  1. I hate dynos, mainly for the fact they give a very false sense of security. More hearts have been broken than asses busted at the track because of Dynos. There's a dyno queen in Michigan who has posted vids on other sites like he's a guru of some kind. Only to have his motor blow up after a 1/2 hour at our dunes because it was so lean/out of tune to make a number. Anyone in MI knows what my motor and setup used to do. And I'll be the first to admit I'm lazy when it comes to my own stuff. There were plenty of times at the track I'd have a bike geared for me @ 250lbs plus and let friends ride it that are 150 to 170 lbs. Common sense would say re-gear, but I was too lazy. I tune the bike for me... My bike ran good when I owned it. Now Chris..Wheelmanslim owns my old HJR motor now. HE will tune everything on it to a T. Clutch, fuel, chassis, etc. And I KNOW it'll run faster and better than when I ever had it. So...I guess back to my point. The Dyno queen has called me out, asked me if I'm going to build a bike this year, etc. But I've yet to see a time slip from a bike of his. Only dune videos on off weekends Yet...he's the dyno man. I will not tell you I had the fasted bike around here for a 10 mil cub. I will tell you without any hesitation, I had one of the top 10% 10 mil cubs around and it ran good consistently. Anyone on this board or from the track would have a hard time arguing that point. So...in closing, my point was I never hit my 10 mil cub on a dyno. I used my own, albeit lazy, tuning skills and it did well... Dynos are like riding fat chicks. Great when you're alone...but it could be embarrassing for more reasons than not.
  2. HP doesn't give you ETs. ETs give you ETs. There are too many variances, dyno to dyno, tuner to tuner. Now...can they get a setup that is totally out of whack a lot closer to a good state of tune, absolutely. I've seen 100HP beat 120HP machines every time. So baseline HP really means nothing. There's a little 399 motor out there putting the hurt on much, much bigger motors and I'm sure it's no where near the HP of bigger bikes. The guy has a TON of time in the tuning of every little thing and chassis setup. I agree...if your tune is WAY off, it will help you get a better starting point at the track. But a dyno does not account for gearing, surface make up, air pressure, (paddles or slicks, etc.) It is good for getting one part of the equation close...I'll give you that. But I'd throw that dyno honesty and baseline HP in the trash...
  3. I would never look at a dyno room, sheet or claim to buy a motor. I'd look at a track. You can make the same motor say 80 HP on one run and 120 on the next. That being said...Jim has a great following and solid customer service from those that run his motors. Don't go with the cheapest...you get what you pay for. Call the site sponsors. Ask them about their results, ask them where/what they run and race and THEN ask about their turn around time. Some are better than others with turn around time...so make sure that's clear to you and your builder of choice. if you're thinking 1 month and your builder is backed up 4 months...that's a problem. Also...find out where you plan to race...see what they run, who they use..and get their experience. This site has plenty of good builders....just ask questions...and then ask more.
  4. You already know I want a T Shirt and Hoody...and I'll give you cash in hand unless you want it up front...holla!
  5. And you can't comprehend either.... I patted you on the back for a nice job but you just couldn't shut your mouth. We bothered you so bad that you had to spout off the first time you did anything at a track and then came back here. And to be honest...you really haven't done much... Rob @ RDZ 60 foots great but he actually wins races...apparently most of the folks that race flat ground realize you need more tire than when you're at the hill and the weight shifts off the back tire and onto the middle of the chassis. But you're such a smart guy...you must have simply overlooked that. Now I am done Slow, you've done nothing other than run a good 60 foot like you said you would... that's like taking pride for being out front in a marathon after the first 100 feet. Go to the track, win a PS sanctioned race in that class. Otherwise...you're just still spouting off.,.. Like I said, you've had 4 years since my bike went to a PS event...surely a smart guy like you should just be able to kill those times and the whole field. Waiting....
