  1. Don't forget some props to that Ellison dude... (Him and I have a silent competition who can answer more jetting questions on any given day...sad we're both that bored at work/home sometimes... ) Yeah, I've gotten 90% of my stuff from Jeff...he's like my drug dealer, I swear. I told him yesterday (bought my dyna ignition) to just keep my credit card on file...to save time. Glad to hear you going in the right direction...have fun.
  2. Shouldn't talk about his girl like that.... :yelrotflmao:
  3. Avitar looks like him at a gay pride parade, circle jerk...
  4. Dude...I gotta unplug. I got too many threads I'm subscribed to here.... I thought you had stock carbs...that's why I was like WTF....??? So sorry man. If I would've taken the time to re-read your first post, I could've told you that, it's the same on my carbs. Sorry if I came out of left field on that one...
  5. Do a search on TORS here....it'll be easier than a large write up at this point...
  6. Yep....should always check compression...no matter what.
  7. Real screen name should be: MudPlunger69
  8. Well...to be honest, I just kinda use my ear for it. Not too low to where it's stumbling...but not too high either. I have no idea what black plastic screw thing you're talking about...unless you're referring to the choke knob...
  9. Wants to be the first rider on his quad to do a backflip into a vat of chrome....since his quad is bling free. :baseball_w00t:
  10. Man...I still smell electrical....ya know? Make sure a rodent/insect/etc. didn't crawl into your airbox or exhaust or something stupid like that...will ya. If it did...send a picture....
  11. Can't spell Liquid. Can't spell Boost Bottle (in sig) Didn't realize 5 keys down from the @ is the & for K & N Can't spell silencers Can't spell billet Has never heard of spell check... (Sorry...Liquedfire...all in good fun)
  12. Yeah, I read that too fast. I thought it said he already replaced the plugs. That would be the very first thing....sorry...
  13. 27.5 is the next step up. The air screw does have to do with the idle. You set it by getting the highest idle you can out of it...the, you adjust the idle on the TORS to be around 1500 to 1800. Of course...if it doesn't idle at all, that's a problem. Plug choice is perfectly fine. Clean the spark plug end caps real good, too...
  14. Turn it out or in until you get the highest idle possible. Make sure you allow 20 to 30 seconds after you adjust it for the new setting to take effect... If you wind up .5 to 2.5 out...you're good to go. Then, adjust the idle to where you want it. I think it should be around 1500 to 1800 RPM.
  15. Then you have one or two problems. An air leak, or too lean on the pilot circuit. Get the next two sizes up for your pilots. Start with 1.0 turns out, go from there...
  16. Throw some fatter pilots in there to humor us...FMFs like fat pilots. Maybe he's starving it for gas...ELL? What about the carb bowls, you didn't switch them, did you? Also...the little tube between the carbs is in place and good shape, right?
  17. True...is this tach designed to work on a CDI style ignition for a two stroke? I agree...unless you're bracket racing and for money, I'd do away with the tach...shift when the power runs off, or just a fraction before it does....
  18. Tough call... You've done your homework, that's for sure. I agree...normally crank or rod bearing will get louder...and they won't be loud very long, just a bang and dead stop. Question...does it go away if you pull your clutch lever in? Maybe something is loose in the actuator arm, which...is by the left side of the motor. Since you took it apart and it looked good...this is a tough one. I really hate to say it, but...it might be time for a tear down and measurement on everything. Or...you could just ride it that way, wait till it (If it does) gernades...and rebuild it from the ground up. That's the non-preferred expensive way, however... On a side note, once you get this sorted...set the plate back to 0 and use the third setting on the Dyna...and get some 110 octane to be safe if you can. My Dyna gets here Friday, I can't wait to hook it up to my laptop to mess with the curves!! Sorry i'm not much help on this one...hope you get it figured out.
  19. Start with the air screws first. IF it runs worse off idle when you half choke it, turn them each out 3. still not running good enough, then change the pilots. Once it gets better...you can bump the needle if you feel necessary... Remember, pilot jet/air screw account for idle to 1/8 throttle...then the needle starts to kick in.
  20. If you don't know what your compression is...you don't know if you need to run race gas or not. Every motor is different. Once you start to get into the 150 plus PSI range...a mix of race/pump may or may not be needed. However, add 7 degrees of timing, and it is. 155 to 165 with 7 degrees...and you're gonna need more octane yet. I would say for safety's sake, test the compression. Don't take someone's word for it on the 93 pump gas on the .020 head....test it. I'd say with .020 to .030 off, plus all that timing, I'd be surprised if you didn't need at least a 50/50 mix or so. Check the compression, better safe than sorry....
  21. Compression has less to do with race gas need than timing, or at least when you're talking 4 to 7 degrees more of it. Get a compression reading, and...what elevation are you at as well?
  22. Neverdull....works wonders. I've heard Shearers come in standard and show chrome. The standard isn't the best chrome out... Just keep 'em clean and dry...and WD40 works well, too!!
  23. Pull the choke out. If it gets real, real bad...you're too rich on the pilot circuit...and possibly the needle too. Sounds like you are rich. Start by turning the air screws out 3 turns from the lightly seated position. You don't want to leave them like that...but, if it starts getting better, buy some leaner (smaller) pilot jets, and turn the screw back to 1 turn out. If it cleans up with only 2 turns out on the air screws...leave it there.
  24. Just do a search. Like pipe/tire/jetting questions, it's been covered a thousand times over, as well as what kind of premix to run....
  25. What mods do you have? What kind of gas are you running? Elevation? Temps? Pulling the head off is a great start, but you might be at the point of pulling off the jugs to check piston clearance, ring end gap, rod bearing play.... Stupid question....but is the Oring on the exaust pipe sealed? Any cracks near the spring mounts? Any leaking by where the stinger tube meets the pipe? Just some shots in the dark....
