  1. The best dunes are probably in Glamis... However, that's California. I simply can't imagine the drive there from Michigan, let alone Nova Scotia? Yikes. Maybe some of the southern boys can help out here... Anything in KS, Missouri...or other states that has dunes open in Feb. Silver Lake in MI is a blast, but...you'd probably need snow tires for those babies in Feb., if they were even open. Chase...is there dunes in/near Florida for our neighbors to the north? Honestly Swag, you're talking southern US for any decent riding in Feb... And, you're shees will be just fine for dunes. Depending on where you go, you'll see bone stockers with knobby tires on 'em, all the way to 100 +HP fire breathing monsters all stretched out running exotic fuels...and everything in between. If you have the means to ship the quads and fly yourself, Glamis is the once in a lifetime trip for most. however...I can't see you spending a few weeks JUST DRIVING there and back...
  2. Damned good reason! Was just curious...wondering if there was something special about Toomey's cable...that's all!!
  3. I second that...I should be near 200HP on that dyno...
  4. Not saying you got a cheapo one, but...I've seen a few of 'em and I agree, they are junk. I have an el cheapo...and it's junk. However...the nicer (read...more $$) on the fly adjusters are nice to have. Then again, if you're gonna trail ride, you really don't need it.
  5. Just out of curiousity alone, Dinner....how come you opted for a Toomey cable instead of a motion pro or terrycable?
  6. Not even close.... You must be pricing a Hinson 9 disk setup. You can buy a new clutch fibers, steels and springs for less than a hundo. A clutch basket for 150. Inner and outer for like 60. Lockup for 100, plus the side case, varies from 200 to 250.... Around 6 bills for it all, lockup style. If you just went and replaced your basket (non-Hinson) plates, fibers and springs, it'd be 2 1/2 bills about.... I'm still puzzled why someone would spend 800 on a 9 plate Hinson when a lockup is cheaper, and will work better period.
  7. Mine didn't like a 15/42 and I had 20" holeshots, pipes, pods, lightened flywheel and timing plate. Then again, my motor was a bit on the worn side, about 110PS in each cylinder...but I know my jetting was spot on!!
  8. And a motocross style clutch perch, EZ pull lever and on the fly adjuster.... Really nothing to it! Hell, I just got rid of my headlight switch and Engine kill. One toggle switch does it all now...(no lights, of course)...
  9. I think what he's trying to say is...does the lockup replace the pressure plate (I wasn't sure) and...what are all the complete items to buy for a clutch. I agree...it's easier to read, comprehend and understand with some punctuation there, bud. Basket, Fibers and Steels, Springs (Get HD springs if you're not going to run a lockup, Non-HD if you are going to run a lockup) innter and outer hub and the lockup plate. Again...not sure if you need the inner hub..or, pressure plate. But, as we've discussed, you do need a modded side cover for clearance should you go lockup.
  10. Sell your boost bottle to make up the difference... :baseball_bat: J/K...
  11. Oh yeah...for a stroker motor, which I'm sure is ported and big carbs, etc., that gearing is fine, especially with 18 inch tires for the road... But this guys bike is stock except for pipes and a K&N, and...I don't see it mentioned what size tires he has, either...
  12. I PM'd Lee about it...and he didn't answer back, but...it's working again now...so I"m assuming it's fixed..
  13. If you get a lockup you're not gonna have to worry bout it...
  14. I would leave the toomey needle in, and change clip positions. Also...for the hell of it, swap tires, it's only 16 lug nuts to loosen and tighten. See if the story changes... Are you both of same weight and skill??
  15. Make sure you are torquing them down in sequence. I'd go 10, then 15, then 20lbs to get a good, even torque. Heat cycle it twice (start it up, warm it up, shut it down and let it cool all the way) retorque. Go for a quick ride for a few minutes, retorque 'em again and you'll be good to go...
  16. 2r is fine, and a lot of people run it. If you're concerned about the smoking, though...try another synthetic oil. At least you know shee's gettin the oil...just make sure it's not too much to where it's fouling plugs, etc.
  17. What kind of oil and at what mixture are you running at?
  18. Is anyone else not getting email notifications upon new posts on subscribed threads? I've checked and double checked my settings....
  19. Yep...if you have an extra 700 or 800 hundo or so after the purchase, get it new. But, you're gonna want a K&N and some pipes right off the bat. You'll be in heaven after that...
  20. It should be pretty darned close. It'd be wise to see what the jetting is at now, but...I'd say you probably will go up a size on the main, maybe tune the air screw a little...but, it should be close enough to run and look at the plugs to see where you need to go. I'd say the T5's breath a bit better, so, maybe 1 or 2 up on the main.
  21. Stock gearing, get steel sprockets, they last longer...and get a DID or RK X Ring chain. Call Jeff @ Fast, he sells chain by the foot... If you have the extra money, get a set of sprockets and chain from Sidewinder. Yes, they're pricey, but they're nearly twice as strong as the next best chain...
  22. Hmm... Hey, sprockets are cheap, I guess give 'em a shot. I'm hoping in MX you're gonna have a tire that is sticky and hooks for your given track, holeshots or some Razr or something similar... And...I agree, the banshee is FAR from an ideal MX machine. Any of the 450 Crop will blow circles around it...unless it's got LONG straigtaways and a alot of 'em...
  23. Should be ok with +4...but listen to your engine. If it starts running like pooh, or...it sounds likes steel bearings are shaking around inside your motor, back it off or run a little bit of race gas, say 25%. You should be ok...
  24. 19 bucks a month, State Farm, full coverage. I specifically said "hey...it'd cost me 6K plus to do another one up like this, am I covered?"... Keep your receipts....
  25. As does magic racing. They're called sparky's, and they're made by Cobra... You lucky dogs that don't have to run 'em. I can see riding trails...maybe. But, we even gotta run 'em in the dunes, they're retarded...I agree...but, it's that or no riding. Measure the OD of the largest lip on your stingers, and any one of the above mentioned companies can get 'em for you. They look very similar to this, but they clamp "over" the silencer end. http://www.rockymountainatv.com/productDet...46&navType=type
