1. Pics of the Bike and Trailer. Price is $5000 together, $4000 for the Banshee, $1000 for the trailer. Might entertaine seperating the two. It has a new top end just one day ride ago. Done by DTR performance here in town, it was broken in and dynoed at 49hp. it has new k&ns and clutch.

2. Check out my listing on craigslist for all the details. call for questions. 503-949-8012. http://salem.craigslist.org/mcy/313123891.html
3. Picture time! Ok the first pic is just after I took off all the fenders. Now with the gas tank off. Now with the expansion chambers and silencers off And with the Nerf bars and Pegs off Cooling system removed AND Drive chain, carbs, Magneto cover, rear handle bar/brake lamp, ha ha and my buddies in the background being goobers Not bad for one day, and I really only worked on it for 3 hours or so. Next, I will remove the engine and anything else I see i guess, My question is: should I leave the electrical system on the bike and paint around it, or is it ease to take the whole thing off? It looks to be a bit of a pain.
4. Today while I watched my Detroit Lions get beat by the Packers I started to tear down my shee. Took off the fenders, tank, cooling system, expansion pipes, silencers, and nerf bars. I'll have pictures up later tonight. Next step, I think, is removing all electrical and the whole engine. Once I get the engine out I'm going to take the A-arms to my Dad's body shop and have one of the painters help me with the paint that he says will be durable. I was happy to find out how easy getting this far has been. I have little Zip-Lock bags labeled to keep all my screws, bolts, etc in order and so I don't forget which goes where. For those of you unaware, I am rebuilding the top end, True welding the crank, inspecting the clutch, replacing all gaskets/seals, and painting the frame black. I'm not in too much of a hurry given winter is coming, so this will be a long project. Pictures tonight! Josh
5. I'm in the same boat as you with low speed bogging, I have little compression (not tested but you can REALLY tell when you stand on the kick start and it falls down easily). Have you tested your compression yet? It seams like you've done EVERYTHING you can with the carbs. Just a suggestions from a rookie with the same sounding problem. I am going to be rebuilding my top end with pistons, hoaning (possibly boreing), rings, etc. Well see when I get 'er apart. Good luck with it. Josh
6. Just got the DL from one of the painters at my dad's Body shop, his son PC'd his banshee and had problems when a weld broke, plus if I ever need to repare a spot, powder coating is a pain to get off. So he told me that there are enough good clears and paints out there now that if we prep and prime good, we can get a good result and it will last. Luckily I know all these guys at the shop cause I worked there for 3+ years so he's going to help me do it for free I'll let you all know how it goes, can't wait to see what she looks like with the black frame!
7. ha ha, yeah I found that in my searches on here, I saved the link in my Banshee bookmarks for when I'm down in the garage working on it, just to have another source (along with the Clymer). That was really cool of him to take the time to do that for all of us. thanks
8. I definately agree with the powder coating, I just don't have much money. I'll have to talk to my dad today and see how much their powder coating guy would charge me. I'm having a hard time right now deciding between buying a season pass for snowboarding or working on my shee ::
9. I'm going to be taking the engine apart here soon to rebuild the top, check clutch, and true weld crank. So while I have the bike apart I thought about doing something about the rusty spots on the frame. My dad is the manager of a Auto Body shop here in town and I'm thinking about getting it painted. I don't want anything clear coated. I want a paint job that I/the painters at my dads work could do that will be TOUGH and Black. I'm thinking that just regular prime and paint will chip, So do you guys know of a product that I could use to spray on the frame that I can buy at a hardware store? Something that will last and not chip if done right. Thanks, Josh
10. Yeah I think I'll call my local shop tomorrow to see what he charges for true welding. So, just for clarity, the crank has two pieces (one for each side) and the are just pressed together?? If so, why would they build it like that??? Oh and I think my lights are Trail Tech.
11. Is the true welding something my dad could do? he has a welder and many years experience in welding. Or is this a precise thing? I can't wait to get it back out there, maybe I'll be able to squeeze another day on the dunes :baseball_w00t:
12. What does trued and welded mean and how much does this cost? I do have a Clymer already, I've been reading it alot lately....learned a bunch. Luckily me pa was a mechanic for 25 years so he has EVERYTHING i need to do what i want to it. The only thing I don't have is the means to bore the cylinders (hopefully I won't have to do it) I plan on taking a look at the clutch while I'm at it, what should I look for? I do want to get the seal/gasket kit and change all of those as well. And just a top end. I've done quite a bit of research on the forums here, sounds like wiseco pistons. I am also going to lube up everything (cables, joints, etc.). My 'shee has (from what I know and can remember) T5 pipes, jet kit, dual K&N without the air box and pre-filters, boost bottle, park break block off, Pro Peg Nerf Bars, Chrome lights (I think they're Trail Master?), Three level (rounded) front bumper, I think thats it... Anyway, thanks for the responses, I'm pretty excited to get started. Josh
13. I just got an '01 Banshee, runs good just has little compression and has never been rebuilt. I am going to start the rebuild here soon (doin it myself). I think while I'm at it I'm going to take the whole engine apart and rebuild the whole thing just cause I love engines and she will be out of use this whole winter anyway. I just got back from Winchester Bay in Oregon (Amazing Dunes!!!) had a ton of fun but can't wait to unlock its full potential next year after the rebuild. I'm thinking I'm going to need your guys help some, so I though I would say hello!
