  1. Hey picked up some parts over the winter and now installing them. Got some new carbs, but dont know where to start really with jetting them. Mikunis i know but I have little experience with Keihins. anyways its piped, trail ported, shaved head, 30mm carbs all at sea level. I got 158 mains right now and I think it was 55pilots in them, will have to check those again, havent finished assembling but just wondering if this is a good start for the jetting. Thanks for the help

  3. using old pistons seems a little sketchy to me thats just asking for a broken skirt but glad to hear i wont need to bore
  4. did a compression test on my cylinders and with port work they are down to 90psi so im gonna rebuild her what i wanna know is when people do rebuilds on motors that didnt blow do they usually bore them or just buy a new piston kit the same size and put it back together without boring? or if its a judgement call how do you tell whether to bore your cylinders, mine are not scratched up at all they look good thanks
  5. any tips on how to get them out, i need to replace them and am having problems getting them out are they pressed bearings? or just beat the crap outta them?? any help appreciated thanks

  7. i guess another question would be what is a durable mx tire too when i am not at the track i like to rip around the gravel pits and dirt pits I found with the turf tamers I was constantly tearing holes in the sidewalls from sharp rocks knarlys 4 ply or 2 ply?
  8. hey getting into some mx racing for next season so im building my shee over the winter on my last shee i ran turf tamers on hardpack to loose and they worked well but next year the tracks are raging from sandy, to loose dirt, with the odd muddy track after rain Anyways what would be the best tire for sandy loose dirt tracks i was thiking knarlys but i wanted to get some tips from you guys thanks, i know im going to get alot of answers but ill know my options better

Well could be alot of things you say blown like is there a hole in the piston??? its burning up orings for some reason so its probably getting hot for some reason check the jetting, airleaks, water pump, antifreeze leaks etc.... Also could be detonating, what size domes are in the head?? is he just running pump fuel, he may need race fuel something to start with maybe

  11. sorry for posting this on this site but its the only site i know of for these types of questions, or if anyone can point me to a 4stroke site where somebody may know that would be great as well Anyways my buddy picked up a lt230s in parts and asked me to build it for him, the project is going slow but now i am at the wiring, off the stator its similar to a banshee since its a kickstart bike. there are 2 plugs that i hooked up, there is no way they go to the other plug, different connectors. then there are 2 mysterious wirings coming off it as well. the bike got painted with the wiring on by the moron before me, so i scraped the paint off and one wire is blakc and the other is orange it appears. on a banshee orange goes from the cdi to the coil, but this orange wire i thought was like the yellow light wire coming off the stator of a banshee and the black i thought would be the same as a banshee and just ground it out. thats not the case though if you ground the black there is no spark on the bike. Everything else seems hooked up correctly, its a new plug so its not a plug issue. \just wondering if somebody could help me out and let me know where these 2 wires belong, then i can go from there and try and figure out if its good or something else is up. i am kinda suspecting a bad coil because i have tryed these wires in several spots now and nothing. thanks guys
  12. will it not rev at all???? like not even 500rpm???? If thats the case check all the TORS junk, you may have put in the eliminator kit on your carbs but forgot to unplug a part of the system, that happened to me once and same symptoms, check the black box attached to your frame above your left cylinder, if its plugged in, unplug it and throw the box in the garbage to save the problem next time Also a plug for it runs to your brake lever as well I beleive, mine has been gone for so long i forget now, but unplug that one as well........ or maybe that was the brake light lol just try and see what happens

Hey I know its the wrong forum, had this topic on the jetting forum for a day, no replies, i know this section is more popular so i tryed in here Anyways I got a set of pod filters for my banshee but dont know where to start for a main jet. I got fmf pipes, shaved head, wolf cdi, mild port, stock carbs, everything else stock, at sea level I was thinking like a 320-340ish or so but I wanted to ask before I go wasting money on jets, tight on money these days lol.
