  1. +4 and lightened flywheel will do good with just about any mods. If it revs out too quick for you...you can always drop a pair of teeth in the rear or jump up one in the front. I just got me rockets on...so, gonna have to see how they react with those...
  2. By the time I get done burning me legs with these Rockets....I'll need a 4 stroke for the electric start...
  3. Can't say I blame ya....just trying to help a brother out...low cost style!
  4. Well...I reread his opening statement. 2 out of his three preferred riding conditions would require top end. Open roads and duning. Based on that...we all agree the T5 has more top end....so, it seems pretty clear.... However, it all depends if he's gonna ride more trails then the other two. You definately want the revs for open roads and dunes. I"m tellin ya....with a lightented flywheel and +4...you smooth out that T5 and still have all those good revs...
  5. Thanks...Jeff. If I win the lotto....I'll just send two bikes down there...one for you to keep and another for you to build for me....scout's honor... I'm riding this weekend, and I'm getting the loaner rockets from Ray today or tomorrow. So...next week I'll give her a whirl....
  6. There are several reputable engine builders who can help answer your question. They're probably going to need to see your old crank to tell you if it's worth rebuilding or getting a new one. Anyone that can build a crank can bore cylinders...usualy. Try Jeff @ FAST Racing or Jim @ Passion Racing. They can both help. Search for either on this board..you'll find all the contact info you need to know.
  7. Tell you what...you need a few cheap mods to have all the trail shee you'll need, and still have a good top end for opening up on flat ground. Contact boonman. Have him lighten your flywheel. Also have him send you a new, modded factory shift star, and have him mill your head .020 to .030...depending on your elevation. He can tell you. Then, get yourself a Ricky Stator adjustable timing plate for 35 bucks plus shipping. Honestly... All of these mods will be less than 200 bucks shipped. I've got 'em all BUT the shaved head (soon, very soon) and going from a stock flywheel shee to a lightened one with +4 of timing made a WORLD of difference. It smoothed out the hit of the T5s...and since the motor will rev faster, you make power faster...it almost removes that banshee low end lug. Try these mods...I promise you'll have a better trail shee...and it'll still rip in a race. I have stock gearing in mine...but, in a drag race 1st gear winds out too quickly...so, I ordered a 15 to let it pull a bit longer....and hopefully cut down on wheel spin just a bit. OOPS...just reread that, forget the milled....16cc domes? Geez...what elevation are you at...or...you're using RACE gas...right?
  8. Mainly open roads, some trail and dunes? Yep...T5 it. I might be looking to get rid of mine...soon...for a real good price. How soon you looking to buy?
  9. Well...I bought my T5's used...to save some cash. They're in kinda rough shape. Still run great...but, they need some cleaing up. I've been using a light scotchbrite pad and a die grinder...to get the rust off. Mostly rusted underneath and out of sight.... I got 'em in pretty rough shape, but...I was happy to get rid of the stockers. I'm either going to get some high heat VHT paint and paint 'em black...or, look into getting them rechromed. Honestly...though. I dont' want to spend a fortune. I'm going to try the demo Rocket pipes, and...I have a feeling I'm goign to love 'em and have to buy a set. Soon as I do that...it's off to the HQ for sale section..and then...ebay. So, I dont' want to invest a fortune in them... in all probability I'm going to sell them in the next couple of weeks. Anyone got any good, cheap chromers for the pipes? I'll finish cleaning them up...but, they could use paint OR a good dip... Thanks...
  10. Well...I'm picking up the Rocket Pipe loaners from Minkia by the end of this week...and, I ordered a 15 tooth front from Magic. Should be here tomorrow (they're only about 15 miles or so away...) So...I bumped my timing to +5, going to go about 3 larger on the main (it was a tad rich, but...that's good) I'm hoping it pulls the 15 just fine....
  11. Yeah, I know that Jeff...I just hate wasting your time on the phone. You've got motors to build and have already done more than enough for me on the phone... I don't think I'm tearing it down till Saturday. Are you there on the weekends? If not...I'll leave her apart till Monday.... Thanks again. Boys...take note. We have a ton of people and companies that can do work on the shee, they've been around for almost 2 decades now. This kind of attention is exactly the reason why I can't wait to have FAST port my cylinders as well as freshen up my top end...as well as get a new clutch assembly from them. Now if only FAST could extend me a line of credit... Just Kidding...Jeff.
