  1. I got your PM & I forgot what ones work. We primarily use the FAST frictions & sometimes the Barnett's.
  2. Strutting & lowering will help prevent a wheelie.
  3. What do you fix first, domes, timing or octane? LOL! Something is not happy & you need to get it fixed fast. It will start damaging other things, if it hasn't already. If it was me, I would lower the compression. 500' is starting to stretch it out a little bit. We primarily run 1/4 mile & really notice a difference with the lower compressions. If you are going to take the fuel route first, I would try C14 Plus.
  4. I don't know if I helped out much, but I've never had light chocolate plugs on VP fuel. I think your issues are with the domes, timing or not enough octane.
  5. I have a tech bulletin from VP Fuels. I have primarily race with their fuels & found the bulletin to be correct for our tuning. " VP "C" series racing fuels show a lean appearance on spark plugs compared to other racing fuels," " With correct jetting the plugs will look some where between a new plug to a very light gray color, if there is a yellow tint present that means your are to lean. If there is a green tint you are very lean. A spotty or solid dark gray indicated you are to rich." We have ran across all these conditions & found them to be correct.
  6. It's a guessing game with the clutch info given. That much power, rider/quad weight & on sand should be driving thru the stock springs with only 7g of weight on each arm.
  7. Track, I would at the minimum put a solid strut on the rear & consider the fronts. I prefer using Shaws up front, but the cheapest route would be the struts. Make sure you lower the quad in the process. IMO, this would be a quick, easy & cheap start to helping your problems. I'm not ruling out the clutch springs yet. Without base lining the clutch, it's nothing but guessing with the spring pressure.
  8. Are you changing to solid struts for the drags?
  9. I agree with n2o! He didn't answer the fuel or timing ?.
  10. Gearing, 1st or 2nd gear launch, rider weight, amount chassis is extended, timing/ignition, pipes & carbs/fuel. I think that will give us a bigger picture.
  11. I would start by providing more information on your set-up.
  12. I'm glad sleeper has a clue. IMO, that's a totally old school answer & there's nothing wrong with old school. Clutch tuning is not a magical fix for all that ails a dune/drag bike. The overall set-up needs to all work together to get the desired results. I would start with the cheap areas first to try & resolve your issue(s). I don't think the lower spring pressure alone will solve your problem. Used with other tuning areas like camatv mentioned, along with other areas should help you out.
  13. LOL! Join the list of other's. It's pretty simple Slick & the other's that don't like me or my rants. It's called Manage Ignore Prefs, learn how to use it. You & other's are more worried about what I do/don't do & what I say. Guess what, that's your & whomever else's problem, not mine. So get a clue or continue with your whining.
  14. I think I really owe thanks to Juan & a little to Locohomo. The lock-up tuning thread is really not about Tyler or I. It's hard earned information That cannot be found on any ATV site & exclusive to here. I really didn't plan to give as much information out as I did. It became more of a challenge to help bring our sport to a level compared with other Motorsports. I don't take credit for learning this all on my own. Tedder has played a big part of my clutch knowledge. I hope to make a more user friendly clutch tuning thread in the near future. How/when it's going to be executed will be another story.
  15. To the HQ member's that actually understand & follow the thread. I'll ask again, I need some ideas on how to continue with this thread? I wanted to do it here, but I don't see that working out. The discussion started out in the thread & went to PMs last night. As I stated in one of the PMs. We would have to get Locohomo's approval. Nobody was trying to go around him to do anything. This was my last post in the PM. "I think if Tyler read this PM. He might understand that we or I was not trying to go around him on this thread. I just know how he's when he doesn't understand/care about a subject. That's why I didn't want to bother him by asking. I thought if the HQ member's suggested it, he would buy off on it. That's what I get for thinking."
  16. Tedder, just do a Shout Box archive search from 8:00 am-11:37 am today. That's the reason for the thread getting locked & posts deleted & that's both sides of the story.
  17. I'm sorry for the HQ Member's that followed & replied to the Lock-up Tuning thread. I was trying to improve the thread to make it more user friendly for the member's & I. It was fun clarifying clutch questions in PMs & phone conversations.
  18. phunt is the one that wanted the air gap subject brought up. Most refer to the air gap between the lockup arms & the pressure plate as you stated. Some will tune with this, but we basically look for our minimum gap needed for proper clutch disengagement. Sometimes we change our clutch pack height. That does have a secondary effect on changing the air gap, but as long as it falls between or min. & max. We are not worried about it. However, I think it plays a bigger role in tuning on other styles of clutch management devices.
  19. It wasn't meant as a joke & you know it. J-Madd took it the same way as I, but I went Sharpton. Now if you don't like, that's your problem. You are the one trying to twist out of your own words. It's a drag race, may the best quad/rider win in each race period.
  20. Sounds like a 100% clear, shitty backpedal job.
  21. I'm glad someone has a clue & spoke up. There are many more that know the true side of PR racing. I'm going to address your ignorance, along with the other's. That's more than you all deserve with your keyboard balls & spewing out unknown dribble. I'm speaking of what I know about my 2 Puerto Rican teammates & I. Our ATV financing is done with nothing illegal & more to do with good old fashion work. For the rest of your post, you are way behind times. I thought all this PR hate ended years ago. PR was consistently bashed on in the past. They came to the US & proved or bettered what was said "couldn't be done" by the Naysayer's.
  22. Re: November Race [Re: Nitrobaby] Nitrobaby Site Admin Registered: 08/08/11 Posts: 262 Loc: Northeast Louisiana Sand Drags Will let everyone know as soon as I can.....I'm wanted in arizona and peurto rico in november also....trying to acomidate everyone and keep work going also.....thanks There has been some talk of a Nov. race. According to one PR guy on FB, it's going to happen in PR. I'm curious to see if the race does happen. How many will ship their stuff over to PR. Always plenty of BS talk when PR has to come to the US & prove themselves. I have yet to here about the US BS talker's going to PR & proving themselves.
  23. Here's the other one, not ready for order yet.
