  1. 4 mill long rod crank Wiseco 795 Series Pisons Cut Stroker domes Cool Head Port job The port job is not required but in order to gain the most out of a 4 mill it is. A stock stroke ported banshee will run circles around a non ported 4 mill. Once you port your cylinders for a stock stroke crank they cannot be ported for a 4 mill. So you kind of need to decide wich road to go down and stick with it. A 4 mill is a great engine and I would deffinatly do it. If your in need of a rebuild there isnt a better time to do it. That way your not replacing good parts with other good parts.
  2. I trail and dune ride my lockup with a standard transmission just fine. It is a direct drive lockup with there New Die Cast Cover. Just make sure you have a good clutch cable and lever. I run the 6 oem springs with mine as well.
  3. You also want to make sure the guys you have do it have a crank end or arbor that they install the flywheel on, instead of clamping the fly wheel directly in the jaws of the lathe.
  4. Post up some pics. I had the same thing happen. The bore was a little tight down on the bottom of the skirt. I did some heat cycles. Rechecked the torque of the cylinder head, and cylinders. Got it good and warm. Went out for a nice easy ride on some gravel back roads. Thought I would open it up for a second to clear it out. Let off the throttle and the rear tires locked up. I hurred up and grabbed the clutch and snaped it a copule times to break it free. It started back up and idled real slow. I didnt shut it down. I let it idle with the radiator pointed in to the wind for probably 5 minutes. I hoped on and took off riding it easy. I never had any problmes with it after that. I burnt a whole 55 gallon drum of race fuel. I am trail riding and notice a lingering idle. One of the cylinders had come loose and blew the base gasket out. I shut it down and get towed back. I go home figuring on pulling the jugs to put new gaskets in. When I took the jugs off I found this dammage from when it intially locked up when I was breaking it in. This was not caused because of the blown base gasket. I just it down right away when i started getting a hanging idle. The pistons were ceramic coated on the domes and a dry film luberant coated on the skirts. The coating saved my cylinders from needing bored. Just a tiny speck of aluminum transfered to the cylidner.
  5. How fast are you normally riding in the trails? Do you find your self in 3rd or 4th gear or is your trail riding 1st and 2nd gear rididng. If your trails are tight and that is your main rididng then I would go with a trail port. If your in 3rd and on up and trails are not super tight then I would go for a Dune port. It gets maximum mid range and top end. It does give up some bottom end.
  6. I would guess your performance to be the same as a piped banshee. It doesnt sound like it has much for engine mods. The boost bottle is actually a negitave mod. It doesnt gain any thing. A round house swing arm has a carrier that is off set. You crack two pinch bolts loose and rotate the bearing carrier. Here is my round house swing arm.
  7. Is that where you trail port one cylinder and drag port the other? Wouldnt it be best to also buy 1 shearer pipe for the drag ported cylinder?
  8. You run a mix of gasoline and the same oil that your running in you methanol as a purge.
  9. Looks good. I dont know why yamaha just left it bare.
  10. trail port will be a midrange port. A dune / play port is a mid to top end port job. It is probably the most common port job for the banshee because it is what the banshee is all about. Strong hit in the mid range and it reves out. Is is of course at the expence of some low end. What pipes are you running and what is the type of riding do you do.
  11. That is what I thought too. They are supose to mimic a port job. So if your cylinders are ported then dont run them. You should be getting the pistons from the guy doing the port work. That way he can measuer the cylinders and see wich pistons you need. Kev should have all sizes on his shelf. That way if there is an issue he can go pull the next size up and bore the cylinders. I dont know why your concerned with running the lightest pistons avalble if your only getting a mx port. A mx port is bottom to mid port job. If you want more performance the get a more agressive port job.
  12. Why not just buy a pair of spark arrested pro circuit silencers. That way your not having to mess with clamp on sparkies.
  13. Yea the PJ34mm is an older design carb. You want a PWK carb.
  14. Yea 80w-90 is not a good idea. It is a hypoid gear oil made for differentials. Most of them contian really high amounts (more than standard automotive engine oil) of Molybdenum wich will cause a wet clutch to slip. Once the clutch is contaminated you have to thow it away.
  15. Yea if you get PC in the finger channels or the small channles where the weight pins run. The pc would cause the weights to hang up and not move freely.
  16. You deffinatly need to port it for a 4 mill if you want it to be fast. It will run fine with out doing it but a stock stroke ported banshee will run circles around a factory ported 4 mill. Once you port your cylinders for a stock stroke crank they cannot be reported for a 4 mill unless your stock stroke port job was not verry agressive. So you kind of need to decide what your wanting to do. You might check the classified's for a pair of cylinders that are alredy ported for a 4 mill. That usually can save you a few bucks. A 4 mill is deffinatly worth the cash. Just build the motor right first. Pipes and carbs, longer swing arm can all be done later on down the road.
  17. The sponcers are going to be using a bulk anodizer. Where they have an alotment of parts done at once. That is why I said to look for a custom paint ball maker anodizer. You will need to tear it down so your just sending in the aluminum body http://gruntbullanodizing.com/index.html http://fbmfactory.com/fbmf/anodizing.html http://www.kohnsports.com/kohnlasering/anodizing.php http://aplusanodizing.com/ http://www.doropaintball.com/Anodizing.asp
  18. Yep I had to space the front pipe hanger out too.
  19. I wouldnt do it. I would think the pc would make it stiff and less effective. If you want a colored lockup just find some one who does Anodizing. There are lots of people who do custom andodizing for Paint Ball Markers.
  20. Yea that would be cool to see. That way you can see how verstial the cylinders are.
  21. Yea then 5 years down the road when they find it dangerous they can force the company to do a recall. That would cost them cash.
  22. Yep. I wouldn't build a stroker motor with a spacer plate. If your going to port the cylinders then port them for the 4 mill crank. A 4mill port jobs doesnt cost much more than a standard stock stroke port job. It is more reliable than the spacer plate and it gives the guy doing the port work more room to custom taylor the port job to your riding style.
  23. There isnt really any perfomance difference. Running a cool head with stroker domes allows the guy poring the cylinders more freedom. When you put the 2mm plate under the cylinders you instanly raise/advance all port timings 2mm. Most builders will want to raise the ports by them doing it with there porting tools not a 2mm plate.
  24. That still doesn't mean they know what they are doing. Porting a 4 stroke head is much easer than porting 2 stroke cylinders. With the 4 stroke head your just trying to improve air flow. With a 2 stroke your opening the ports up. When you make them taller your changing when the air and fuel enter the cylinder and when the exhaust exits. You also need to know to make the ports at the right angles. Other wise the fresh air and fuel will blow right out the exhaust port. Porting a 2 stroke is like putting a performance camshaft in a 4 stroke. The cam changes when and how long the valves stay open. The same goes for 2 stroke ports. You wouldn't let some one weld up and regrind a camshaft to run in in a 4 stroke that doesn't know what they are doing would you? Even though it is free? Throw a 4 mill crank in there. Now you have the piston falling 2mm farther down the bore and popping up 2mm out of the bore, this drastically affects the port timings, and the cylinders needed to be ported to correct it. I would highly suggest having a Banshee SPECIFIC shop do the porting. They know what they are doing, they specialize in it. Unless you really don't care how it runs, but want to brag "It's Ported" and it didn't cost me anything. You Can Go Broke Trying To Save Money
