Matt Shearer will tell you he built the big bore for the 535 cheetah and bigger. I've had bigs on my 10 mil cub (465 cc) and they've done well. My builder, HJR, would prefer small bore. As said...there is no clear cut answer, it's all in the application you're using them for and your builder's specs and setup.

CP Industries (makers of cubs, cheetahs, etc.) has a new cylinder coming out geared more towards trail and dune riders wanting a more tame power band and the ability to run smaller carbs and trail type pipes. alcoholbanshee has his twister running pretty well...it is a 100% different animal than a cub or cheetah. I've read a couple places that the Vitos cylinders are having issues with the nikasil coating being too thin and it's flaking... Quality control issues on a new design I'm sure they'll get handled. The plating on mine lasted 3 years plus...through a smoked piston and a locked crank. Unless you have major carnage, the plating will be fine. If you do have a major uh oh, plated or cast iron, it's going to be a problem. For the 68 bore, you can get off the shelf blaster big bore pistons... One of the biggest mistakes in this sport was giving Trinity full rights to sell the Cheetah pistons, or those cylinders would be more popular and affordable. Bigger intakes and power valves...great ticket.

Good luck... I called and emailed Lectron over a year ago...never got a response. Andy, if I'm not mistaken they're made in Michigan...in or around the City of Troy. Any chance you can find out??

DRAG RACE@WAYNE COUNTY FAIR MICHIGAN 8/4
dajogejr replied to joee20002's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Hmm...hour or so away for me, might try to make this depending on how it runs this weekend at WMSD. How long is the race, 300, 500, 660? All I have are paddles and picked/ice tires. -
DRAG RACE@WAYNE COUNTY FAIR MICHIGAN 8/4

Joe, Is this pavement, dirt, etc? What is allowed there (Gas, methanol, etc.) picked tires, paddle tires, etc? Since there's a burnout competition I"m assuming this is a pavement track, no? -
I wonder if you could take a worn stock slide and have it nikasil coated? It would last pretty much forever then...

Bone stock banshee compression PSI?
dajogejr replied to miami350's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Proper procedure for any compression tester is hold the throttle WOT to allow maximum air flow into the cylinder. Always has been, always will be. Why would you leave a spark plug in?..to make it harder to kick over? 100 PSI and 115 PSI is too much variance, as long as you were properly doing the test with a reputable tester (not an auto parts 10 dollar cheapy gauge) 10% or 10PSI difference has always been the rule of thumb I operate by... You normally get 85% of your PSI with the first few kicks, but sometimes you have to kick it 10 to 15 more times to get the rest. Simply put...keep kicking until you're sure the gauge does not move any more. -
I honestly don't know where the are coming from...formatting thing I guess. I've run Lectrons on gas, small motors, single cylinders, etc. My bike is actually the first set I've used on an alky drag setup. I've had old 125cc dirt bikes have great off idle response on motors that normally you have to wind the piss out of to go anywhere. Suit yourself, In my experience opinion, I think you're over complicating things. In the end, I know what works for me...and you know what works for you.

I honestly don't know what kind of setup you're trying to explain there AK...and it's none like any I've ever seen for any type of carb or intake system.

Talk to Dennis Packard or Fast By Gast. Get the right needles. They should also tell you how to properly measure the needles from the bottom of the slides as well as what measurement to start at. You'll need a set of digital calipers.

Any Lecton can have the idle screw tapped on either side...but obviously you only need one per.
There is no air screw on a lectron...I don't know what that means.
It used the needle, or metering rod, for mixture instead of an air screw and/or pilot jet. The length and taper of the metering rod designates how much fuel/air the motor is receiving. I think you're trying to over engineer something very simple...

Lectron recommends one power jet for a two stroke engine. I have a dual feed power jet in my lectrons but I run alky as well.
For a smaller gas motor, a single power jet, single feed is sufficient.

As far as the needle and seat, if you look on it, it will either say nothing or 3.3. If it says 3.3 you have fuel pump needle and seat (the needle is smaller as is the hole in the seat than a gravity setup)

Also, you the float pins are different for gravity and fuel pump. For Fuel pump the float pin rests on the float arm away from the needle and seat.
For gravity, it rests towards the needle and seat.

Hope this makes sense and helps ya..

