  1. Had more problems that good with TORS. They add too many problems to diagnose if you start having problems... Once I removed my buddies TORS and put K&N pod filters on...he just sat there, and was like...that's it? Did you forget to put something back...as he looked at the pile of parts on the floor.
  2. You did realize the last post on this thread was almost a year ago, right???
  3. I too strongly suggest a Toomey (dynojet) needle or Vitos. Stock needles have a lean spot in the midrange...
  4. Needle in the middle Stock Pilots. With the lid on, 270, lid off, 280 to 300. With K&N Pods, no air filters, T5s and at about 600ft elevation, I ran 330 mains and it was spot on...
  5. Amen brother, I salute you... Worked in garages for years before becoming a computer geek. I decided a long time ago, I'd work smarter...not harder... Howerver...I don't have the land you do, I'm sure...which means you can ride out your barn doors and go for a rip...lucky you. It all balances in the end!!
  6. ALL SX/MX bikes use Nikasil, and if they don't abuse the hell out of their bikes, I don't know who does. Wide open for a 1/2 hour outdoors...each moto, plus supercross. Granted, never rip off on any bike cold. Good idea to warm up anything, I don't care what it is... Dunes need horsepower, Sand sucks power, Cubs make power. It's that simple!!
  7. Good info, Brad...thanks. Sats...I still use and swear by Maxima Super M, and I buy mine in a 64 oz. bottle...
  8. Yeah, sorry to carry on too!! Had some initial problems, ones I couldn't solve wiithout the help of a machine shop. I just got it done last Friday, and I only got to go for a quick rip down the road. All I can say is...WOW. Going from a 45 HP see to 85 is huge...big time. It's been raining cats and dogs here for like 7 or 8 days straight...really bumming me out. Leaving tomorrow for a LONG weekend in the UP of MI with about 20 guys going. To say I won't be able to sleep tonight or tomorrow would be an understatement..!! I'll give a full report back after a long weekend and quite a few miles...stay tuned.
  9. Yeah...what the hell else am I supposed to do at work when I can't surf HQ? What...you want me to actualy work...??? Oh, for chrisakes... I work in IT...so, naturally...I'm like great...who's messing with the content filter, or what's wrong with my browser now?? At least I can pass some time tomorrow... Lee, if you're listening, save the down time for late evening, so us 9 to 5er's have amusement!! J/K...
  10. My logic was 100% backwards... Think about mile high stadium, Denver...less air, (thinner air) so players get tired easier... Less O2, less fuel needed. Now that I actually thought about it for more than a minute, makes perfect sense.. I'll just go back to my little hole over here now...and shut my trap... Seriously, you're dead on...and I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong...
  11. Your right, me wrong. I always thought thinner air required more fuel to compensate...my bad. I re-read sredish's jetting FAQ...and his word is gold as far as I'm concerned... To be honest, I've only rode in MI...less than 1000 feet pretty much anywhere you go, so...I've never had to compensate for elevation, only temps... Thanks for pointing that out...!
  12. Nope. Air is thinner up there...therefore it flows easier, and more fuel (richer jets) must be used to compensate for it...
  13. Not sure if you can replace just the wire...but I think I'd be buying a new Coil just to be safe...
  14. Brad... I should know this since I sold mobil for years (not as an employee...but as a retail repair shop)... But, does the 10W30 or 5W30 have "moly"....
  15. Or it's a fuel problem. Plugged line, plugged jet, etc. Try new spark plugs gapped at .028, then...swap coil wires. See if one or the other helps...
  16. On your own for the premix... I'd run a gear oil type for the transmission... A lot of people run BelRay Gearsaver 80W oil. All I've ever run...no problems...
  17. Sorry bout your luck, too...man. Fucking cocksucking chickenshit bastards. I'd also alert the local dealerships, engine builders, riding clubs, riding areas, etc. Put out the word. Keep an eye on forums and ebay for shit. Again...sorry man...the only thing you could hope for is to get it back fast or hope those ass clowns fuck themselves up on it and have the police show up...double whammy. Good luck bro...
  18. True... Motorcycle gear oil and synthetic motor oil are two different things. As far as penzoil 2 cycle...unless there's another kind, the only stuff I've seen is Walmart and it's used for lawnmowers/weedeaters... If they have a better product, I"m all ears... I've always run Maxima Super M. In my old TS250 (73), quadracer, 94 CR250 and 97 CR250s.... Never had a ring/engine failure... Running it in my Cub at 40:1 with 110 leaded race gas...this should be it's toughest test!!
  19. I don't understand...what do you mean by play? Uh oh...did you make sure the rubber rings are in the top of these caps, to seal and seat the caps? They only need to be hand tightened...then held in place with the gold L Shaped brackets...

Yeah...I could've done either, but...I don't ride very long loops..so, this is the exception to the rule. I do have a 5.5 gallon tank sitting in my garage...but it's so FUGLY that I haven't painted it yet or put it on. Seriously, something this fugly should damn near be against the law. Most places we ride, never more than 10 minutes from the truck...this happens to be an exception...
  21. Possibly...but, if he just took the TORS off, good chance the tops have never been off before. Do the caps like "float" over the tops of the carbs?

That is great to know. I know they ride their sleds from newberry to Munising. The key is going to be where to stash the trucks with gas. I'm not going to trust UP race gas, And I've only seen 103 octane up there...I'd be in trouble!! Thanks for the tip!!
