it also did not idle, should i do both pistons or just the one, top end has only few hours

to make it a short story, got project running, rode it for 10 minutes and it died, nut on flywheel wasnt tight and fell off,put it back on and she fired right up. rode for a couple hours and it ran fine. the next day took it out again , after 15 minutes she started to break up (poping out of tailpipe on left side) and overheating ,took it home did comp. test ,r side 140 psi, L side 10 psi. took head off , hole in top of piston on left side ,( new top end) then i take clutch cover off and plastic impeller gear is broken in half, and what looks like a washer and c clip all bent up and mangled. came off the gear behind the clutch hub that goes to the kick start gear, would the over heating problem do this to a piston ? can i just change the bad piston ,the cylinder looks good .(top end has only 3- 4 hours ) ? and do they after market impeller gear ,(not plastic)? has this happened to any one else? thanks for any help you guys can give me.

when i check for spark i take plugs out of head , makes it easy to kick over. can do it with your hand

how do a leak down test and what tools do i need?

take your time and do it right ,buy good parts ,not just any shit.building them is half of the fun(i think) i would try to find a roller (no motor ) this way you get most of the parts you need in one shot ,probably cheaper in the long run and you can still buid it the way you want. i see them on ebay all the time good luck

i got 2002 cr 250 very very clean , brand new top end (done every 30 hours )and crank seals ,v force reeds ,pro taper bars ,renthal sprockets , works chain ,just had forks serviced ,sticker kit , gripper seat cover , EXCEL rims, talon hubs, bulldog spokes, (1300 bucks just for rims) pro circut pipe, new tires. bike is super clean.

i got a cdi box for you just took it off my quad will fit a 87 whent through the same problem it ended up it was the key switch , it was rusty where it made contact , i got one from yamaha (45 bucks i think)it started rite up. i did the same as you,bought non running banshee with no spark, took me a while to get it running. check everything the whole wiring harness, every wire. if you need cdi let me know ,

first are the lower arms the same on a jarm as a a arm frame, and can i use my j arm spindles on my a arms now i bought a arm frame just seeing what i need to put every thing on

just took off head off and there is a 1/4 inch hole in the top of the piston , what the hell caused that , lean or timing off

the head and cylinder nuts are all torqed corectly will pull aprt to see what it looks like, still want to know why it happened?

just did another compression test , right cylinder 140 psi, left cylinder 10-15 psi SHIT how the hell did this happen? two questions , can i just do top end on one side( top end is brand new) and if i do,i dont want it to happen again . 140 psi is like new ? (stock head ,stock carbs ,tors removed, just pipes) live sea level n.y. also would this cause over heating

if was tring to get a couple grand for my shee i would at least put a stator cover on it, thats just me . <10 or 15 bucks>

i had my brothers and my bikes in my garage when someone tried to steal them, we had 5 dirt bikes <one storing for friend> 2 brand new srteet bikes < R1, cbr> my banshee and his 450, 60-70 thousand dollars ,they were all locked together with KRYPTONITE cable locks, i was out of town for the weekend and they tried what looks like all night to cut them . they never got through them, those locks save our bikes buy them they are worth every penny i have like 5, i lock my bikes to the trailer or truck when i take them out ,look away for a minute and some asshole will steal them. now my garage is alarmed to keep out the pieces of shit! ps i think KRYPTONITE will pay if your bike is stolen while locked up if they get through lock.

they make paint thats made to paint on plastic but it probably still wont work very long because of gas fumes
