Also...if you're going to get the 4 mil stroker, you need to figure that out before hand. The domes may have to be cut...porting changed, or a spacer plate...
-
Hot rods are supposedley welded from the factory... That weld is junk....read around, the factory welds aren't any good. I'd talk to a reputable builder and make sure they tell you they grind the factory welds, and reweld it. Also...for 40 bucks or so, get the RZ or TZ bearing... If you're gonna dump 500 for a crank, get the heavy duty bearings...

did you do a plug chop with the 340s in? You say it's lean...but how do you know? New plugs take a little while to color the porcelin..but...the plug chop don't lie.

Going from FMF Gold Series Fattys to T6s
dajogejr replied to thegroup's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Ha... You've got it easy... I just built my 4 mil cub...still not running right. All kind of small issues. Latest one is either CDI, Coil or Stator.... If you going to take the head off, for 20 bucks I'd replace all the orings. I put just a thin coat on all the orings of hi temp RTV. Also...drain all the coolant from your block. The front two studs over the exhaust ports go into the water jacket...permatex those threads, too. Good luck.... -
I bet you'd rather have a newer four stroke for those whooped out trails all around that hill...
-
That baby should rip... Jim's good guy to talk to, why don't you start by directly asking him?
-
I'd say snowfox has given you a good baseline. I hope with 175PSI you're running race gas....or jetting won't be your problem, a hole in your pistons will be...
-
Well...then you just shot yourself in the foot...there. When I bought my swingarm...all emails and PMs were addressed Kyle. Arick is an unusual enough name that I'm 100% certain I'd remember. I have the emails to prove it... Oh...and of course, these two feedbacks. You two boys better be careful, you're caught in a lie again. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=57246&hl= http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...topic=57233&hl=

Word!

That's changed in 06. YFZ and the R are totally revamped motors. The R rules the roost stock...and slightly modded. My buddy has an 04 with a bunch of goodies, 480 kit, 12.5:1 piston, HRC cam, Full yosh, cleaned up head, ignition, flywheel and FCR carbs. It eats stock motor piped shees. I've seen it time and time again. Hate to give him credit...but, it's true. However, port a shee...and it's a whole new ball game!! I'm going to personally wait till the end of this riding season...then pickup a used 450...not sure which. I've always been a Honda guy. However, I've loved the see much longer. I agree...Bansh88. All the new sport quads are quality shit...reliable, fast...and fun to ride.
-
Why? cheap fix...and lesson learned...that's the way it works....
-
It's a trade off. You can spend 2Gs on a 4 stroke, it won't be as fast as that banshee...it will still be reliable, though. Trust me, once you start putting 80 plus HP out, you will start to break shit. I think the 06 YFZ and 450R have MORE HP than their predecessors....stock.

I've always used Bel Ray gearsaver in my two stroke trannys.. From quads, to CRs, etc. I can't tell you about ATF...never used it. However, if you search on here, you'll find there are plenty that do. Personally, I don't mind paying 14 or 15 bucks to change my tranny oil every 3 to 4 rides... Some people don't want to...and I understand it's a helluva lot cheaper for ATF. But, like I said, it's never done me wrong, so I'm not going to switch...
-
Yep...you're done now. After a few phone calls to Jeff, you'll be in jail and/or divorce court...holding up a sign for food. Will ride shee for food... Actually, it's the other way around...if he keeps it up, he's going to be in divorce court. Remember, Jeff... You can sell me any one of those machines for a dollar, and I'll sell it back to you. Just leave the keys....

To clear that up... IP addresses will change if they are different computers from different ISP (providers) However, at my office...all traffic to the net, regardless of which PC you're logged into...will show the same public IP. So it is possible to be at mulitple computers and show the same IP... I'm not going to read the whole PS thing...but, I bought a +6 swingarm from Kyle (a.k.a. sandbanshee32) a few months ago for my 4 mil cub. Fantastic price. It was better than he described, packaged properly and it arrived promptly. Surely, I can't account for everyone's dealings with him... I can only say I had a great experience.....

