  1. Dont take my work for it, but I believe so. I was really anal when I reassembled my frame, and I remember following ALL of the torque specs in the Clymer manual. Unless I have a different edition then you, they worked for me.
  2. For the YFZ parts check out YFZ central forums, theyre are always guys either parting bikes, or ditching stock stuff. Good prices and stuff on there. I scored my YFZ calipers there for $50 for the set.
  3. Many things that it could be. It could just need a simple adjustment/cleaning. Or if the pipe on the right smokes more it could mean that your crank sels are starting to go and your burning crank oil. How does the bike run otherwise? The bowls on the carbs could be swapped from side to side if it has been running kind of shitty too.
  4. I used to use the Maxxis 4-Snow tires and they were pretty good. I never tried anything else to compare them to though. I still have a set that doesn't have but a couple hours on them, if your ever down my way you can have them with the aluminum rims for a really good price.
  5. Nice writeup!! You'll notice a big improvement. I put them on my bike when I did my build, and I love them. 10x better then stock. The only problem is they can be a little pricey. I think I paid upwards of $100 for them. But I heard if you wantch the boards like YFZ central, you can score them cheap if someone is parting their bike.
  6. I wouldnt throw in a head and domes to try to raise the compression. That isnt a solution, the engine definately is going to need some work. But yeah, you want to pull the jugs and measure the bore, it is detailed in Clymers, you might be able to get away with rings and a hone.
  7. Wow, that's really low, I usually rebuild at 100PSI, but you will basically gain more power everywhere once you rebuild it. It definately sounds like it's time.
  8. Uhh it's T O R Q U E. And you really should buy a Clymer's manual because there are a few different torque specs for various bolts in the case, the $25 will be well spent. If I stop being so lazy, I'll try to run out to my shop and get you the specs for the basic case bolts or maybe someone else will post them up in the mean time.
  9. Not to mention that engine has to rattle the shit outta that frame. The CRs had no counterbalancer, so it's usually a bad idea to put them in a quad frame without a hit ton of modification.
  10. It's a single piston. I tried a couple different rear dirbike calipers (250s and 450s) with no luck, and I also tried the front YFZ caliper with no luck. I couldnt find any dual piston caliper to fit my Banshee rear. If anyone does find anything that will bolt up, be sure to let me know.
  11. That's true, it's alwyas good to give it a once over. But there are some Banshees that are barely worth even parting out, so you still want a good base to start from. I would never take a shitty banshee to ride, even at a cheap price. More of a headache then it's worth.
  12. I just came across this post, but I'm definately diggin' that bike. I'm glad you got rid of those goofy lookin' headlights too!!
  13. How many 2 strokes have you ridden before this? Sounds kinda normal, you could always change the gearing and bump up the timing to +4. FMF pipes give decent low end, and thats going to eb your cheapest/easiest way to modify the powerband is pipes. So I'd say that it for the most part how the bike is going to ride, unless you want to start spending some dough on port work/strokers.
  14. Must be, for 75gs I could build one helluva Banshee. Fuck, I could probably build 2 or 3.
  15. Do you think he'll let you check the compression, I usually don't ask when buying a bike. As long as it kicks over on the first or second kick, thats usally a good indication that the bike is jetted properly, and has good compression. I also try to look at and inspect most of the visible gaskets make sure it doesnt look like thyre leaking, same thing on the crank case, make sure there arent any oil leaks. And no leaks again on the coolant system. Also, if you can, wobble the tires, make sure the hub bearings and axle bearings are tight. If you can take it for a short ride, or ask the owner to, and make sure everything sounds and shifts good.
  16. I would probably use the cable for the 29PWKs with a stock throttle. When I ran the 28PWKs I ordered a cable for the PWKs and a stock throttle except I had a Terry Cable Dual Gasser and it worked fine. If yo call up CPW, Carb Parts Warehouse they should have the cable, and if you tell them its for a twist they might be able to make a better suggestion on the cable. Good luck!!
  17. WTF is this? This must be the "who can ask a more outraegous price for a banshee contest". I'm going to put mine up on ebay for 100k.
  18. Pont de Vaux, its a 12 hour race every year, and Banshees ruled it for a long time. I'll try and find a pic of the setup they were using.
  19. You wouldnt see a spacer plate most of the time because the better way to build a stroker is to have the cylinders ported for the longer crank. I don't have a stroker and I wouldnt know how to tell without opening it up, but maybe someone else will chime in that does. Judging by your sig it sounds like you have quite a bit of work done to the bike, and Banshees do pull hard so I'm thinking even without a stroker, you should be pretty close to beating that bike, depending on the rider too of course.
  20. Thanks for the warning. My buddy got a trail map, so we're going to try our best to stay on the trails. I heard they're pretty well marked as well. We're really responsible with that kind of stuff. Definately believe in treading lightly. How are they on bikes up there? If I can, I plan on riding my YZ most of, if not all of the time. I'm like 50-50 with the lid, I'll probably wear it since I don't know the trails and stuff that well but I just hate wearing a helmet.
  21. Comin from a guy that has a 4 poker in his sig. I see this has turned into another 2 stroke pride thread. Fuck, I'll roll with it. 2 STROKES FOREVER, FUCK 4 STROKES!!!!!
  22. Uhh, Ive seen smaller bikes, even 125s get traded for Banshees before. I wouldnt, but hey, its worth a shot.
