Maybe a definition is in order.... Both carb slides opening at the same rate/speed/time is NOT synchronization. Making both carbs flow the same rate at a given throttle position...that IS syncronization...or "in sync." (not the really cool band) That means they need to be open the same amount...equally. Download the manual here: http://rapidshare.com/files/47949327/Banshee.pdf//url Maybe you can teach your mechanic something.... BTW: The TORS elimination kit is worth the cost. Been to Bahrain. Nice weather  , cops with UZI's, license plates that denote status, and Gold Street was pretty cool. Wish I could get my hands on more of that perfume oil!!

I'm gonna go with the "it'll beat a crapload of Banshees" group. Shoot...I beat a crapload of Banshees with my Banshee!! Maybe some of the guys that have thousand $$ cylinders and $$$$ porting wouldn't consider the Kwaker to be serious competition, but for us non-alky guys...this 550 would be a real challenge...or maybe we'd be no challenge!! Maybe it's just me, but part of the Banshee pride of ownership thing is in that I own something not so mainstream. Anyone can go out and buy a 4fiddy, but hand them a quad that requires finesse and they're out. We build ours from parts bought, traded, and modified with an end result of a 20 year old design that embarrasses their 2008 technology in the dunes. As much as I like the idea of a 500 2-stroke...no counterbalancer would be kinda rough...but I seriously doubt you'd be embarrassed by it's performance. Imagine a Quadzilla that weighed 175lbs less... I have to admit, I've been a fan of Kawasaki for "long time." Maybe for the same reason I like Mopar over Chevy/Ford. Anyone could buy a Camaro or Mustang, but a Road Runner or Charger kicks ass!! Back to my coffee...

Guess I was happier in the 2-stroke days. I went to a couple of GP's at Laguna Seca (I was there when Doohan broke his leg at the corkscrew right in front of me...) in '89 and '91. I've got friends that ride up there every year from here in San Diego but I'll be honest with you... Since they allow traction control, I've lost my interest. Watching the telemetry and seeing Hayden wack the throttle to 100% while at full lean in the corkscrew offends my rider's sensibility. I ride an '05 ZX10r with over 165HP at the rear wheels. I'd die if I tried that crap. Fukn Bullshit. You couldn't even do that on a 600!! I just don't think the race winner should be determined by who has the better software download.... The 500's were the bikes that were about rider skill, built out of unobtanium.....

The secret to Big HP is finally out!
jayzx10r replied to shanYE west's topic in Online Auction Watch
C'mon guys, lighten up!! Didn't you read...they're JDM!!! I"m sure the "lucky" winning bidder is gonna love it when the positive pressure overpowers the vacuum required to draw fuel up through the jet circuits. I forsee HUGE "gains" in HP!! I wonder if the instructions inform the modder he needs to pressurize the float bowls too..... -

To answer your question first, I'd say that if cost was of no concern, of course I'd want to run Race Gas. That's what these small manufacturers make. Specialized Race Fuel. It should be as good as can be. Of course, one of the things that differentiate these race fuels from standard pump fuels is the lack of emissions related additives and the very close consistency from one batch to the next. That is what true racers need and are paying for. Consistency. But in the real world, I've been running a 50/50 mix of 100LL AVGAS/pump premium for more than a decade in 2-strokes because it costs less than half the price of race fuels. All I can offer is what I've found so far.... I took the top end apart on my 2000 YZ250 to replace the piston/rings after 4 years of mega riding. Piston dome was clean and carbon free, as were the ring lands, and transfer ports. I literally wiped away the discoloration. I use Yamalube 2R at 32/1. I just looked through the exhaust ports of my Banshee while I had the pipes off and plugs out. I could read the part #'s on top of the pistons (100% carbon free) and the exhaust port/domes are spotless too!! 2-strokes operate best on leaded fuel. Period. Longevity is increased because of the lead lubrication. I've been running the same plugs going on my 3rd season so I don't understand why some claim to have carbon/fouling issues...it certainly isn't because of the fuel!! 100LL is an ultra clean fuel. One of the specs is that they place an amount on a stainless steel tray and it can't leave any deposits behind. Another spec is that it has a 15 month shelf life...compare that with standard /race gas of 5 weeks. In it's liquid state, it doesn't smell like fuel as we are accustomed to, but it works great for me. If it atomizes well enough in a thin air environment (10,000') it will do an outstanding job at sea level too. I did an internet search on the properties of 100LL and I'm satisfied in it's ability to kick every 4-pokes ass up Old's  without detonation. BTW: Someone commented on the outboard application with 100LL. The TCW oil used in outboards is some vile stuff. NEVER run that crap in your Banshee!!! It's for use with cold water intake...not a hot water recycling radiator cooling system. Plus, who can attest to the condition of said motor? "You know, my friend's friend's friend's brother said his uncles motor...." If the low RPM thing people throw around about AVGAS had validity, it would operate better in outboards because of their (approx) 5500RPM redline. My $.02.