As far as going to alky...make sure your motor is setup properly for it (timing, compression, fuel supply, etc.)
There's more to it than having a carb setup for alky!

I will get a picture of mine when I get home later...if I remember. Don't waste your time on a dual feed PJ for now, learn how the carb works and tune it on gas first. You'll love 'em.
Time to get this party started. Lots of things to do for the racer, the family...and spectators. Please join if you can. July 23rd and 24th.

He had a kidney replacement, and it was done earlier this year. He's been back to work...
-
Wish I could make this one, but I'll be there the following week for the Pro Truck Nationals to race. I can't believe it'll be the end of July before I make a pass on my bike this year. Just shows you what happens when you get old.... I know a lot of guys think you have to have a top fuel, alky burning big motor bike to go to the drag strip. That's just not the case. Guys on stock banshees have as much or more fun (less working on them...lol) than the alky dragsters. No one just jumped on a 3 second bike and called it a day, you work your way up (or down, in ET terms). If you're in the area...go have some fun. The fact that WMSD is 5 minutes from Silver Lake Dunes also gives you a lot of options.... Good luck...be safe!!
-
Not really...it would be 2mm plus the actual squish...LOL. Do yourself a favor...measure deck height. That's how far the piston sticks out of the bore at the edges. It is quite possible there is a mixup and you got the wrong parts. It happens.

I think Fedor is more known than you think...but you're right, M1 and Strikeforce do not have the media promotion UFC does. Without a doubt....and like you said, Brock had a following before UFC because of wrestling. I bet he's happy the Vikings cut him and he's fighting once or twice a year instead of playing every Sunday. A Brock/Fedor fight would be the biggest PPV every. You could account most of that to Brock, but I'd say 25 to 30% would tune in because of Fedor... If Fedor had the businessmen in his corner that Brock does...he'd be well known and famous. His Russian Mafia businessmen are holding him back..no doubt.
-
Fedor is known as a puncher...and a bad ass one. Brock got beat by a BJJ guy too, his only loss....and look at his stock now. Plenty of people know who Fedor is...and you bet your ass if he came over to the UFC, you would see it plastered on every bill board, website and commercial. Not as many people know who Fedor is because Dana White is a media machine... Fedor has fought in substandard and not as well known circuits. The UFC is the top of the top as far as fighter skill and promotions. Look at how big the buzz was when he came close to fighting Couture...and look what Lesnar did to him. Like it or not, Lesnar brought a ton of pro wrestling fans over when he got here...and Dana knows that. How else does a new guy get a belt fight in his first few professional MMA matches?
-
Well...the original poster put this up 2 years ago...so if he's not better by now, chances are he won't be. Check the date before you mine up old threads...
-
I think Fedor has a shot at beating Lesnar as much now as before he lost in a submission... The guy was undefeated for 10 years. Did he face the best/strongest opponents? Yes...no, who is to say. But he crushed them all... That's the beauty of MMA...anything can happen. Fedor vs. anyone in UFC will be the biggest draw ever, unless Fedor goes Liddell and starts on a losing streak... If Fedor loses again, he'll be begging for a UFC fight like no tomorrow...watch.

There is science behind it with intake tract length in conjunction with the motor and exhaust. In reality...on a banshee, use the spacers for clearance. if you were a super bike rider and spent every second in the upper RPMs of the motor and needed every last .5 HP...you could play with the spacer thickness to tune in the motor. I could effectively add crankcase volume...and could be useful if tuned properly. However...in the real world for an everyday banshee owner, bend the lever down, grind off some of the drain plug or put the spacer after the reeds.
-
That exhaust port is HUGE...what % of the cylinder width is that exhaust port? Looks like a piston eater to me too...

For the OOF drag pipes do you plan on offering a removable silencer so a stinger can be used if desired?
-
Says he has 32mil Mikunis.

I totally agree, regardless of what he said...he ran out of gas. His next fight or two, if they make it out of the first round, will be the tell tale sign. That being said...it's possible Lesnar started getting his wits about him, his adrenaline back up or he was deflecting more punches at the end. I know Carwin wanted to dominate him and finish him on the ground...but I think standing up would've been a better option for him. Now that Lesnar's chin has been tested, I think a lot more HW might change their game plan as well. I think you're going to get a perfectly placed punch or kick to that melon to KO him...he's not going down with a brush to his noggin.
