  1. Glad you asked...cause you're way off base in your assumptions. I only started talking to Tom a month or so ago...never knew him from Adam before then. I've heard his name from the old Rocket pipe faithfuls here. Tom said he's going to make me a pipe that will outperform my current pipe, Shearer...and it might take him a few tries. He's a few hours away in MI, which makes him accessible... The site staff made the call to delete the thread because of it's language towards profit and selling. It was not my call 100%...rather a group choice. So yes, you are speaking out of context. That post was laced with "Here's a new product I'll be offering soon in these configurations". There were no prices....granted. If it would've ONLY been here's some work I've been doing...it would still be there. Again, a group decision was made it was geared toward selling pipes. Why don't you go back and actually read everything I've wrote about the Snyper pipes.... I am all 100% for them. I've credited Jim for being a very smart builder. I've praised his decision, his methods and his ideas. And if the R2 pipes don't make my bike faster/perform better I could very well be trying a set of them. I race, at the end of the day...ET and performance is where it's at. Anyone in this game can appreciate it. Now...to Cam. Regardless is you have 10,000 deals or 10...when you lie and misrepresent you lie....any way you coat it it's just that... If you sold someone a set of tires that were worn out and you told them they were worn out...only to have them get the tires and find out not only are they worn out but they don't hold air.....is your response going to be well, I sold them dirt cheap and told you they were worn out.... If you call getting what you paid for and getting what was explained pissing and moaning, then yes...I guess he was. Shame on him for wanting what he was promised. Lectron advise? You're right...you helped me, and I thanked you very much. And no...you're not going to get banned on atvdr for this. What happens over here stays over here. We're not as wide open as HQ...never have been. That's just our style over there. Some like it, some don't ...but no matter what you do you will never please everyone. We're not anti Planet Sand, we're pro racer...and pro members and pro advertisers. I will agree with you there is not as much advanced and technical knowledge here. No one that visits all the sites we do can dispute that. I've been doing this for years...but in the forums I got my feet wet here and always consider this place a home. Unless you ask me where to hide a bong in your banshee or what color of powerband you should buy...I'd like to think I help out as best I can too. I might be a little direct and I really don't sugar coat things, but that's me...and so be it. Just because there isn't as much technical advise or dare I say more advanced motor specs, etc...on HQ, doesn't give you the right to say 90% of the members here can't adjust their own chain. That's an insult, period...any way you want to sugar coat or slice it. You claim to have all this advanced knowledge yet when some of the leading minds in this industry tell you your wrong you don't listen. (Detonation thread on PS...) At the end of the day, you can try to spin this anyway you want to make yourself look like a good guy. You can have all the buddies you want rush here to back you up and pat you on the back... But you still spit in the face of members here, and I promise you forums and their members have a very long memory...and this thread will have a TON of views and hits on it just to further prove my point. Mark my words... Thread was started less than a week ago and already has 1,400 plus views....
  2. So.. You came to bash Banshee HQ on ATVDR by stating how stupid the members are...basically. You bash PS on here because of how they moderate threads. You bash ATVDR on here because we in fact deleted a thread that was gearing up to sell a product....without paying an advertising fee...which you say you understand, then posted a new thread for pipe discussion saying you understand that the thread should've been deleted for advertising...and in the VERY NEXT POST you post an ad with prices and availability for a non-site sponsor. Any other sites you want to bash while you're here? Maybe you should start your own site, see what it takes to maintain, run and try keep as many people happy as you can...then you can actually talk about how sites should be run, paid for and what they should and shouldn't allow. Until then, you've pissed on three sites and it's members by my count...but then again I guess people that can't tighten their own chain can't figure that out either, right? That's aside from the fact you personally screwed one of my good friends over on a motor...you knew it, fessed up to it and agreed to make it right and NEVER did. That's first hand knowledge on my part by the way, not even second or third hand....pistons you were supposed to send and never did for a Cheetah motor ring a bell? People asked you for your reasoning for being such a douche to HQ's members...and you try to post this shit above like everything is hunkey dorey? Your world must be the best one to be in because of how fucked up your logic and reasoning is... And no Meat he didn't really get banned...I gave him that title, but had a change of heart and didn't follow through. I told him via PM he had a three day cooling off period, in which he was still able to post and PM. And I can prove that as well.