  6. Like I said, pound for pound you'll get beat. You had 2.5 years of someone else doing a lot of racing to learn and compare notes with, regardless if you were doing the riding or benefiting from the knowledge...so don't act like you just sat in a chair watching 3s company reruns. Wheelman has wanted to shut you up himself, and I said let it be..you aren't worth it and haven't done anything at any races on sand...which, you still haven't. I had a bike do better 4 years ago, no tuning, thrown together and someone riding it that never rode my bike before....and it's only gotten faster. If they had a record for fastest pass in 0-465 in a stock frame I'd bet my bike would still hold that.... You ran a good 60...and I gave you that. Last I checked we ran 300 foot in sand son. When you win that class at a PS event come and talk to me. Because mine took second...and there's only one way to beat that. And you've had 4 years longer to do it... so put up or shut up. That's what I thought...
  7. Tell you what...it's going to be a long time before this happens. Very, Very unseasonably warm. There isn't even a paper thin layer of ice anywhere... I have more frost on my windshield in the morning than ice on the lake...lol.
  8. I'm done too.. You're only making yourself look like a bigger ass the more shit you spew. And no one cares. The fact you had to dig it all up three years later tells everyone reading this what a little kid you are with nothing better to do... Karma...remember that. Your next accident will give you more time off to think about things.
  9. You're right on the first part. And I"m tired of all the drama so I've been keeping my distance on all the forums. But my home is where my home is. As far as non-drama information, yep...here you go. Pound for pound we'll beat you at this game on 300ft dirt/sand tracks any day of the week. Pound for pound. There you go...bank on it.
  10. Bryan, i'm trying to give you some respect in the times you're running. But you opening your mouth over and over again to my friends is really making it tough.... I'm going to leave it at this. 2 years to get over your accident is nothing compared to what kind of accident you'll have if you ran your mouth like this to me and my friends in person. I'm glad you did great at that track. Good for you. Now you're just being a drama queen yourself...over and over and over. I've been biting my tongue long enough...it's about time you start.
  11. In order to give you an accurate answer, you need to get accurate information. Compression ratio needs to be used to calculate the need for higher octane, not cranking compression. If you base it off of cranking compression you are only guessing at best. Yes, it is more work...and yes, you will have to take measurements. But it's your money and your motor...is it worth your risky guess or is it worth taking a little more time and knowing you are starting off on the right foot? You have a 4 mil motor that changes everything, so don't take advice based on a stock crank. Also...don't use octane booster. It's garbage, especially in a high revving two stroke motor.
  12. Pick up the flywheel and shake it...if it sounds like things are broken up inside, replace it. Cubs don't need any more spark than a stocker...but since you had it all apart, it's possible something either broke or wasn't put together properly...don't overlook or take anything for granted. Did you measure the squish before firing the bike? What is the timing set at? (Sorry if any of this is answered...I just parsed this thread)
  13. Word... In this sport, Kevin's turn around time is absolutely unheard of. And...he does pretty darned good work too.
  14. You're right...and it's clear that Mark and Takai only want to deal with the elite of the elite. So be it. According to him, this shit sells itself and people are just lining up to use their products...and all the top teams don't return the product when they get it to test. Got news for you...no team EVER returns R&D parts. They're trashed, etc. or simply too busy to put stuff in a box to send it back. Who wants a used part. So that statement about getting stuff back was just ignorant. I really wanted to keep this even and let the product speak for itself, but the DB brought this on himself acting like he was king shit... Said it before and I'll say it again...it's easy to be the king when the room is full of jokers. Instead of coming on this thread and talking down to everyone, acting like he has the world's next best mouse trap...he could've handled it WAY differently... And this guy is customer service? Good luck with that.
  15. I gotta agree. He's probably turned off 99.9% of this site's users with his holier than thou and you're a stupid redneck bum type post. This thing could put out 10HP more and I'd tell him to swap his spark plug with a butt plug....
  16. I disagree. If a big name rider/team used their products I'm sure they'd want to showcase and promote that, not keep it in private. The test, R&D phase and purchase/financial are usually stated in a ND...but who uses the product after the test period is usually public knowledge. I would like to know what teams use this product...
  17. I'd use octane boosters in an absolute pinch if I had too, otherwise, hell no. Octane boosters are good for a point or two, and you'd have to use quite a bit to be honest. Toulene is a common compound used in octane boosters, as well. It is NOT what you want for a high revving two stroke motor. Buy race fuel, again...if you need it based on compression ratio, not cranking compression.
