it wasn't huge HP gains or anything.. but it did debunk the myth that less oil was better performance.. IIRC.. They dyno work was done by M&M. It was posted quite some time ago. IMO.. Oil is good. I got a good chunk of money wraped up into my motors.. cutting back a few ounces of oil on a tank of fuel is not saving me a ton of cash.. I'd rather have more oil in there.. More thats in there.. the better chance its going to get to where it needs to be. Just my opinion. to each their own.

Dyno's showed more HP when mixed rich compared to lean. The dyno's were posted here on HQ..

If I had to guess.. cushions wore out and they were not replaced in a timely matter. It beat the backing plate and fasteners to death and you ended up with the aftermath.

In the 15yrs that I've had my hinson.. I've only replaced one backing plate They're only 20.00 from hinson vs the 50.00 that mattoon wants. Also, their newer plates seem stronger then the one that came with the basket. Hinson cushions on the other hand are complete garbage and are trashed in about 5hrs. Problem is people let the worn cushions go.. and you end up with a mess like this.

They dont always engrave on cylinders. But here is my old heap.

if the motor was ported by them, you'll have a serial number on the under side of the intakes.. they keep record of every motor they port. if that number is there.. they can tell you all the specs based off that number. Many moons ago I was on their support team.

I was thinking the same thing! lol Its safe to say I spent more time in the dunes in OK then I did in Silver lake the last few years.. I got spoiled, and going back to our sand box just isn't the same.

just throwing this out there.. but the hinson cushions are junk.. They wear out in one weekend.

dont know how.. but i've seen stingers out there with no sparkies.

the better question is.. is it worth it.. Depending on his motor configuration, he might see minimal.. if any gain. I could understand if he was coming from stock cages/reeds the gains would be there to justify the $200. But not knowing his motor setup and riding style.. the $200 could be better spent elsewhere.
