  1. 15 minutes from Hazleton/Paragon, plenty of free (probably illegal trespassing tho) riding space where I am. I can get to "Shendo" from my house, all off road except a couple crossings. There are huge coal banks out there. Also a little place near me they call the "playground", again, more coal banks. Mostly just follow the power line and fire break roads..

Where about are you?? We actually ride from Weatherly and hit all the other places through the trails and powerlines. Are you near weatherly?

  2. I ride mostly in Hazleton area up the mountains, but also ride places like rausch creek, manchester, shamokin, and I venture down your way occasionally too. A friend of mine lives somewhat close to Bromley's and we ride right from his house through the train station and down the tracks to the different spots. I've never had my banshee there though, just my bike.

  3. I've definately noticed what Loco said to be 100% true. I used to be the nice guy and I've recently changed my attitude towards women. They love the assholes, thats all I can say.

  4. Just found a guy in town selling his 86 250R. Its sat in storage for the past 16 years, and is supposedly in great shape (haven't went to look at it yet). He wants $2800 firm for it. Stock or close to it.

Should I get it? (No, I won't be getting rid of the shee, this would be for a toy, and for my dad to ride)

Where are you from? I've got a fairly clean mostly stock '87 with title that I'd let you have for less than that. Im in the Philly area btw.

  5. We're only a couple of weeks away from Round #5 of the Atlantic Grand Prix Series.

And it's shaping up to be one of the best Cross Country races in the North Eastern United States.

If you ever wanted to ride Unadilla NY this is the next best thing.

I did the first annual Unadilla GNCC last september on my yz250. It was a great time and a really cool place. The second one ever is this september, I believe the 23,24,25th. All you need is to be an AMA member and anyone can race it. Last year at Unadilla was the biggest GNCC event ever, and tv crews are there, all the factory teams are there, tons of vendors, etc. Id recommend it to everybody to go, even if only to watch. Last year the quads raced on saturday and bikes on sunday so I'd assume it will be the same this year. Give it a shot, it's definately worth it!

  6. if i'm not mistaken tho, GM made the switch away from the SBC's of old in '98 for the trucks (which if his has a 350 it would be the Vortec 5.7) and into the new LS based motors in '98 for trucks (i could be wrong tho, thats why i asked) and with that switch, the trucks never got a 5.7L 347cid LS1 that only went into F and Y body's, they got either an aluminum block 5.3, iron block 6.0, iron block 8.1 or deisel

find out which it has for sure, once you open the hood it should be in plain site either on the engine cover or stickers on the radiator support

the 4.8 was also an option ;)

  7. Today was a great day in the Philly area. Me and about 8 of my buddies took a trip to Manchester. It was like 60 and sunny out, perfect for a middle of the winter ride. I was on my yz and there was 4 other bikes and 4 quads with us. Everyone had a great time except my one buddy who blew up his 98 cr250. I saw some other people out there today, but no banshees. Anyone from here out there?

  8. I live right outside Philadelphia PA. I do a lot of riding in old coal strip mines in the poconos and sand/dirt riding in Jersey. Me and my buddies have always wanted to ride on real dunes, and now we may get the chance. We are all 24-25yrs old and have figured that this summer may be the best/only chance we get to do this trip. My question is:Where would the absolute best time be had? If you could recommend any one place to spend a week at, where would it be? Every young kid(at least from my area) dreams of going to glamis to ride, but is it really the best place to go? Please let me know where we should aim for.

  9. they can't put a tranny in anything they always break and parts are way more then the chevs!

    Go for it!

I agree on the tranny thing, but chevy's crap ifs is way more prone to breaking then anything on a dodge(besides transmission) Parts are just as cheap for 'em too, trust me I have one of each.

  10. At Atco NJ 1/4mi track I ran 84mph with stock gearing/tires. I had T5's, k&n, jetted, boyeson rad valves. I've since added vito's superstock pistons, +4 degrees, and swapped out the rad valves for vf3's. I haven't gotten it down the track again though.

  11. It doesn't force you to turn up the gain, thats something you do on your own.  If you turn up the gain too much, and blow the sub, thats your fault that it blew, not the fact that you underpowered it. The same thing would happen if you used an amp that matched the woofer perfectly, if you turned up the gain too much.  Hell, for awhile I was running a JL 12W6v2 in my truck with a 150 watts going to it from a cheap ass amp.  Lasted fine, and never blew.  It wasn't that loud, and the woofer couldn't perform to 1/8 of its capability, but it worked fine until the day I sold it.

What do you think is happening when you aren't playing it at full volume?  Most of the time, the sub is not seeing full power from the amp anyways.

I'm not gonna get into this argument with ya, but just know that underpowering a speaker is not good for it. I wouldnt expect you to understand though, because you have a bass tube :jesterlaugh: in your ride. Anybody with the slightest bit of knowledge knows that you will get a much much better sounding system out of a cheap/mediocre speaker and a good amp then the best speaker and a cheap amp. One of the loudest systems I put together was a 12w6 in a sealed box in a pickup truck and I only ran it off a 250watt amp. Thing to remember is that that Rockford power 250.1 actually put out a tested 980watts at 2ohm load at only 13.4 volts. ;) It's all in the amp if you ask me :shrugani:

  12.  Uhhh, no.

Underpowering them will only result in them not being as loud as possible.  Overpowering them can blow the speakers.  Hell, my current system right now in my truck is a bass tube running off the right rear channel of my cd player.  22 watts of pounding bass  :jesterlaugh: .

Underpowering them could definately blow them. By underpowering them you are forced to turn the gain on the amp all the way up(usually a cheap amp) and this will cause the amp to clip. Clipping will destroy the voice coil in no time, which is blowing the speakers.
