Selling fatty and stock exhaust and carbs!
jayzx10r replied to n0blefart's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
See Rule #3 in the posting for sale area. Prices are mandatory...this isn't eBay!! -
FMF SST's pipes use a SST specific PC2 silencer.

Haven't seen you in a while!! Glamis over Halloween!!
-
The thing I don't like about Gordon's is that the good hills are almost half a tank away so by the time I get there I only have 10 or 15 minutes riding before I need to trek back to camp. That, plus the big hill isn't so big...

Any San Diego Riders Want To Start A Riding Forum?
jayzx10r replied to jayzx10r's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Dead Thread Revival!!! The topic is still the same though...let's meet up and ride!! While I'm a Glamis/Buttercup kinda guy I'll go to Gordon's if that's the majority decision. -
Welcome to the HQ. I'm in San Diego and am at Glamis most of the time, but I'll go to Buttercup a couple of times too. I usually park at Pad 3 on Gecko Rd and can be found at the evening drags on Saturday nights too. Look for my bigger lights and I'll see you out there!!

Anyone can just look at the product and determine it's going to fail because there isn't any real material to resist the braking forces. Shit products like this are for trailer queens or harly's that never actually get ridden. It isn't rocket science. Trying to slow down 600lbs of mass with so little structural rigidity/integrity....

Cool. Closer to the Saturday Evening Drags!!

I've always opened mine up and matched them better to the intake port. I wouldn't go crazy on making the bridge too thin because you have to remember it is cooled by the intake charge so it can create a significant temp variation on a small part of one section of the piston....not something highly desirable when you think about material expansion inequalities. I think there is a significant benefit to piston port matching the intake tho...

I'd recommend getting a set of Sand Stars or Sand Skate II's rather than a set of Haulers if your primarily gonna dune. Straight paddles like Haulers prefer to dig in and go straight...best for dragging. Duning is about power sliding and V paddle type tires are vastly superior in that respect. I have both Haulers and Sand Skate II's and the Sand Skate II's are on my Banshee 98% of the time. If I were to have only one sand paddle, it would probably be a Sand Star but I think each of my tires are the best at what they do, so I needed two!! BTW: I'd recommend picking up a complete wheel/tire combo so you have your dirt tires to use later...even if it's only for off season storage or pushing it around the garage. A 10" rim tire is the size of choice for duning, the 8" is more of a dragger size (think wrinkle wall dragster tires) and can be found on Craigslist for <$100/set. Plus, you can always sell them when you're done. My $0.02.

When I was a 7 y/o kid, my dad had me use Pennzoil 30w straight weight oil for premix. Always wondered why pistons didn't last all that long...
-
Ha-Ha...you beat my post by 2 minutes!! Good advice!!
-
It depends on what kind of riding you do...MX, dune, drag, trails. Personally, I'd get porting before I picked up carbs. Remove the TORS and go!! Pre-determine your intended use and get parts that compliment each other.

You might as well burn it up. There are not any negative consequences to your motor by using it. Running 50/50 would be OK. It'll keep you from spending those dollars on fuel that you would anyhow so use it up!!

So if a gutted stocker pipe would only be 3 HP less than Fatty's, that means they would have the same power as T-5's!! Seriously, I'd bet money that wouldn't be the case. On top of that, pipe design is about power delivery and you can tell a lot from looking at a pipe. The stockers are designed to be mediocre at best...OK in a variety of conditions for a stock motor but considered terrible from a modder's POV. All midrange that signs off early to be used in conjunction with a restricted intake (airbox) isn't the ticket for a sleeper. Now paining a set of performance pipes black, running a black Chariot Racing head, stuffing a ported 4mil in the frame and not polishing any aluminum is a good start for a sleeper....

I know I'll be there at Pad 3 fer-sher!! Are you gonna be at the same location as you were for Prez Week?? Oh snap!! 1000 posts!!

The key checkpoint is to look for the symbol/icon that states your 10-30 oil is "Energy Saving." I believe that all 10-30 auto oil is this type. If it is, DO NOT use it because it has friction modifiers that can affect your wet multi-plate clutch. 10-40 is good to use though. A lot of people use automotive oil for the trans because it's usually changed with frequency...it should be fine.

KEIHIN PWK 28MM CARBS NIB starting bid $99.00
jayzx10r replied to jayzx10r's topic in Online Auction Watch
I saw the name but I didn't register it because of the extension to the name. Plus, I posted this before my morning coffee!! Chris pointed it out to me earlier. Amazing how a fucktard can migrate to so many different servers and not get his ass beaten. I sent him a message to see if he allows local pickup. If he does, I'll pick 'em up and offer them up on the board. -
Saw these on fuckyouoverasasellerbecausewedontgiveashitboutyouBay and thought someone might be interested in a set of new 28mm Keihins. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-KEIHIN-PWK-28MM-CARBS-YAMAHA-BANSHEE-NEW-BOX-/260645407592?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cafad4b68 Good luck!!

I know the Fatty's have a harder top end hit than SST's so maybe you can wrangle a trade or sell yours and buy another used set of Fatty's. I can't say anything about the R2's...don't know anyone personally that has installed them out yet so the jury's out on them. Pure conjecture has me thinking they are for higher RPM than your single carb would want to feed though...or not.

It isn't so much that the stock exhaust is restrictive but more that it is not an optimized design. Sure, the silencers could be more open, but the chamber design is terrible from a high performance point-of-view. Simply changing out the stock exhaust for something as inexpensive as a set of (even used) FMF Fattys, removing the lid from the airbox, and changing the jetting will make a world of difference. Simply reducing some restriction from the stock exhaust won't yield a huge gain IMHO. Welcome to the BHQ!!

I use the RK GXW520GB on my ZX10r. It may considered "overkill" by the author of the article but I ride pretty aggressively and still got 20,000 miles out of my chain so far. I've shredded an XSO chains on my RZ350 in <10,000 miles so I won't use them anymore. I agree with the Regina rating and I feel that DID isn't quite up to the same quality standards of RK...close tho. RK is my default chain manufacturer.

I'd like to meet this dude. Wonder where he lives??

IDK what the quality of Pro x pistons is but when we dropped off my friend's cylinder to get bored to his new Pro-x, pro-x has their own spec for boring their cast pistons that is substantially different from stock cast boring sizing. If I recall, the tolerance needed to be larger than stock. The visual led me to believe they were a good quality piston but really, why would anyone choose a cast piston over forged??

I use it and am happy with how it's worked so far. Been using it for a couple of decades and have not had an oil failure yet. In fact, now that I think about it, I've gone through 24+ quarts of 2r since the build over the last 3 seasons....that's 240+ gallons of fuel. Still have great compression and never foul plugs either. I usually go through 1 set of plugs per season. I switched out the top end in my 2000 YZ250 a couple of years ago just to do it and it still looked perfect in every respect. Crank was in spec, piston looked new, no hard carbon to chip off (except for a little bit in the very front of the head pipe). I would have just tossed in a set of rings and reused the piston but I had a new kit to throw in so now it'll be good 'till 2015!! Guess what I'm saying is, 2r isn't crap, people that use it like it however people that have no experience with it like to bash it. Most engine failures I've seen aren't attributed to oil but to shit jetting, poor parts selection, over straining the engine design by high RPM, or simply not knowing how to ride a 2 stroke. I did notice that the newer bottle design doesn't state it's a synthetic blend any longer, in fact it doesn't even state that it's oil!!
