  1. What about using gasoline as a solvent to clean parts. It has always washed oil off for me as well. The problem isnt the ethanol. It is improper storage and not using an oil that blends wth alachol. All our premium pump fuel here in nebraska contains ethanol. I have been running it with out problems.
  2. Assembly has a big part of reliabitly. That is what I would pay a little extra for.
  3. I guess the good news is you now have a convertable with a removable hard top.
  4. Yes the bigger you are the more you notice it. I weigh 250 and didnt like it. It also depends on who shaved it and how much they took off.
  5. Yea their is a reason why he would swap you.
  6. Is he giving it to you or do you have to swap him your stock one for his cut one? I ran one for about a week or two before I swaped mine out. Just about all it does is make you banshee "Sound" fast. It will rev up quick in neutral. It will be easier to bog launching off the line, and it will fall off the pipe easier.
  7. Then I guess the subject line of the this thread should be Vito's 2mm Head Spacer Plate.
  8. Yamabond or any thing else on a head gasket is a band aid. If it wont seal on its own then there is something wrong and should be fixed right.
  9. Umm no it wouldnt. You would do that if you wanted to cobble it up. You shouldnt need any gasket sealer. If you do then the cylinder decks are not true or the head is not true. If you must use something then look for K&W Cooper Coat in the aersol can. It is made for headgaskets.
  10. You do realize that is for a stroker crank right? Just making sure. A cool head with cut stroker domes is a much better option than a 2mm thick head gasket.
  11. Fire it up cold and hold the throttle wide open in Neutral. It really seats the rings well.
  12. Or a charriot billit plate if you want a regular style.
  13. I would go for one of these plates. It is a newer design. The plate says stationary and you slide the pickup coil on the plate. Much easier to adjsut since you dont have to wrench behind the flywheel. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BANSHEE-BILLET-ADJUSTABLE-TIMING-STATOR-PLATE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aa73cd674QQitemZ320633362036QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  14. Are you sure the coolant didnt get in the engine when you took the head off? Did you pull the two small drain bolts out of the sides of the cylinders?
  15. Dual carbs are easy to tune. You just do to the second carb what you did to the first one.
  16. A Mod Quad head is a no go for me as well.
  17. My T5's were really close too. I just turned the carb slightly.
  18. Just so you know the bolt doenst go clear through. The rubber isolator has a stud sticking out one side. and a threaded insert ont he other.
  19. RK GB520EXW 8500 tensil strength. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=36&navTitle=Drive&webCatId=9&prodFamilyId=3591 If you want to drop some cash you might consider an upgrade to a 530 chain.
  20. Autometer makes a 2 5/8 in liquid filled temp gauge. Regular atuomotive temp gauges do no last.
  21. Bead or sand blast it. It will even out the surface and give a uniform rough finish.