  3. I think it's trail friendly.....
  4. I hold MACs in the same regards as fat chicks and four strokes... They're cool to play around on, as long as someone you know doesn't see you on it. ROFL...
  5. I do remember them. And yes...they ran very, very well. The Havoc crew always has nice looking and good running bikes. I'd vouch for these in a heartbeat.
  6. That dude has boulders, not stones...they weighed him down...lol. No wheelie bar needed when you're running off the push of thrust, there's no power going to the rear wheel that I can see. HOLY SHIT that is moving...
  7. With a name like Michael Jackson, you know he's the "Reaming" King... (Sorry...I just had to.)
  8. This is a great conversation right here....going way beyond "head" talk. I gotta get on the road in a little bit for work, but I'll try to clarify some of this later today if someone doesn't beat me to it first....although I understand it's workings in my head and in practice, I want to be careful how I word it so it's accurate yet understandable... From the outside looking in, it might look like sloryder and I are bantering a bit. Quite the contrary....putting this stuff in the open and discussing it is the best way to learn and think....
  9. Ditto... Whenever possible, always ask your porter/builder where they like to start on jetting. They know better than anyone where their motor's like fuel. Kevin is on every day and is pretty quick to answer PMs. He starts off most days with his foo-foo soy cream non fat half and half latte...and is on the boards pretty early...even by East Coast standards.
  10. Hit up Jeff @ FAST. He carries chain by the bulk and can cut it to whatever you want. I'm going on my 4th year on my chain for my drag bike...zero issues (other than losing a master link in my tool box now and then...lol.) He carries a few different kinds, and truly runs what he carries. He'll save you money...and he's a pretty OK guy to boot!!
  11. Several factors influence UCCR...most people don't take the time to measure things up. Just the first calculator I found. http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html I've seen plenty of people run stock heads on all out drag cub motors and stock cylinder. Before there were cool heads and aftermarket heads available, you had someone cut, rechamber and Oring a stocker...it's all you had. I had a cut stocker on my 10 mil, I like the chariot better. I've seen some of Mull's work and Brandon and I pass ideas back and forth from time to time...I'm certain he does fine work.
  12. That's an on the border call. A few things I see wrong with that. You could have a bike with 160 PSI because of a high exhaust port but the UCCR could be 14 or 15:1 depending on the cut of the head. Pump gas won't last long in that motor... Regardless of the cranking compression...which as you said will vary based on port timing, fuel is rated for compression ratio. And...not to mention, if I had a drag port cylinder the last thing I'd do is run pump gas...
  13. Guys... Compression ratio, not cranking compression dictate the need for race fuel or higher octane fuels.... And I've cc'd stock heads anywhere from 22 to 24ccs...no BS.
  14. I agree. The combustion needs to happen at a certain temperature to be efficient. Any more or less is losing power and/or reliability...
  15. Got some great prices on here, obviously as you know Pics will help...but this stuff should move. Try going to imageshack.com and uploading pictures there as well. Free, no sign up...and you copy/paste the forum code link.
  16. There's just a little bit more to it than that.... It think what he is trying to say is the exhaust port is the hottest part on the engine...and a cool engine makes more power. Thus...cooling the exhaust port will make more power. As far as the exhaust, on a two stroke...that's a different story. Some of the burnt/unburnt fuel actually re-enters the combustion chamber and is processed again. Along those lines is where heat in the exhaust makes more power....but of course there is a ceiling. That's why some people tune with EGTs. But they have to have a baseline first. There is no such thing as this temp is the proper temp to run a motor...much more to it than that.