  12. Get Jeff's clutch from FAST Racing...it's only a few bucks more than if you were to buy a boxed Barnett or EBC, and worth the money. I have a alumininum impeller I'm putting in mine probably this weekend. If my stock plastic is in good shape, I'll ship it to you no charge, if you pay shipping. Again, this is the stock one, and it's a 96 with very low hours...so, I don't know how she looks. Just trying to save you a buck...but, in the long run, the alumnium is the way to go. Got mine on a trade and a flywheel puller!
  13. Shit....that's a helluva a deal. That alone will make a big difference. When you have more money...get some better pipes, unless you fall in love with the Fatty's. I'm telling you...T5's alone made the biggest difference in my shee... Sure, the other mods made it easier to ride, etc. But, stock pipes blow...big time.
  14. I've got the boonman modded shift star. Perhaps one of you could enlighten me on the spring mod...please. I had an aluminum impeller given to me a week ago, and I'm planning on taking the side case off to install it. I'd like to adjust everything correctly. Although my shee does shift better than it did, I know it probably needs to be adjusted, too...and, if the spring deal isn't a big deal, maybe that too.
  15. Nice....and leads on where to get it...and pricing? By the way..that's not a huge picture by any means. I'd actually like to see a larger pic!!
  16. Didn't know they made RAZRs in a 6 ply...good to know, thanks for the info. My shoes on my shee are only about 4 months old...but, good to know for the future. I agree...6 ply is a little better insurance!
  17. I'd be more concerned with the shape/ergos than I would be the weight... I'm sure you won't notice the extra 5 or 6 lbs with fuel/tank added, but...it might feel a bit funny movign around. 5.6 Gallons? Got a pic and/or source. I ride some pretty big trail loops, and extra range would be nice!
  18. Yeah, you clipped/stripped/shorted a wire somewheres, somehow.
  19. I have the XCRs, love 'em. I also like the fact they're 6 ply for the trails. Where you gettin 80 bucks? 63.00 @ Magic, I didn't bother to check RM ATV, I'm sure they're similarly priced. http://www.magicracing.com/view_category.asp?cat=106
  20. http://gixxer.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php For all your Suzi needs. http://forums.cbrworld.net/forums/ For big red machine...
  21. Screw that 500 in a shee....you can come and start that beast for me... I like the screaming twin...long live it!! I met up with a guy on a 500LT this weekend, first thing I asked him was how you like starting that beast. Then he showed me the hole in his riding boot. No, not work boot...RIDING boot. I just had to laugh.... That being said...he handed it to me a few times. Granted, he had paddles and I have XCRS...it was still pretty fast!!
  22. If you wanna moto X or ride tight trails, a good 450 yamie or Honda is hard to beat. Sure...a shee will do it, but...you have to mellow it and setup the old, old suspension, etc. Those 450s handle great out of the crate. However, if you wanna drag, dune, FAST trail ride, etc., a shee is hard to beat. It's a trade off, more routine maintenance on a shee, but it's easier and I'll even say cheaper. Less on a 4 stroke...but, it's not as easy and pricier. Pick your poison... I like riding my buddies 450Rs, I have 4 guys I ride with regularly that have 04 and 05 hondas...but, I love my shee....
  23. Will have to do that.. We'll have to get together and ride sometime, Ray...we're almost neighbors!
  24. Hey...Ray. Silver Lake I imagine? That place had to be a zoo on the holiday weekend, let alone how beautiful the weather was. Have a good time?
  25. I hightly doubt your crank is bent...for now. However, throwing off the balance with a bad flywheel could do that...as well as wreck the seal, etc. Boonman can get you a used, lightened flywheel for very cheap. I think, DON'T QUOTE ME, but...he charges like 60 bucks for a used lightened one shipped. Again, PM him...I'm not 100% sure, he and I worked out a deal...so, ask him. You ruin a crank/bearings/seal, you're gonna wish you spent just a bit more. In this case, better safe than sorry most definately applies!!
