I used stock studs on my cub motor. Hand thread in the studs and use RTV on them. You do NOT have to bottom them out. No issues with mine.

Oh, revolutionary reed cages and petals....whoo hoo.... Because the 3's were so good, many people still use the VF2s. Tell me dyno queen, which make more power, VF 2 or VF3...and tell me how much? You are a somebody though John. You're the coolest and smartest person you know. And that's all that counts.

There wasn't enough characters left for "nut sack"...

Do you or I own the 554 that makes .20 per cc? No. Your point...again, is what? None. I know Jer, Linds and Jeff. The whole crew...and they're great people. And yes...you can ask Jeff or Jer or Linds. My old 10 mil ran with them pound for pound when they ran 10 mils. If they still do, I don't know...I've been out of it for 2 years and it's been a while since I talked to and seen them. However, when I do it's always with a smile and handshake... In fact Jeff has rode my old bike quite a few times and his words to me at the track was "I always love riding your bike Dave, it's always crisp and tuned good". He'll back that up 100%. Do you mean the Silver Lake HQ ride or the one that was in Little Sahara last year? If you mean the SL ride...no, wasn't there. If you mean the LS ride last year, yes....Chris was there, with my old bike and motor...and he did pretty darned well from what I've read and heard. I don't ride dunes because slamming whoops at 90 is not my cup of tea. Going through traps at 80 MPH, flat ground, with only one person to worry about is more my style. Lights, timers, controlled environment. I've seen Scotty H. wheelie hard and hit a bump and get on one wheel and not lift. Sorry to say...my stones are not that big nor will they ever be. I've seen J, J &L smash through the dunes as well. IN fact...Jeff is well known for his "light weight, barely there Jeans." Our joke is we'll chip in and get him a pair that wasn't falling apart. Speaking of the Neibargers...(J, J &L) ask them about me, my character and what kind of person I am. I am not a Passion guy. Never have been, never will be. I'm an HJR and FAST guy. Direct competitors to him. And good competitors at that. Mailman did post good info. Info Jim already posted you twisted your own way to make yourself sound better. Whoosh....that was your credibility going right out the door. So you use a dyno to see what parts can do. How about you do what us other racers do. Put some parts together, as a package and make it work. Otherwise, we'll look forward to your prototype boost bottle write up...drooling with anticipation.

Tell Dan Hull (A&S Racing) he's not a pro....LOL. I've seen them in person on a few of his builds. Noss makes a great head too, and Dave Noss is a great guy for our sport. I prefer the simplicity and less Orings of the Chariot.
-
I'll never run anything but. Less Orings to deal with and I like the "Cheetah head" type look with the raised center. Monster 14mm real chrome acorn nuts and brass washers instead of copper. It's a rock star...only head I'll put on my next mil.

Windy....my point is...all this talk about performance this, better pipe that. What track are you personally setting all the records with? Because I haven't seen any of them. Where are all your time slips as a result of all these dyno runs? Do you have the fastest dyno in the midwest? Here's your prize... My WHOLE point is, and I'll use small words, if you've got a dyno and believe in results...where are you seeing them other than on the screen? Because it's not at any of the tracks in MI. I can name at least 10 guys on this site alone that I've seen at the track race after race, year after year. And I personally know dozens more at the tracks and races. Does that make me king ding a ling, Mr. Popular, the man? NO. It just means I go to races and know the people that show up and race. And race with fast bikes and bikes that run well. And that means I know the guys that are fast in the dunes as well. And just side note...the fast bikes are in the dunes on holiday weekends. I know you like to feel fast against a bunch of 400EXs and piped 450s...but the real bikes go on holidays. So for being a guy with a dyno that believes in results...where are your results? I believe in paper....the paper at the track, not the one in a caged room with my bike bolted down. I have a problem when someone says they believe in real world results, yet thinks the cage with tie downs is real world... Let the racers talk...go watch some cartoons.

Note to Jim. And you wondered where he got the name Windy... all air coming out of that mouth. For a casual under rider and track novice, you sure spout off a bunch without proving much...but we don't need to go there. In the years I've been to the MI dunes and tracks, I've never seen you at any of them once. Not once. So again, you can run your mouth all over, just like in your baby Trinity rants...but you're only making yourself look like a fool. You replied and pasted Jim's whole post, yet he asked you where he said they would make more power on every motor. Are you going to try and do that...or just prove you can hit reply, show Jim's post...then not add anything. BRILLIANT. We are going to test the OOF on a 4 mil cub in MI vs. some Shearer pipes. Same day. I believe it's going to be gas...not 100% sure. The man running the dyno has been around them for years and years. I have faith in his dyno ability (that's not a knock against D&M or anyone else in the thread...please don't take it that way anyone.) IF the Shearers make more, I'll post it. If the Sniper make more...I'll post that too. To be fair, the Snipers I have came with several stinger tubes with varying ID. And obviously the Shearer are stamped out of the box. I don't have 100% details of the complete setup, but I will once we get done. Carbs, ported or not, etc. Be a few weeks. Thanks to Mailman for posting up what he did and being civil and honest.
-
Fair enough and I appreciate your honesty!
-
Mailman, while I appreciate sharing the info, truly...I do. How can anyone have any faith in these numbers and runs when they're done over 2 months apart? It is interesting to see the similar power curves...but anyone can tell you that many days apart is not a good comparison of the two.
-
I think I can answer that... Anytime a dyno or power debate comes up, the source is questioned. Mailman is giving all the backfill/pertinent information in case the dyno(s) are in question. I'm glad he's providing the info rather than just pulling something out of thin air. I like facts and information to support them.

