First thing i would do is look for some good used pipes, T5s, pro Circuits, Fatties, etc. depending on your riding style and then get a timing plate set at plus 4 degrees. After that maybe a milled stock head or Noss aftermarket head. Make sure to rejet carbs after all this. That will make for a FUN/ Reliable bike.