Is it actually a hairline crack or just a surface casting imperfection?

Remember you are jetting for night racing (probably) so it's gotta be a bit fat during the day. Elevation is near 350 ASL and temps are expected to be: Highs...mid 60's. Lows....low 40's. There are vendors out there that sell jets if no one has what you need. It's hard to figure out your jetting for you since no one knows what your current riding conditions/porting/jetting is. For weather, use 92227 for your search. Jay in SanD. Showing up on Wednesday!!! I was wondering...with those domes, isn't' your compression pretty low? Do you actually need 110 octane fuel? C U out there...

I can't vouch for fitment with fullbores. With regular fenders, you gotta cut your front fenders at the front leading edge of the tank. We can meet up...I'm only 15 minutes from the airport. Let me know.... -
I've seen the drag race ones on eBay.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BANSHEE-ALU...1QQcmdZViewItem

It's true man. Fry's Electronics is selling a HP Lightscribe DVD burner right now for $29.99. I've been where you are before....sux. :ermm: A few years ago I went through some early 90's computer receipts. Found one from CDW where I paid $515.00 for a 56k US Robotics modem. Back then, it was a hotrod...all the others were mostly 9600 baud. Like I said...sux.

No complaints with the Boyesen "Power Reeds"...the dual petal reed version. I use 'em and HIGHLY recommend them. http://www.boyesen.com/cwo.php?store=boyes...p;submit=search Kinds hard to justify spending $200 on VF3's when these work so well for $60!! eBay item for $60.00 delivered. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOYESEN-POW...Q2em118Q2el1247

I have a white great condition IMS tank for sale. 5.6 gallons should keep you out there for a while. Includes cap, rear rubber spacer grommets, and front mount tabs. It's used but not abused. Has a few use scratches...nothing deep. White pretty much hides all the imperfections anyhow. Paypal from a personal bank account, USPS Postal Money Order, or Cash only. No Credit Cards!! Basically looks real good. Shipped from San Diego...92117.

From what I understand, the 4g tank is a no mod install. I've been looking for one because I don't wanna cut my plastic to fit a 5.5. Guess I need to sell my white 5.5 IMS.....

See if this helps you: http://www.davebarton.com/Unleaded_Racing_Fuel_in_SoCal Guess I'm the only one that runs a 100LL mix.....

Pipes are the greatest single power improvement gain you can do to your quad. If cost is a concern, get a set of FMF Fatty's. I run 'em and could buy any pipe I want. You sound new so I'm gonna tell you...you have to rejet if you do a pipe change. Depending on your riding conditions, you will want to either mod your stock airbox and run a different filter (muddy conditions) or eliminate the box all together and run separate K&N filters. The result will be worth it. If you buy that stock exhaust for $26.00, it'll be $25 more than you can sell it for!!! :shoothead:

Motorcyclist Magazine dynoed their 2000 GSXR750 at 123HP at 12,500RPM and 57.7 lb-ft torque at 10,000RPM. I've ridden an '02. Nice top end powerband. Should be a fun ride!!

I've seen sets that have a couple of red rings, the other manufacturer includes only black rings. Is one set preferred over the other?? Does it matter?? Jay.

First, I only ride my quad in the sand at Glamis. That being said: I went through this same thing 6 months ago...and I was running Fattys. Most everyone I talked to told me I'd realize significant power gains with a set of CPI's and that my FMF's were killing my top end. So I bought a set of CPI's and ran 'em for a weekend at Glamis. Took 'em off the next week and sold 'em to someone on this site...only used 3 days!! I can't say I had a much bigger top end hit...in fact it seemed the opposite!! I lost nearly every race I was in...contrast that with me being way more competitive with my Fatty's. The powerband was narrower, so the jump to either 4th or 5th (can't remember which) gear was too much. I'd have to rev it out to absolute MAX rpm to barely catch the upper-mid for that next gear change. If I didn't, it would bogggggg boggggg boggggg.... I'm not saying CPI's are crap, but for my porting, they were crap. Some porting works better with certain pipes...mine works best with Fatty's and prolly T5s. I'm back on my Fatty's and happy as can be!! As a bonus, it sure is nice being able to ride in shorts!! I'm not saying not to believe the hype. Just don't think you are gonna pick up a mega HP difference. You got 95% of what's there going from stock pipes to the fatty's!!!
