easy. Here is how I did it: First, you have to actually, really, truly WANT to quit!! Not because someone or something is pressuring you to stop...YOU have to want to!! This is key. Without being here, you are destined to fail. Next, recognize why you chew/smoke. I determined that for me, it was a reward for life's little challenges and reward for accomplishments. Hey, I woke up!! Reward...a smoke! Made breakfast...Reward!! Made it to work..Reward!! Almost lunch...Reward!! Man, done with work...Reward!! Dropped the circlip down into the motor while reinstalling the timing chain...SHIT...Reward Dammit!! Anyhow, you get my point. So I decided to quit when I would be out of my routine...I quit when I went on vacation!! It was soooo easy!! Different environment, new experiences, no routine to follow made it a simple transition for me. New experiences didn't allow my mind to become idle and dwell/crave. When I did have a momentary craving...I just reminded myself that to quit was MY choice and that "IF I HAVE JUST ONE MORE, I'LL HAVE HAVE JUST ONE MORE THE REST OF MY LIFE!!" Just knowing this and believing this made it easier for me. If you are going to "try" to quit, you already accept failure on your part to quit. Don't even bother "trying." Spare yourself the drama. Why set yourself up to kick yourself in the balls (if applicable to you)? But when you DECIDE to quit, it becomes a decision as clear as black and white. You DON'T walk into the store and order a pack or tin. You DON'T reach for your wallet. You DON'T bum from your friends. It is clear as day...at least it was for me!! I've got to admit...I enjoyed smoking, and sometimes still miss it. I have not had a puff, drag, or cigarette since I quit. Not one!! I know that if I have just one more................. BTW: That whole patch thing...I think it is a BS crutch. With a patch, you can never believe it was your strength that led to your quitting...even though it was. It's all inside you to do this!! Just my $.02. Hope this helps. Jay Form SanD.
  10. I was whining about the California OHV Sticker increasing 100% to $50. I just found out that they are also increasing the fee for the ISDRA Desert Pass from $25/$90 to $40/$120 Weekend/Annual next season. Illegal Aliens cost me more everyday......
  11. The weather was perfect and the dunes were pretty clear of people. I didn't make it to Old's Saturday night...dammit!! The wind came up Sat evening and dusted the tracks for Sunday morning...sweet. Got beat on the Gecko Drags by a 13 year old riding a full Trinity prep Banshee. That scrawny 90 pounder beat me by 3 lengths... I thought I should have loaded him up with a couple o' 45lb plates first!! I was feeling like he pulled a Danica on me...little runt!! :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: It might have been different if I had bolted up my Haulers---I was running my Sand Skate IIs and didn't even think about it until I was already on site. Looking to go out again over the next 2 weekends. Let me know if you are going or want to go!! I can carry 1 more quad on my trailer.
  12. I needed a tie rod end....he GAVE me a tie rid end!! I'm such a loser...I didn't even leave any beer. You have 1 beer credit next time I see you. , Jay.

  14. I haven't been to Dumont yet. Are you saying that you buy an annual pass and you still have to buy an additional pass for certain weekends?? :: That is shit. :wallbash: :yucky: I love living here in Cali, but when I look into my crystal ball, I see it sucking in 20 years... :shoothead: Good thing I'll be old by then. My house will be worth something like 2 Million to someone!! Woo-Hoo!! What a joke. When I see some of the photos you guys post of your house on the prairie, I always wonder..... How far away is town and what do you do for a living to have all that land. Was it passed down? My bud has 175 acres in SC, and his neighbor has 550. It is cool to sit on the back porch and shoot. Nothing like deer hunting 300 yards from the front door..... I have to admit though, the women at the bar aren't exactly hot, but they are rugged.
  15. I bought one last year based on the review/price point. Here are a couple of resources for 'ya. http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ Search by rating!! http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/camcorders/ Just make sure that you don't' buy a "Grey Market" camera if you buy online.
