Yep...well put. That's funny... I call Jeff from work, and my switchboard phone system always comes up unavailable...so, not like he has caller ID on me. He answers the phone 90% of the time. Instead of making excuses for Jeff...let's just let him explain his side of the story...two sides to every coin... I've talked to guys near and far, here and on other forums...and NONE of them have a bad word to say about him...rather they think he's a helluva nice guy, etc.... "nuff said. Let's hear Jeff's side of this. Keep in mind, it is a holiday weekend, and a big riding weekend...give him a few days to respond because let's face it...many of us are or will be out riding somewhere....
-
It's a whole 'nother story.... But, the nice thing is...I'm buying what I want for it...if it fixes it...great, if it doesn't...so what, i wanted it anyways.... Yeah, seeing it pull the #'s it did on a dyno...and ride it for a very brief period of time before it acted up...it was fun as hell... When you go from 45 HP to 85...it's like a rocket strapped to your a$$!!!

Oh yeah...you can for testing/tuning...but, you don't want to leave it there. If you have to turn it in that much, you need a larger (richer) pilot. And generally, if it's more than 2.5 to 3.0 turns out...you need a smaller (leaner) pilot... If it runs significantly better barely turned out at all, bigger pilot time.
-
Haa...I've barely ran it since I put my cub in. I've run out of time...and it's too damn hot, to fix it. Going with a Dyna and new Stator from RS next week. It's either electrical, or an air leak. Since my CDI box and Stator are both 10years old, and in a little rough shape...I'm going that route first... Then, I'll leak down test it anyways... At least the motor, new carbs and coil w/ hotwires look good sitting in my garage...

For the GNCC in your sig, I'd agree. Not for duners or drag racers... Congrats...by the way...
-
I was contemplating myself going with cascade's 1 into two 38mm setup, I was originally planning on doing a part trail, part dune and part play drag racing bike. My motives are changed...dune and drag race bike only now...so, sticking with duals...

What...are you kidding me. There's about 10 sentences packed in there, NO periods or other punctuation...which makes for very, very difficult reading. I'm not a perfect speller by any means, and I'm sure I don't punctuate the best either. But part of us all being able to help each other is being able to communicate clearly...if you think a very, very poorly mispelled and non-punctuated post is good communication, knock yourself out. If you noticed...after all that, I did give my advice on safe jetting for him. I'm not expecting, nor am I...a Harvard scholar (f**K them little Ivy Leauge bastards...J/K) but c'mon...that could be a little easier to read... ::

Ell...I've been so bored at work...it's killing me. I'm waiting to get that message on the screen like that commercial: You have seen everything there is to see on the Internet, this is the end. Please check back in a month....  Gorilla... You said your plugs were brown and wet...so, normally that means your a bit rich. Your mains just sound a little lean with no airbox and pipes...normally at or around sea level on stock carbs, that's a 300 to 340 main...at your elevation, that translates to 290 to 330 main. But...hey, no way any of us can get you exact...just ballpark close. Just keep an eye on the plugs! -
Christ... I reread that first post 4 times, and my head is spinning.... 260 sounds about right on the main with pipes only and still running the airbox with lid. You may or may not lean the needle one clip with the reeds. Generally...when you just replace the reeds it's fine. A whole new reed cage may or may not require a bump in the needle. goo owt n ryde ur qaad n c how it runz wit dat brass en de carbz

Yep...bump that pilot up. And...with no airbox, I'd bet your lean on your mains, too... Unless you're above 3000Ft...but then, your stock pilots would be fine if that was the case. FMFs are known to like fatter pilots. I'd get 27.5 and 30s to be safe... You should also be running the needle in the middle clip, too... By the way, what is your elevation and temps you ride in? -
Get a clear 3/16 fuel line, heat the end up a little...and it will stretch just fine over the 1/4 inch Pingel valve...
-
No prob...just trying to help a bro out.
-
Sounds like either something is not set quite right in the carb, or...a faulty (albeit brand new) cable... Is there something binding up in your thumb throttle possibly?
-
Sorry to hear bout your luck bro... For the money, it's hard to beat a 4 mil cub. Call Jeff at FAST...his prices are great, and his service is better! I can promise you that it won't be dissapointing...
-
Still looking for a twist throttle? If so...let me know. I think I can find mine in the garage...only two or three rides on it last year, went back to thumb...
-
That's actually contradictory to everything I've read about the 1 into 2 setup. I've read more bottom...not as much top... Strange...

