I think you should pipe your boys YZ. I had a YZ 125 and I saw a decent gain from a pro circuit pipe. I def think its a big step up from stock. Anyone disagree with this. Try that and go from there.

I used to run stock pegs as well until I sucked my legs under my tires and pinned the throttle with the heel of my hand. I was in 3rd gear and in the band. Hurt quite a bit. I bolted them on and cant even tell the diff.