  16. So I'm watching this show that airs on HBO every Sunday on John Adams... I wish we would collectively do something in response to "Taxation Without Representation"..... I'm starting to think we need a modern version of the Boston Tea Party!! Maybe Number 2 in Austin Power's was right in reference to their not being World Governments...only Global Corporations I was thinking that today is the best day it will ever be here. Yesterday was better and tomorrow won't be as good. 20 years ago was better and 20 years from now will be a time you remember "the good old days" of the Y2K era. I just got my 2nd reg bill for 2 of the 3 OHVs I have. The funny thing is that boats have gone up to $10.00 per year (up 100%) regardless of length. That dude with the 68' Hatteras Power Yecht uses a waterway with significantly more infrastructure than the unmarked trails I ride in. I bet the Coast Guard costs a pretty penny. Since I have to shell $90.00 on top of the fees to ride in the sand, maybe they should charge an entrance fee for boats to enter the Bay!! OK, I'm done venting...but I still feel unrepresented, a mere serf.
  17. Lonestar recommends: 5-7 degrees Positive Caster and 1-3 Negative Camber. Here is their guide: http://www.lsracing.com/img/Guide_21.pdf
  18. I meant to say I have Sand Skate IIs.... As for being on the fence, maybe the best way to explain the difference is the Haulers dig in to the sand because of their donut shape, so while you can slide a bit under power, it isn't predictable. It is hard to slide with the tire dug 4" into the sand. The V tires are flatter, so they "float" on the sand. They slide under control and you end up giggling like a school girl...at least no one can hear you!! A good way to get in touch with your feminine side!! J/K. The haulers are a bit faster, but the V's are more fun. Fun is why I go to the des. Last weekend at Olds, I raced every quad (that would) that wasn't on alky and won every race...maybe 30 quads...including a 500 Quadzilla. Many of them were on Haulers. Just start out in 2nd!! I was on V tires. Go figure. Of course, my experience is my own. Others may have a different opinion. I have a new set of Haulers I recently purchased that I like too, but I use me V's 90% of the time.
  19. You have Lonestar arms. $682.50 from Lonestar. You didn't sent a photo shot from the front so I can't see how the wheels line up, but your suspension is fully adjustable for caster, camber, and toe in. I set mine up with the least amount of protruding ball joint by dividing the required distance between the ball joints and the heim joints. It is kind of a bitch, but if you set up your front end correctly, you can get rid of that excessive extended joint thread. That is the weak point of your front end. You need an angle finder: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=34214 And these instructions: http://www.lsracing.com/img/Guide_21.pdf Mine were originally set up like yours, now they are a lot closer to the arm than they were..... 20. Hey there rtcc, Last year I was a sand Noob but I do have experience with both "V" paddles and Skat-Trak Hauler straight paddles since I use both. All my experience is from the SoCal dunes of Glamis, Gordon's, and Buttercup so I'm used to loomy, dry sand and hills that are as vertical as sand can support itself. I don't know what the sand consistency or what obstacles you will encounter, but here is my observation: My "V"s are Stak-TrakIIs 21"x12"x10" and my Haulers are 21"x12"x8" 8 paddle tires...all on Douglas blue wheels. You need to qualify yourself for the tire you want. If you are gonna do mostly duning, the "V" paddles rule...hands down. I get 5 times the enjoyment powersliding on my SKIIs than I get trying to dune on my Haulers. The Haulers don't slide as predictably as the SKIIs, they kinda coil up and slingshot you mid corner, so you have to go at a less intense pace. When you dune or recreational ride, it is better to be able to slide predictably. You can still race on the V paddles and you lose a bike length off the line, but BFD. You are there for fun!! The tradeoff for duning is worth it if you only drag for fun. On V's, you can come in in 3rd gear, pitch it sideways, slide under power and end up doing a donut. Do that on Haulers, you (probably) eat it. Good for a photo op. If you are dragger, the straight paddles are the ones for you. Get the 8" wheel for best launch. They hook up and get taller the faster you go, like a dragster. I find I don't need to grab my last gear because the tires grow and change my final drive ratio!! I bolt these on at night when I'm heading out to drag race at night up Old's in Glamis...and the ride to the hill is never as much fun as it is on my SKII's. But at the hill strictly racing, they are great. If I were to buy only 1 set of sand tires and I was a 50/50 duner/dragger, I'd own "V" paddles on 10" wheels. I can only do a dozen passes up the hill before I have fuel concerns, but I can spend hours duning...so it is like 6 minutes compared to 100 minutes. The 100 minutes prevails. If you are gonna dune more, the answer is clear. Powersliding Rules!! I don't know what V tires people recommend...I'd post a poll or do a search on that topic. I like my SKIIs. On the "it sucks" meter, Haulers suck more for general duning than the V paddles suck for dragging. V paddles win!! Hope my POV helps you. Jay From SanD.
