just sweep it in with a test indicator, dont just cut it to see. and you need to be sure it runs concentric and balanced with the cranks taper ,basically you need to know wha t the hell your doing ,just send it out or get a new one .you probably fucked it up good and likely the face is not square to the internal taper ,itll be very prone to shearering keys and coming loose this way.

CT racing in south cali n e one delt with them
rocketboy replied to fernando427's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
id contact Passion,A&S, f.a.s.t.,or southern style for a dune/drag port getting a stock stroke 347cc she to break 70rear wheel hp with just a port job , pipes and basic addons requires alot skill and know how ,the companys above can do that for you ,most however cant without alky .dont sent shit to TRINITY or CT,LRD,DUNCAN,our any other big name conglomerate IMO being afraid to send your cylinders out to pay 15$ in shipping makes no sense at all, is it worth 10 horsepower to you to have the luxary of a local hack shop grind up your shit get your jugs to you quicker? all these shops have a 5 week turnaround so just be patient, send your jugs OUT and youll be rewarded with a fast machine -
extra money ? like what 20$ ?ever see a pwk airstryker carb ,theyre really badass in design , the intake wings direct air straight across the jet needle and the vent hose routing helps eliminate bog for mx applications. im sure its better but probably not leaps and bounds ahead, i know if i could have an improved version of a car bfor slighly more id do it.

dont feel bad about guys ,that shit isnt a big deal ,heres a great excuse to port your jugs and while its split (crank problems only) then throw in a +4 5mm long rod stroekr crank in therewhile its apart.
-
tthe 88-ups made close to that ,but look in your manual theyre 392lbs for 88-up .the 87 was even heavier with those beefy ass A arms. that chart is very meaningless btw it tells nothing about how the power is delivered ,gearing, its torque, the power curve characteristics ,the traction of the bike, the rpms ,and much more there is a shit load of factors it doesnt take into account for ,its just a general chart showing only a sketchy peak reading # and comparing it to known weights which arent even very accurate .

Mod banshee: we have damn near identical mods on our bikes except mines duneported . and i run a 29$tusk clutch with 3 stock and 3 HD ebc springs and it is an awesome product IMO and holds up to a 70hp built dune she no problem, better than a barnett kevlar IMO too. dont worry about quality issues or if itll hold up they are beefy and work great even for pavement drags and explosive holeshot situations,
-
i wouldnt see why you would have too ,but you might as well, its an awesome noticable mod and cheap$$$,that is right up there with pipes and reeds IMO
-
im thinking your going to be splitting the cases to change that out ,but not for sure if somebody can (or has a trick)do it without the dreaded split.
-
stop starring at your plugs and guessing what to change . its likely your pilot jetting .do the choke trick ,if it runs better wih the choke out at 1/4 throttle then your lean on the pilots ,if it sputters and runs even worse your too rich on the pilots. put the needle in the middle before the choke trick too. also your way overcarbed for your mods and motor IMO and youll never get good bottom end out of those either.IMHO
-
im thinking its not the main at all thats a low main for a ported/piped she. whats the pilots in there? and if you have a leaky clutch side crank seal ,possibly jarred out of location or damaged from your rod throwing mishap youll burn tranny oil and sometimes its just enough to cause all kinds of jetting grief , id say its either that or your head isnt on right ,cause a leakyor loose head gasket can cause a rich condition (and possibly burning coolant too)while a leaky base causes a very lean condition.is this head cut or modified .?cause your bike will load up with oil sometimes if your running shit fuel with small cc domes due to poor burning inside the domes. also look to be sure that the jugs seating surface and cases are flat and not warped or misaligned . throwing a rod and wadding the topend can be a viloent damaging accident, that will negatively affect other things on a 2 stroke motor like I mentioned above.
-
well its kinda hard to say without a pic ,but this bike(86 in good running condition) in my area is worth like 1000-1300 and thats with aftermarket goodies too, if your doing it to turn a profit youll most likely be disappointed . a really sweet ported lt 250 with all new mods and tight chassis and new rims/tires might go for that though.good luck
-
alot of people i talk to that run rockets(myself included) end up with nearly the exact same jetting if they had previously ran t5's or fmf ssts .if it looks liek a duck and quacks like a duck ....its a duck. your most likely still a tad rich dude.come down to 280 and do a plug chop.:bolt:good luck
-
id sart by buying a mid 90's used banshee in good running condition, and start modding the shit out of it ,for the primary motor setup if it were me and i was runnin g short fast races id look into a 4 mill cheetah cub setup with rocket or shearer pipes . your going to have to get some way better chassis and suspension to drag effeiciently too. my.02

gotta use ez wider papers instead of zig zags to clear the peg issue
-
trash them, get vforce 2,they quit making fmf torque reeds for a reason, they suck nutz and dont flow any better than the shitty stock reed setups do
-
the porcelin has tricked many a she owner ,reading plugs in general can be deceiving as hell. egt is the prob ably best way to jet but for a general all around reading id be inclined to trust the base of the plug for color and the strap for heat range and the electrode tip for timing ,im not sold on the whole reading up the porcelin for clip position and main and pilot jetting a slow loaded up ride around the yard can make that whole thing look rich as hell and itll actually be dangerously lean IMHO
-
if it doesnt say it ,then take it to a dealer and have him compare it to a known # pilot what carbs and mods? we can probably tell you very close what you need in there.
-
what are you talkin about willis? the 87 was the worst year by far of the zillas they actaully only made like 40 rwhp anyways .i agree ,they can be quick no doubt but mod for mod they will not hang with a she, not trying to start some lame ass keyboard race its just a fact the zilla cant rev over 9,000+ rpm and a she can hit 11,000rpm+ for being a 500 its only a tad quicker in stock form and cant hold together for shit once its ported for high power.the weights are (386)she and (392) zilla . the 87 had a thick ass liner btw you can bore it to 3.5 mm over thats.138 oversize! the porting was very crude and was considered archaic even for the 80's .there head had not enough studs in it (blown head gaskets),it also had cooling issues and the big reed had bad velocity and made it a lazy rever, not to mention the jug base is very thin (less than 1/8"strip)and bends and warps very easily under the reed box area.i had a built-up ported 87 ,it was ver yfast and torquey as hell but would get its ass handed to it by a 4 mill she every damn time they are fun machines ,but i couldnt keep up on the parts and labor

wd40 is 60% kerosene and is excellent for o ring chains on 2 strokes

Anyone ever heard of these pipes?
rocketboy replied to tree shooter's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
there used to be a site on the she pulse charger pipes (they looked like fmf ssts exactly to me)anyways they raved them up as making a shit load of power on bashees and creating 2 powerband punches in the rpms and reving and hitting harder than any other pipe,if it claims to work a miracle, it would be a miracle if it worked -