  17. There are only two reasons I would buy a 7 mil setup vs. a 10 mil setup. 1. Price...you found the steal of a lifetime or 2. To compete in a certain cc class where 7 is under or at the limit and 10 would be above. We're only talking about 22ccs of displacement (I'm pretty sure a 7 mil, 68 bore cub is 443cc vs 465 for a 10 mil) Go 10. The price on everything is identical, as well as the machine work for the cases. No one is going to charge you extra for having to dig an extra 1.5mm or so on the case. 4 is a great little motor, but especially if you're a big guy, a 10 gets up out of the hole a little easier, is more forgiving than a 4 and it has more legs upstairs. Does this help?
  18. If you ride motorcross and HP isn't as important as suspension/handling, they're ok. That being said, we took one off my buddies banshee and it felt like it gained 15 HP, no joke. And yes it was setup and adjusted properly... Too much drag on the drivetrain in my opinion...
  19. Keeping heat in the pipe vs. keeping heat in the cylinder are TOTALLY different...
  20. I think you'll find out once you get to a certain type of build, pipes are...or should be made for a certain motor, and they're sold with the motor or sold as being built for a motor. These guys are doing the right thing...stamping 3 different versions of the pipe to try and cover a broader spectrum, but...if I'm reading it correctly...they will still customize a set for your particular build, use and needs. I've talked to Matt Shearer a few times. People get all worked up on his coned pipes. He himself will tell you his stamped pipe is the way to go because a hand coned pipe for a particular setup is hit or miss. Could be better...more often than not worse than his stamped. Now...with time and money could he build you a pipe to suite your specific motor? Sure...just as SRP could. But the money is in a stamped setup for consistency that covers a bigger array of motor and motor types. I'm going to work with Tom Borrink on a pipe design for my bike...and I'm very excited about it. I've chosen Tom for two reasons...I want to give him a chance to build a pipe for a known motor and give him a chance to improve on what I have...and...he's a local MI guy, so no shipping of this, waiting, etc. In the past, you simply threw a pipe on your bike and dealt with what you had. With the addition of both R2 pipes and Sniper pipes...the ideas and competition will do nothing but make us faster and better prepared as well as give us options that were limited before to basically two pipes, Shearer and CPI. I know there are a couple of other vendors out there, RDZ, White Knuckle, etc...but if you looked out there, you'd see Shearer and CPI dominating the markets. RDZ in in that hunt as well. These are good times and good ideas coming...let's hope all involved follow through to the end and this type of discussion or build just doesn't fizzle out!
  21. If it is in fact the same company...they've got more than a leg to stand on, they've got both feet on the ground and running. Gonna have to keep an eye on this development even more now.
  22. Tyler...do you know if these guys build pipes for snomobiles? If so, and if it's the same SRP...they've been in the biz for quite some time. I never put Sniper or Snyper together with SRP....
  23. That's great news for HQ Tyler... Hopefully SRP sees the light with Jim's help and gets the exposure they deserve via the dedicated forums....
  24. We don't view ATVDragracers as a competitors site...rather a sister site to HQ. We've been very proud to work together since day one for a common goal, our members. That being said... Imagine someone standing at the gates of your work on your property selling an item out of their van. Never mind the fact you pay rent on that land and the building, someone is just going to come in and squat on your property and pedal their goods. You, as the business owner...are you just going to let them sit there and do that...or do you tell them to rent their own land and building to sell their product. This product could be ground breaking, solid, world changing, shattering, etc. That doesn't matter...the quality or idea of the product is not in question. The manner in which it's being delivered is... Times are tough and money is tight everywhere. Sites such as this and ATVDR MAINLY exist based on sponsorship money/advertising money and in a much smaller part due to member generosity via donations/paid subscriptions, etc. Notice BHQ and ATVDR are 100% free to use for it's members. The site and it's costs get paid somehow...that somehow is sponsors and donating members. Ask Tyler how much it costs to run and maintain this site...I can promise you you're not going to see him on an episode of Cribs getting rich off HQ...he does this because he loves it. I'm sorry if you disagree with that...it's certainly your opinion and you're entitled to it. But site rules are site rules. How Tyler runs his site when it comes to free advertising is 100% up to him and his staff. We are smaller, newer and don't have the member base or capital that HQ does yet...so our belts our tighter. If you don't agree...at least try to understand. Dave