  21. Heading out Friday evening April 4 and camping off Gecko pad 2.5 or 3.5. It's gonna be another great weekend!! There will be quads and buggies at our side and George likes to give rides in his race ready long travel buggy, so it will be a memorable trip. Read my post on my Easter Weekend trip. Plenty of room to camp with us or if you just wanna meet up, let's set it up!! I'll try to take some photos this time...I'm always too busy riding to snap 'em!! Last trip, I went through 14 Gallons of fuel from Saturday morning to Sunday at 4:00PM. :miner: C'mon Greg...you know you wanna....... Jay From SanD.
  22. Probably the biggest problem is that there is very little vertical space in your engine bay. The motor you have picked out is an extremely old design (dates back to the 60's) so it isn't compact by any means. Have you ever done drafting? That is where you start with a straight line, and all subsequent lines are based off of that one initial line. For you, that base line is your swingarm pivot/drive sprocket relationship. This is the most important point: The output shaft/sprocket must be in the same vertical/horizontal plane as the Banshee is. This will determine engine placement. Vertical alignment cannot be changed, but you can adjust the side-to-side alignment a small bit. If you are not on a budget, you can make an adaptor for the rear sprocket carrier that will allow you to move the sprocket a bit side-to-side to allow for proper alignment. If not, drive sprocket placement...and ultimately...engine position...will be determined by your chain alignment. By the time you look at the height of the engine placed in your Banshee engine bay, you may determine it is too great of a structural compromise for a 42 Horse Power air cooled motor. By today's standards, this motor is extremely tall, long, and heavy...in my opinion, a poor choice. To answer your question of if it can be done...It can, but I wouldn't do it. A more modern motor is more compact and powerful...the Yamaha FZ series would be a great older motor (80's) because the cylinders are canted forward like 40 degrees, reducing the vertical height. A 90's and newer 4 stroke 4 cylinder 600-750 motor weigh less than the XS motor you have. In the end you will end up with something less than the original because you will have to cut the main frame tubes on top and relocate your fuel tank, compromising the integrity of the frame. If the motor has the Hitachi carbs, they will be throw aways because the jets are permanently pressed in.... If you wanna really piss off everyone, throw a CR500 motor in there!! Remember...light is right!! Hope this helps. Good luck on your build...don't forget photos.... Jay From SanD.
  23. Here is what I posted back in October about this BS.....I just got my first $50.00 bill last week. In Cali, we had to pay $25.00 every 2 years to get a registration sticker that is good for 2 years. The "fee" (remember, this is NOT a tax) was supposed to generate monies to procure additional riding areas and maintain riding areas. I don't think a new riding area has been acquired since the 80s. Instead, these funds have been used to fund the enviro hippie assholes to fund CLOSING of riding areas and pay for habitat studies to clear the path for future closures. Last year, we paid in $18,000,000 (18 Million dollars) and of that, $365,000 went to maintain off road areas. The rest was diverted to the Hippies, Law Enforcement, and the General Fund. Why am I pissed?? Look at the previous paragraph. They are going to increase the fee 100% next year (this is now...this has happened). It's not that I can't afford the "fee," I just want the money to be used for the people that are paying for it. F*cking Bull$hit. Boat fees are also going up 100%, smog checks are going up $8.00, and on road vehicle registration will increase 10%. NICE.... And they say that illegal aliens don't negatively impact our society..... :shoothead: After someone responded by saying it wasn't too bad, (my peeve is the whole taxation without representation thing) I responded with: It's not the fee I find ridiculous...it's that they take money from the off road fees collected and give it to the enemy...the one's that want to close our riding areas. They use this money to fund "environmental studies" that always ultimately end up excluding our ability to ride those areas!! Since they are doubling our fees, that means we will pay 36 million dollars next year. They will get 25% of that...9 million dollars to fight us with!!! They don't contribute, they only take. ALL the fees were supposed to be used to purchase property for us to ride on now and in the future. Another lie. It is like a rigged fight :: where we are paying someone to kick our ass.