Now...I'm not talking about dune racing. That's run what ya brung. I get it. I've always been for rules at the track for any kind of heads up class racing, including weight limits/specs. Any organized racing sanction has them, we don't. While I realize we are not Nascar, Indy, NHRA, etc. I get that. 10 to 15 lbs can be a tenth in our sport...or a few HP.

Look for a LARGE gap or frayed/chipped ends. I had the same set of reeds for over 6 years... One year on gas, all the rest on alky. Good chance they're 8 years old now...I doubt Chris had to change them.

Something millennium must do as part of the final machining process. When I had mine replated a few years ago...every port was perfect, no chamferring needed, and a beautiful A-1 hone as well. Literally, wash it up with soapy water, oil the cylinders and install...
-
Actually...I used to think of Shayne as a 5th of Crown Royal...so, a bottle if you will.

Call him....or text, etc.

There are too many variables for any bike, any track, any build to say if a winner is due to a pipe only. So I don't think it will ever be solved in stone. I can say this...if two products are very similar in results, I'll pay a little more in price for better quality. And quality can be defined in a number of ways... I've never, ever said either pipe was faster. If you have more quality choices out there, no one loses...except maybe some butt hurt fan boy/cheerleaders. And that's always going to be the case no matter what in anything we do...racers are no different. When you have the biggest target on your back, which clearly Shearer has had for a very, very long time, you'll see these kinds of arguments. That actually is flattering to Matt because how long his pipe has been considered the performance standard. But like I've said before, the world isn't flat...and even a little improvement, which could be fit, function OR performance, is an improvement. If all we had in the Banshee Industry was one builder, we'd be riding ported OEM cylinders. We don't, we have choices...which is good for everyone. Just because it's not YOUR choice, doesn't mean it's a bad choice for someone else.

Love that screamin in front of all that fartin behind him...great vids

Phelps, that was funny, I don't care who you are...and boy, do I feel your pain on that one. LOL

Fucking classic....

I ran a pump, the hex pump, DF62, which is 65Lph pump for a long time with billet bowls on Lectrons. Not needed, but good insurance. I switched to a 35Lph pump because no matter what I did with the 62...it would push fuel out the overflow. I never had an issue again. You can get a little more or less pressure by lengthening or shortening the pulse line hose...or putting a small jet in the line. They operate at 4 to 6PSI I believe, so don't mistake fuel pressure with fuel volume... With that long of a run, I think you're making a safe bet with the insurance.

If he is, I'm not selling them for him. I'm retired (until next year....lol) and both he and I are busy, just no time. I can tell you he's going to cut me one when I get back in next year...but, not for the public. I've had others ask...and I just don't have the time.

After reading dozens....yes, dozens of threads regarding WCR's work...here's my personal opinion and conclusion. Greg cuts a great trans, period. The only issue of use I've ever heard was the extreme dunable. Last I checked, he stopped making them but made good on the ones he did make...it was a new concept and design, he got the flaws worked out. However, his business side sometimes lacks. Delays, not answering phones, bad ship dates, etc. I will counter that with this, however...Banshee Aftermarket and Racing is not Amazon or eBay. When custom work is involved....it takes time. If you're buying an off the shelf part, that's one thing. But even if you're buying a pre-cut trans off the shelf, he has to figure out when he's going to cut the next. I think in today's age of everything now and the Internet, a lot of times people jump the gun. Not saying that happened here, not saying it didn't. Greg does quality work....and sometimes it pays to wait and be patient for quality. If you ask any builder, they will tell you I can answer phones all day and talk to people, or I can get work done. But one person can't do both. A lot of these operations are one or two people mom and pops...again, not Walmart online or Amazon. None of them are rich, I can promise you that. They make a living doing something they enjoy...we should all be so lucky.... When I used to sell cut trans, and I sold a TON of them... sometimes someone would ship one and in 2 days they'd ask what's up with it, how long, etc. When I would clearly tell them 10 to 14 day turn around from the day it was delivered. It's one of the reasons I quit selling them. You can bet your arse I had delays (I didn't cut them or receive them, I merely middle man'd them for a friend who always did me right and hooked me up). I dealt with it the best I could. Just remember, if this shit was so easy and common, Walmart would have already cornered the Banshee Aftermarket...or Google/Microsoft would have bought it

Yeah...leave the timing where it's at for now. Those are long runs on a two stroke...make sure you can supply the fuel it needs with smaller domes, and it doesn't heat up too much.
