What the ultimate drag motor to build
SlowerThanYou replied to slapahobanshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Now, to give you another clue! A stock chassis, no bar, stock stroke Cub can get you mid to low 6's. A member on here has done it many times. I'm sure there's a time slip floating around BHQ somewhere. LOL! I don't have you confused, but you clearly need a clue for asphalt. Heck, you might even need it for sand. Now, if your only running mid 6's - mid 7's with your above set-up example. You clearly need some more clues about: your lucky clutch settings, your no bar riding, 121 hp alky motor & your asphalt set-up. Now, I've mentioned (in this thread) 3 different/owner Cub combos doing what you can't do . I'm sure none of them are close to your 121 hp. So, then again go try to find your clue. Put that on the back burner & let it simmer! -
Torched didn't happen under my watch, LOL! I'm sure we will get it lined out with Tim's help. It's not that K&T didn't bend over backward for us for a long time. Somewhere along the lines, all they wanted to do was blame my tuning & they didn't know what to do. Heck they tuned the bike on the dyno & I did most everything they wanted for changes. I didn't have the high dollar AR paddles or a 2nd gear launch. Then after all the hype, to find out It ran slower than when I tuned it using no dyno numbers & my tune-up even on race gas. There are always 2 sides to the story & somewhere in between is the truth. We will get it running right. I wish it was with K&Ts help, but it's too late.

The DMX is a turd, so it really doesn't matter. LOL! The 443 Cub was a different matter, it did things I couldn't imagine & neither could other's. Some day we will resurrect the 7mm Cub.

It's an 80/64 motor.

They have billet cases, 45 lectrons & more port timing. Those are the items I know of. The pipes are supposed to be identical, but they measure different. They said my motor maid 1 hp less than theirs, but they had more rpm. We also put on 44 lectrons for the last track session & the D&M dyno session. The motor made it's fastest passes on race gas. It slowed on our alky tune & their alky tune. Pretty sure it's not making any heat in the motor.

This was brought up in another thread. So, I thought I would post it here, with some more info. The DMX made 156 hp/ 90 ft. lbs. torque on K&T's dyno. It was pretty hard to believe & it was only on the screen for very little time with no print out. With their tune-up it went to the track & ran like a 90 hp quad. The same as it did, before their dyno tune-up. How, did I know it ran like 90 hp. Because the ET/MPH was slower than our gas 443 Cub. After me getting frustrated/trying their tune-up. every tune-up I knew, & some I didn't know. I finally voiced some frustration to Randy. He, blamed me for the problems & didn't know what to do. We finally agreed I should be able to take the motor to any dyno in the country & make a minimum of 130 hp. So, Angel took the quad/motor to D&M racing in Phoenix. The motor made 90 hp on it's 1st pull. With no changes & only resetting the dyno it made 120 hp. On the 3rd pull with no changes & only resetting the dyno it made 130 something HP. Somewhere along the pulls it toasted a cylinder, piston & dome. Anyway, my 1st paragraph in my quote describes where we are at now with the DMX.

I passed the DMX to the boy's. We narrowed it down to the pipes/domes or a combination of the two. Angel talked with Tim @ Titan & he had the same problem on his DMX. It took 3 back to back runs on the dyno to make power & heat. Tim's fix was a different dome configuration & a change to the pipes. That's the same plan of attack we are going to use. Hope to have it at the track before the end of the year. I have another set of back-up cub cylinders that were equal or better than the ones I sold. I have my old 7mm crank that needs to be rebuilt. So some time in the future, I've been wanting to put another 443 back together, but thinking about doing it with in frame drag pipes. -

Ricky Torres stated a 5.96 @ 112 on BHQ Facebook Sept. 7 2014 with a 4mm stock frame. I have no reason to think it's not true. I saw the bike personally run 3 or 4, 6.0s, 2 weeks prior on a decent, but good track. -