I bought one of these from Jeff @ FAST Racing...and they are invaluable... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-WEBER-SY...sspagenameZWDVW -
If you don't want to risk running that knicked up head, I have a 100% perfect used head off my 96 I will gladly let you steal for 20 bucks, shipped. it's just sitting in my garage, on my tool box. I even scotchbrited the gasket surface...ready to bold on. PM me if you'd like it... I have no use for it and would like to see it go to use for someone in need...
-
If the fit is that tight...I normally heat the end of the line up with a lighter for a few seconds.. ***Disclaimer....do this away from the fuel tank, gas off...etc., In other words, use your head..*** Sorry...don't want someone to tell me they blew their shee up and/or ended up in the hospital... I was using automotive 1/4 hose...but it's thick as hell, doens't like to bend much... I was at Home Depot, picked up some clear yellow lawnmower fuel line for about 3 bucks. Very flexible, and I LOVE clear fuel line...
-
Have you tried turning your air screws in at all? Like, .25 to .5 out from seated? FMFs do like a fatter pilot...but if you ask FMF they say 32.5...sorry...no way Jose... I'd bet if you put that 30 in, turned out the screw 1.0 turns out...it'll be better...

Plug Chop Pics and PJ34mm Carb Jetting Question
dajogejr replied to jbooker82's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I don't think they have a resistor...I'm 100% certain though the wires have a capacitor in them. They are very fat at one spot, near the spark plug lead...and they have their own ground strap... Not to mention, aside from custom fit and function....they look bad ass!! -
You've got the banshee sickness... First it'll be porting, then top end pipes...etc. I understand...that being said, save your money on pipes for now... The simple bolt on stuff will be fine. If you can afford to, build a package instead of piece mailing it... A good builder can port into the pipes you bought.. In other words, you buy a CPI or Shearer pipe beforehand...and they can port your jugs to work best with that style pipe....

That's good info...Brad. However...I'm stuck and stubborn in my ways, just as many of us are...I'll keep using what I've been using for years now, that has never given me a lubrication related failure... Funny you mention that... For years (almost 9) I worked for an auto-repair facility... The first 4 years were spent in the auto centers, from good ol oil changer, to service advisor...to manager. Then, I started working at the corporate office in their IS department. Now...I've been to my fair share for Mobil conventions...they were our partner, along with Goodyear, Napa...etc. All big players. Anyways... When Valvoline first came out with the "Synthetic Blend" motor oil, Mobil dissed them, saying it's like walking down a road. On one side is conventional, the other is sythetic....semi-synthetic is walking down the middle of the road. Low and behold, a few years later....Mobil comes out with their own semi-synthetic. I guess it just took a few years for their marketing department to catch up. So...I happened to be at a meeting out of state, (setting up a laptop and power point/projector show) and I told the Mobil "Preacher" just that. How is it that just a few years ago, you folks strongly said that semi was a waste of time. It is missing all the key benefits of full synthetics, etc., etc.... He stammered for a few...then started out a statement like "our marketing research...." and that's all I had to hear.... They saw an opportuninty to make a few more bucks...and they took it. It was quite funny, Brad...you probably would've been more so entertained....

Plug Chop Pics and PJ34mm Carb Jetting Question

Try using imageshack.com CD... 1.6mm...2.0 mm...we're splitting hairs at that point. How's that cub running...cd? -
Really...since you didn't mention running it in your banshee...I'm curious as to why not?
