Thanks for the reply. I've been trying like crazy to come up with a good set. Are the Pro Designs sold today the same style as the ones your old bike had? I've got an unknown set that are excellent and a set of Vitos that match up also. Both have good heavy duty boots. The set you spoke of on ebay do match. I have a pair of those on my wifes bike but they have thin Mikuni boots and aren't very stout. The Trinity and Chariots that I got are cut much larger than my V-2 cages so there is a big ledge that disrupts airflow.

Hasn't anyone got a pair of intakes that match the old V Force 2 cages?? I don't mind if I have to buy new boots.

The newest intakes I've bought are from Chariot and Trinity. They both have a larger internal throat that doesn't match up to V-Force 2 cages. The ledge crated where they bolt together has got to disrupt airflow. Does anyone know of an intake thats being made these days that match up correctly? Thanks

Carbs need to be balanced to the rest of your setup and riding style. I'm a full out balls to the wall 1/4 mile asphalt racer. There are a bunch of good guys on the site that have similar setups to yours that can make recommendations.

Yes sir. They gum up. Pretty bad sometimes but it will clean off. I'd spray and work the rod & wrist pin bearings while your there.

If all was good when it was parked then I'd agree with the last two posters. The rings are stuck... When they sit around and the fuel dries off the oil glues them up good. That happens all the time to used pistons sitting on my bench. Bearigs will do the same thing. You'll be able to bring it back to pre storage condition without a rebuild etc.

I agree BigRed. It's cool that you read and follow up on the safe use of products you use. You'll probably be in better shape than me when you reach my age lol. Unfortunately I think people become desensitized because warning labels and dangers are so prevalent in our daily lives. Heck, there isn't anything made that won't cause cancer in the State of California. Not everyone's lucky enough to have a state of the art shop. Countless DIYer's only have home garages or machinery sheds to work out of. I'm sure certified welders are schooled on the dangers of brake cleaner and wouldn't be surprised if most in the trade don't need to use it. In this case even good ventilation or open doors may not be enough. A few whiffs of smoke is all thats needed to cause deadly heath problems. We all seem to have the ability to gauge dangerous situations and avoid those with immeadiate deadly consiquence but unless something will drop us in our tracks those with cummulative effects such as smoking (I don't), getting methanol, gasoline or carb cleaner on our skin etc, possibly even cell phone use we tend to not be as careful. I hope my post isn't was just another warning that gets ignored.....

You most likely seized a piston and will find the tranny is fine. The video is helpful but you need to get a manual for sure. Also, The top case bolts final torque is only 7.2 ft lbs. not 20 as said in the video.

True that the argon turned it into phosgene which is extremley dangerous but when burned it releases corrosive gasses that can cause big problems and damage. Just want everyone to be safe...

This info isn't new but I hope to spread the word to those who may be unaware of the dangers of using brake cleaner around flame or welding. When I originally found out about it I thought I'd warned my son until he recently told me that he was almost overtaken when working with it in the garage with a kerosene heater going. Hearing that made my blood run cold! He hadn't used that much or sprayed it towards the heater. I try to mix only enough fuel (alcohol) to ensure that I won't run out at the track and used to dump what was leftover but after talking to Klotz and Benol I quit wasting the fuel. Both told me that as long as the fuel was in an airtight, sealed (preferably steel) container off the floor that all it needed was a good shake and it was good to go. I've since used fuel that was held over from one season to the next. As old as 8 months with no problem. I strictly run asphalt and my ET slips have never indicated the fuel had gone stale. *RadarRacing is correct that you don't want to leave alcohol in your vented fuel tank* On a cool Ohio night when I purge at the end of the day I can watch the fuel in my drain pan turn white within minutes from moisure in the air.

It's not at all uncommon to dress the key to fit. As stated ealier. Lay a file on the bench and work down one surface only. Also, No need to have it so tight that it needs pounded in.

I've never seen Klotz leave deposits like that. Mods list says @ 40:1 - Must be 40 parts oil to 1 part gas