Same here... A guy from Vito's was at Dynoedge watching them dyno mine, and he couldn't believe it pulled that through stock carbs and T5s...he was impressed. My bud's 450R (480 kit, with goodies) pulled a very respectable 50HP...I was equally impressed.
-
Nope...shouldn't have to. If you bought new cages, especially VForce, you'd probably have to bump your needle... Reeds alone on stock cages really don't need jetting changes.
-
Good for you...man. Watching your own shit on a dyno is cool as hell. I'd go +4 to +6 on the timing... Hell...it's easy enough to change the timing, start at 4, run the dyno,...and see how much power it'll make a degree at a time...you might be surprised.

Which size main with my porting and mods
dajogejr replied to banshee#1's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Well...what do your plugs say. I don't have kehin carbs (yet...) but...from what I've read around here, your mains seem very rich. Normally...they are in the 150 to 170 range. However, you do have a 1 into 2. I'd start with a set of fresh plugs, go for a WOT rip, then see how they look (plug chop)... Plugs don't lie... -
They are not slow in comparison, dead stock trim... However, not a single person will argue, you will put more money and time into one to get the power out of them. Keep in mind, all these 450s were designed as MX bikes. The new Suzuki further proves that with 18 inch rear tires. And what was the #1 MX bike of all time until the 450s came out? Yep, 250R. A bike produced from 86 to 89...that was still the mount of choice until late 2003...that's saying something. The 450R has similar geometry and ergos. NO...NOT the same...but similar. No one will also argue that a stock 450 and stock shee handling isn't even close.... Funny...the shee came out in 87...the 250R in 86...yet their geometry couldn't be further apart on the spectrum. I rib my buddies cause most of 'em ride 4 strokes...but, in all reality, they are fun to ride, make for much better trail bikes than a shee, and lets face it. Less finicky about tuning and more reliable. They're just not great drag bikes...unless you have a lot of coin...and time. A stock KFX is very very good out of the hole (not that hard to just push the gas) but, after that...a piped/jetted shee will walk it no problem. That 700 is Heavy, big time.
-
Very impressive numbers... Someone definately ported those babies for sure... Did they air/fuel meter your jetting for you too?
-
T5s are good pipes, period. Animal...I dyno'd 84.8 HP on T5s and stock carbs on my Cub motor. That's nothing to sneeze at...by any means. Sure, I'm mising out on 10 to 20 horse on top by not going to larger carbs and drag pipes...but, it's still fun to ride. And I haven't even gotten mine running 100% yet...
-
I agree.... Predator = Predaturd... Don't get me wrong, they look nice...good ergos, and are a great trail machine... They are not by any means even a decent drag bike. Friends of ours went to ride in a large, large grass field, and drag raced all day. The Predator there has the usual, cam, pipe, etc....and a 20 shot of Nitrous. My buddy has a 450 with a low compression 480 kit, cam, pipe, cleaned up head, ignition, lightened flywheel and FCR carb...and it flat out smoked that predator on the juice. I'd rather have an 06 450 R with a pipe, filter, cam and jetting for trails....and play dune riding. The 450s are fun, no doubt. But, as said....it takes a whole lotta loot to get 'em in drag race form. Actually....change that. I'd rather have the new Suzuki with a pipe, filter and cherrybomb, and 20" rear tires, too...
-
They've had problems with Wiseco cranks too...badass will attest to that. They key is to have a good builder weld and true it properly before it's installed... Jeff welded the shit out of mine...I'm very confident it'll hold up fine (wiseco crank, by the way... )

That's a good thing. I admire your parents for helping with what you need, NOT what you want. I had the same thing when I was young and started riding. My old man helped me out...but didn't give me any hand me outs.... Little things like that teach responsibility. The first thing you have to do is take your carbs off. That's free. See what the plugs look like. That's free. Jets are very cheap. You should not have to buy any pilot jets, stock work fine unless you really start to mod your motor... Main jets are about 2 to 3 bucks a piece, and...of course you need two. See how the plugs look... If they are rich...get the next 2 to 3 sizes smaller (lower number) main jets. If they are white and it's lean...do the opposite. Of course, I'll refer to my former statement....get that clymers book before you buy anything else...
