Best place to get 68mm Cheeta Cubs, and Ported
dajogejr replied to AustinONeal's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Not to knock Jim or K&T...they're both very reputable...and I've PM'd Jim a few times on other stuff. Very nice guy, very knowledgable. But... I priced out my complete setup from Jeff. Instead of just sending me parts and having me on my way, we went over EVERYTHING...and I mean all of it. From spark plug to drain plug, clutch to flywheel. It was litterally an hour long phone call (Jeff does like to jabber a bit, which...is fine with me.. ) He made sure I had the "cub kit" which is a base gasket and stud extenders, which you'll need. Bought my crank which he recommended a heavier duty bearing for...as well as him re-welding it for me. (Anyone on here will tell you the factory welds from Wiseco are junk...including you, right JT? ) I know he's out on a riding trip this week and out of the shop, though. Call 'em all. Jeff, Jim @ Passion, K&T, redline, A&S, Grand River Racing....they're all reputable builders and good for the sport. Go with who you feel gives you the best customer service and pricing. Jeff is always my first call...period. -
You did the correct thing by posting this in the Jetting/Exhaust forum, before others add on to this thread, too... http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64175

Sorry...I"m going to be a total smart ass for just a minute. Try calling an auto parts store, asking for a price on brake pads, and when they ask what kind of vehicle...just tell them... "I don't know...I just bought it from Ford"... Ok, end of rant. Seriously. There's some numbers on the carb somewhere. Vitos normally deals with PJ and PWK series Keihin carbs...but that's normally stamped right on the side of it. Try taking and posting a picture, or numbers, or something. Even if you take a picture of the jets...someone could probably help by looking at them. But, we're flying 100% bind as of right now.... You do know that pilots only effect the idle to 1/8 throttle...the majority of your riding is probably more throttle than that, which is your needle and main jet, not pilots. Also, with a milled head, check your compression. You may or may not need race gas/pump gas mix. You said sea level...so that's about as high of compression as you'd see.

Bah... Just tell them you want a dune port job, it'll be fine... Seriously... You want more low end out of a jetski, to get you going. Since there's no gearing per say, like a quad with a tranny. I would honestly just tell them you want a basic port to increase power everywhere. I'd bet you'd be fine. Jetski/Boat shops are just as busy right now, if not busier...and I'd bet they're pricier than ATV shops in general...(anything at any marina is more money....even a foam cooler is more money...lol )

two stroke is a two stroke...I'd bet just about any reputable builder could do that for you.

Good to know, Steve... I'll see how it works out on my 4 mil. I'm going to run some drags this weekend...and in the next few weeks hit the dyno. We'll see what happens.
-
First off, what are you running your premix ratio at? Second, time for a compression and a leakdown test. Compression to see if it needs a top end freshen up, leak down to see if there's an air leak/seal gone bad.
-
To be honest, I'm just getting mine together and running right...I'm not in any hurry to tear it back down again. If I can, I'll send pics. But red hit it on the head. It just opens it up a bit...

The circumference of the tire, measured by wrapping a tape measure around the outside. Taller, skinnier tires are better for drag racing, smaller, flatter are better for all around duning.
-
Yep...you got it. You can pick up a micro-screw driver set fairly cheap...less than 10 bucks I'd say...

I don't know about a mod to the reed itself. The insert or "stuffer" pops right out. Instead of a small, circular hole on the carb side, it is a large square. I wish I would've wrote down the dimensions when I had it all apart. I put the new intakes, reeds and carbs on all at once....

To say I'm like a little kid, knowing Christmas is around the corner...would be an understatment. My buddy is coming out, too...and I'm gonna ask him to video it. The cool thing is, the place we're going is pretty cheap, like 15 or 20 bucks...and you can run all day. So, I'm hoping to get at least 30 runs in or so to get it tuned in. My builder is putting dial a jets on it...just met him for lunch today. Should be a whole lotta fun... I'll post up a vid or two when I get back, for sure!!

Sunday will be my first day out on a 300ft sand drag. I'm gonna have to toy with air pressure and gearing for sure... I got such a good deal on the swinger and tires, I simply could not pass them up. I planned on running T5 pipes and stock carbs. Now...I've got 35PWKs and I'll have RDZ pipes by the end of this week...so, it's gonna be fun. I think it's gonna throw my 245 lb ass back fairly easily....

Shit...for the 12 bucks it cost to replace that cable, I'd replace it anyways, unless it was near new...
-
What a world we live in. The tree hugger capital of the US doesn't require or enforce them...and over here, they're a must. Go figure. Oh well...it is what it is...I just wanna ride. So be it...

I don't know if 8 paddle would be enough for that cub motor... It's tough...with paddles you have rollout, blades, gearing, swinger...all a testing and tuning package...

Aside from the fact a single forest fire has never been attributed to an ATV/motorcycle....they require them for SAND DUNES...Silver Lake requires them. Now...there are some slight, small wooded areas...but, c'mon. It drives me nuts. People get around it by loading their quad in the back of the truck and bringing both into the dunes...but, the DNR will probably crack down on that soon, too... It's money for them, afterall.

Damn good info, Ben. Just what I've come to expect from you... Thanks much from all of us!

Been down that route...my friend. Everything new here, too..but, I bought a dyna instead of a stock CDI. I have my motor at my builder's right now...crank seal is bad, and I don't have the time to do it myself. Plus...I think I'm gonna get some more "goodies"...too. Good luck, Brian...

I'll do a quick write up on it. You drill two holes. One in the float bowl, one in the carb bell. A fitting goes in each. A fuel line runs from the bowl to the bell. You have a clicky knob to adjust the additional fuel spray it provides, drawing fuel from the bowl. For Alky...it works even better... But, it'd be wise to have a pingel valve and a fuel pump of some sort... I THINK, and I'm not 100% positive, it has adjustment to compensate for up to 10 main jet sizes. This does not effect the pilot or idle circuit, just the mains. Here's some more reading... http://www.thunderproducts.com/dial_a_jet.htm

Sorry.... I don't have pics or a part number. I went to Magic with the measurement (don't remember that...either...) and they set me up. I'm pretty sure that they cost me 69 bucks a piece...

You don't have to grind anything. The inserts pop right out, the new ones right in.

now this is funny shit. My buddy rides a 450R. (well, once he gets done, it'll be a 565R)...anyways...I'll sit there and text message him from work: 4 stroke slow poke joke Big Gay 4 Stroker Go Slow, Live Long, Ride a 4 stroke... Everything 2 stroke has got some funny ass shit. Chase, I'm gonna hit you up for some 4 stroke bashing stickers...just to bust my buddies balls... (I'll wait till he falls asleep and plaster some on his truck and quad...and post pictures...) Good shit here guys...

Most of the guys serious about Alky run a dial a jet system. There's is simply nothing better than a click or two to get dialed in for a day or riding, rather than sitting back at the truck taking off bowls/bowl plugs. For 100 bucks, I'm seriously thinking of getting a dial a jet for my PWKs. Think about it...if you changed your main jets on each carb 3 times, that damn thing would pay for itself right there, IMO...
