  1. Yep that is what I would do. You only really need 2 tabs all to gether anyway. :yelrotflmao:
  2. Let me guess. It is just a little faster than the 80's Yamaha Moto 4's. Yea you might think it is a turd but your forgetting that this machine is for his wife. It is a pretty safe bet that his wife is going to be more concerned with COMFORT and EASY OF RIDEABILITY, than having the fastest machine on the planet and jumping it off of 10 story buildings. Like I said your going to have people tell you how UnCool the Z400, KFX400, and Artic Cat 400 are. It is going to be one of the best riding machine for your wife. josh
  3. make sure u get the superduper one. You should go a head and order a spare topend. Save u on shipping. The added weight will crack the intakeboots, cause ur banshee to lean out and burn up the top end.
  4. Yep 4mm stroker cranks for $400 and Stock bore non ported cylinders for $225 on ebay.
  5. I always thought about doing the reverse. Get the ones that are already powdercoated black and polish the outside ring. That way rocks and gravel wont chip the coating off the outside ring.
  6. Checking those parts with a Infred Temp gun isnt going to accurately tell you how hot the engine is running. If you want to know how hot your engine is running then you need to install a water temperature gauge.
  7. I am just giving you crap. Just looks like you dont really want to build a trail machine that is all. :yelrotflmao:
  8. 24:1 is to much oil. The most that people run is 32:1. Some people run as little as 50:1 I run Klotz Supertechniplate. (it is a blend of 80% Synthetic oil 20% Benol Caster Racing oil.)
  9. get that beast ported then get the 33 mm carbs. I love my 33's they are a great carb. I run trails with my mx port and 33 and it feels great. No lack of throttle responce at all.
  10. Before you buy anything take a look at the Kawi KFX400, Suzuki Ltz400 or the artic cat 400. They are all the same machine just depends on what you want it to look like. Just look on the frame you will find that it is manufactured by Suzuki. Any one of these machines would be good for your wife. The have a real comfortable seat. They have a more comfortable ride than the 450's. You can turn the handle bars like it had power steering. They have a lower first gear so it is easier to take off and less likely to kill it. They have reverse. Just take one out for a test drive. Take her along and let her ride it as well. Dont test drive it in the parking lot, cause that wont let you know how it rides in the real world. The YFZ, Trx, and Kawi 450's are designed for the track. I am not saying they are bad machines. If you want to minimize the complaing from the opposite sex then get a machine that will be best for them. I know it isnt as "Cool" to have a Suzuki LTZ400 compaired to a 450 but if you want her to go riding with you and not complaine then take a look at the Z400.
  11. I would say your jetting is off. What size is the main jet? What size is the pilot jet? What needle do you have? (should be a 3 lettered code. CEK, CEL, DEK, exct.) What Clip Position is it on? How many turns out on the air screw? Did you sync the carbs. Both the Idle adjustmet and the cable lift needs synced. The easiest way is to use a tool that fast sells. It can be done by hand but it wont be as accurate as this tool will get you. Fast Carb Sync Tool LINK
  12. Get the reeds first. When you send your cylinders off to get them ported then have him get you the PWK 33mm. I am suprised you dont have any porting yet. Those pipes with no port job cant be the best combo. josh
  13. What did you deside to do? You can get VP in 5 gallon cans, 30 gallon drums, and 55 gallon drums. You will have to pay a drum chage. It is refundable when you bring the empty drum back with the plugs. The guy at the local drag strip around hear sells that Sunoco fuel for $260 for a 55 gallon drum. That is a pretty good price. 5 bucks a gallon. VP is a great fuel.
  14. Hay just wanted to say thanks for you guys's help. I know what it is like to not hear back on what you said. Wondering if the person you gave advice helped or not. One turn out on the screws and moved the needle down from the 3rd to the 4th did the trick. Now i just have to get the main changed for this cold weather. I will probably go up 2 sizes and do a chop. Can you do a plug chop at 1/2 throttle to see how the midrange is tuned. Do the same thing as a WOT Chop only use 1/2 throttle? josh
  15. Those are just the silencer or muffler part. The spark arrestor is a screen that is inside the mullfer or silencer. Some spark arrestors slip on over the end of the muffler. Here is what toomey's spark arrestor looks like.
  16. If your wanting to run an air box then I wouldnt get a boss intake. It is pretty thick and will make running an air box a pain in the rear. UPP makes just rubber carb boots that are bigger for 33 to 35mm carbs. Here is a boss racing intake pic. I would just run pods with outerwears, unless your banshee serves as an outboard boat motor.
  17. I run genuine Keihin PWK 33mm carbs on my trail shee. Jeff at fast told me that 28mm kiehins were a wast unless you were just going to put pipes on you banshee. Just get a boss intake then you dont have to worry about the bowl hitting the clutch arm. It is retarded to have the bottom bolt hole welded up to clear the clutch arm. Now you have to take the 4 philips scres out and take the whole bowl off to change the main jet. If you dont have the bolt hole welded up then you just un screw the bolt witha 17mm wrench and changed the main jet throuhg the hole. josh
  18. you could use a spacer. Most people get it ported for the stroker crank and run no spacer. You will need 795 series pistons if you get the long rod stroker crank. The cylinder head will also need cut for the stroker crank if you run no spacer plate.
  19. There is a VP Race Fuel dealer in Ft. Lauderdale. Here is there contact info according to VP's web page. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Phone: 954-565-7670 Fax: 954-565-7696 vpflorida@aol.com VP has all kinds of race fuel blends. I would probably go with VP C12 or VP110 or VP Red. You have to watch the oxygenated fuels as they can destroy a set of carbs if you dont drain the fuel after your done riding. The oxygen corodes the aluminum. VP Race Fuel LINK
  20. Sunoco is a good brand of race fuel. I wouldnt buy it from there though 14 bucks a gallon is way to high. Go to your local drag strip or race way and see if there is some one selling fuel. There usually is some one selling it in the pits. There is a local guy that sells 55 gallon drums of that same fuel for 260. Only 5 bucks a gallon compaird to you paying 14. You might look for local raceway's web page. Some times you can find guys that will be selling it that way to. Pluse you dont have to pay shipping. josh
  21. Here is my Boss racing Intake. You need to deside if your going to bigger carbs before you buy one. Boss has two that have the built in crossover. 26mm-28mm carbs, and the other is for 33mm to 35mm carbs. I like my boss racing one. I am sure it is like most aftermarket ones, they use Mikuni rubber boots that can be bought for around 15 bucks if you happen to need new ones.
  22. Order a softer spring from Jeff at FAST. I have them in my dual 33mm carbs and they pull easier than the stock carb setup. I took my extened thub throttle lever off because I dont like how far you have to push it to get to WOT.
  23. Get you a pair of CEK Needles. Those really helped my banshee out when I ran Keihin PJ 34mm Carbs
  24. I will try the one turn out. If is is more than 3 truns out I need a size smaller pilot jet and re adjust the air screw right?