As far as I know or remember I have never conversed with you until this thread. You seem to think you know about me, that's scary to think you are stalking/lurking on my posts. Most of the made up words have come out of your mouth or other people's posts in this thread. The only one that didn't is that a DM is not required to run the OP's number. I'm looking at my slip with the OP's wanted number. As I referred to earlier as a clue it would take around a 1.30 60' & a 3.80 330' to run in the 5's. It was done on a race gas Cub as stated. Now, those who have read/know my posts. I have posted 4 time slips on this site & said I would not post anymore. The 1st was posted in 2008 or 2009 & was an example of one of our race gas asphalt runs. The other 3 slips was posted in late 2011 or early 2012 of our 1st 3 runs at 300' with the same Cub. With that being said, I'm willing to make you put your money were mouth/keyboard is. You can do it a couple different ways, but either way it's going to cost you money. I'm offline until this weekend, but I'm sure it can be worked out on the details. -

With me sounding like a asshole, what the fuck are you talking about. I gave facts, A DM is not needed, It has been done with as small as 4 mm Cubs on alky & Cubs on gas. I didn't mention or even imply 6s, I'm talking 5s. So, get off your high horse queeny & pull your panties out of your crack. You have something to prove with your no wheelie bar & your lucky clutch settings. Step-up to the plate & prove your wanna-be know it all BS. I don't hide where I race at. You used a lot of words I didn't use in my statement other than a DM is not needed. -

Overall set-up is the key & you don't need a DM to it. A well sorted out cub will do it with a stock frame, even on race gas. Here's a few clues to what is needed; somewhere around a 1.30 60', 3.80s in 330' & lower overall bike/rider weight. While Tedder & I have put down some great times at well over 200 lbs. me being 230+. My best 1/8 times came when I weighed 180 lbs. -
I'm sorry we missed you also, but sometimes life gets in the way of things & I understand that. I don't know what next years trip will entail. I would like to bring the quad set-up for asphalt to race Tedder, but it's not the priority right now. If you plan on Vegas, let me know.

Tedder, I bumped this forward, but extranormal was bought out. I have to see if I can recover the crap somehow/sometime.

LOL! I took it as he would bounce your cylinder head off the nearest object. Maybe tricked could clarify that! -
Trip to the Dragstrip (just sharing result)
SlowerThanYou replied to 2strokes4u's topic in Drag Forum
Thanks for sharing your results! IMO, the 10+ swingarm is still to short for the track. The 6+ is correct for the street & I'm sure you know that. -
Wed. night we stayed in Holton KS. We needed some quad parts & decided to stop to say hello to Jeff @ FAST. It was good to BS with him again, the last time was early 2009 @ Glamis.

Justin on the secret weapon ended up 2nd in the track points championship. He goes to the bracket finals in a week & a half.

Yep it was good to meet you, Roger & Chris! Had fun at all the different tracks I ran at. Milan seemed to be the fastes, but Martin I was on the tree with low .00 lights. I just wasn't doing my job on the big end. The car was running on a 50/50 blend of 100 & 93 unleaded pump gas. It ran 10.02 @ 133.90 mph on the brakes at Martin. Sun. at Milan it was its quickest with a 1.37 60'. I ran it thru the 1/4 & found out the super pro class was the only class running 1/8 mile that day. Glad I'm done racing on this trip. I'm happy with 2 wins out of 6 races.

Headed for Milan in the morning. Should get there around 9:30am time runs start at 10am. elims around 12. It was good meeting alcoholbanshee (Roger) today.
-
Yep, I got a couple passes in last night at Martin before the storm came in. Weather is pretty nice today. I'll get up early Sun. & drive to Milan.
-
Car is fixed, tested at Milan last night. Put down 4 10.0's on a conservative tune-up. Headed for Martin on Fri. but looks like rain, Sat. looks good. Wheelman (Chris) showed up last night. It was good to finally meet him.
-
Fri should be good, we are going to test the fix Wed. @ Milan. We run the programmable digital 6al. We already have it ordered next day air.
-
We ran at ubly this weekend, but had ignition problems. I got new msd on the way. Headed to Martin 131 this Fri. & Sat. Then plan on Milan Sun.