  18. No. I'm saying mine didn't.... I've got three iPod touches in the house (G/F, mine and step son). Step son is lazy when it comes to stuff like that... none of us have ever lost everything. Not sure what your case is...all I can tell you is my experiences.
  19. Sorry Zilla...I respectfully disagree. I lost my itouch 3 for months. It was dead as dead could be... I let it charge once I found it for a day. Everything was there just like I left it, although slow since it had to catch up to all my work email. And no...it wasn't plugged into my computer/iTunes. It was plugged into an AC Charger.
  20. I have my doubts as well...but in all fairness...I could put a paper towel roll on a banshee to get more HP than stock pipes...LOL. I was told how the original GRR/Rocket/Shearer/RDZ pipe thing went down a long time ago, but like everything else, it's all about the story teller's perspective and point of view. I'm looking forward to test results myself, I just wont' be holding my breath...
  21. Not true at all... Honeycomb sucks. Just wait. Ice Cream Sandwhich is coming out for Tablets soon. (Google comes up with the OS names, not me...) Asus Tranformer Prime tablets will be king ding a ling in Android tablet world soon. Apple makes a nice device, their customer service is the shit. I'm just not an apple fan. Too locked down, etc. Android is where it's at for me. I stole a few HP Touchpads for firesale pricing (99 for a 16GB). They are not expandable, but for 100 bucks it was the best technology purchase I've ever made. WebOS is a great tablet OS, it just lacks a good browser and app support. Now that it's been given over to open source developers...that may change. You can also install Android on the touchpad and dual boot either OS. For me, there's more things you can do with Android. I don't like the cell models, I have my phone setup for a WiFi hotspot if WiFi is not available. Just one more cost they stick you with to the tune of $20 to $50 per month.
  22. My guess is they don't own a banshee, anymore than Moroso, Accel, MSD doesn't own all the cars/motor combinations they make product for. Sure...they make a set of wires for a 350 chevy that is put in a gazillion cars...but there's only one banshee motor, one CR250 motor, so on and so forth. Their design, by my quick reading alone, is a coil on plug not unlike many cars today. Put a coil on a spark plug boot... My Hemi RAM is like that, coil pack on each cylinder (with actually 2 plugs per cylinder...lol) My best guess...and this is my opinion only, is in theory it sounds great. No electrical loss through a wire...direct fire to the plug. No interference from other electronics, etc. It is grounded through the spark plug, through the motor and through the ignition (Stator). They are not a new company, quite the opposite. They have been around for a little while. But again, before I shell out $550...I'd want it proven beyond theory. I'm glad the OP has a device to test...for free I'm sure. That's the way a lot of smaller companies R&D work. They don't have the budget for in house dynos, lots of bikes, etc., They give their product to customers and work off their input. Tyler, you should be familiar with this...I'm sure you had one of the first set of Rocket Pipes and R2 versions, no? They counted on your word of mouth (big mouth...lol) to sell/market the product. I'd bet, in turn...they gave you pipes or charged you a bare minimum for them. If it weren't for you and/or Banshee HQ...Rocket Pipes would've never sold more than a few sets ....count on that. (I have a set of pipes at my house that were sent to me at no charge for the very same reason, to test and use...I just retired a little early...but you can call me Brett Farve, I'll be back...lol) Again, I'm not knocking these guys. I am all for new innovation...but with any new shiny product, I remain very cautious in my optimism until proven.
  23. That's the norm for us guys that play in the dirt/sand. I completely understand the reason for both on pavement...You'll probably pick up a tenth in ET and a few MPH with both those changes, if not a hair more. I think the only time my bike was close to 1.3 was a low 1.4 with a 125lb rider on it. That being said, it was geared for me...250lbs. Call me lazy...
  24. Mike... If there's one thing I can assure you it's this... I've been in this game long enough, not much surprises me anymore... I've read more "I bored by cylinder .080 over...how much more HP should I get now" threads than I care to remember.
