  1. A Fast clutch, a Magnum basket, and a pancake bearing. Great clutch for higher HP, my stock basket was worn, and the pancake bearing will keep the rod, and ball from welding together. I'm also running an E-Z Pull Lever, and perch, because the Fast clutch, with all six heavy springs, is a tough pull.
  2. You've got it adjusted right, according to the pics, and your description.
  3. Everything is right, except the clutch arm on the case needs to be about 1/4" past the arrow on the case, to the stator side. I just put mine in, and adjusted it last night.
  4. Backfiring is usually caused by a lean condition. Check for air leaks, or a plugged pilot, and/or main jet. Do you have stock pipes, and silencers, or aftermarket pipes, and silencers? If you have aftermarket pipes, and silencers, it may be time, to repack the silencers. My brother had the same thing happen, and his silencer packing was plugged up, and it wouldn't run for shit, and backfired real bad.
  5. It sounds like you're lucky to be alive, and not missing body parts, or your sight, let alone still have your Banshee, although it needs some new parts. Your mixture ratio on gas to oil, wouldn't have mattered. It's not the liquid that explodes, it's the fumes. A full container of gas is less likely to explode, than an almost empty one. There's less room for the gas to change, and expand into vapor form, where it's more than likely going to explode, with an ignition source. Hopefully, this was a lesson learned, and you can prevent someone else from getting hurt, in the same manner. Get well soon, and get the Banshee back in running condition.
  6. I re-read my posts, and I didn't say way off, I just said the jetting could have been off. One or two sizes, will make a fairly big difference.
  7. The 795 series Wiseco pistons, and Blaster pistons are for the 115mm long rod, and a stroker crank must either use a spacer plate, or cut domes, to make up for the added crank throw. If you have a long rod stroker crank, you need cut domes, and 795 series, or Blaster pistons, for it to work. If you use the 795 series pistons with a stroker crank, you will have problems, because the wrist pin is moved up 5mm on the pistons, and on the 4mm stroker crank, the crank pin is only moved out 2mm. The pistons would be 3mm shy of the top of the cylinders, which would lower your compression a lot.
  8. Was the other bike yours? If not, you don't know whether or not, there was a problem with the jetting. Personally, I liked the newer Fatty's better than the older series Gold pipes, but to each his own. My point in this whole post was this, there are too many other factors in a drag race, to say this pipe is better than another. Rider experience, state of tune, and several other things have a big impact on the outcome, and it just doesn't mean one pipe is better than the other. Most of it simply boils down to personal preference.
  9. The results you got between the two bikes could very well be a jetting problem, with the other one. I'm not saying that's it, but I used to have a set of Fatty's, and they ran great. Improper carb tuning will kill the performance.
  10. Go with Jeff's clutch, and you won't be disappointed.
  11. You do what you want/can afford, but a new billet basket, and clutch would be cheaper in the long run.
  12. Fast Racing has a good billet basket, and his prices are great, and his shipping time/customer service is excellent. I'm running one of his baskets, I think the brand is Magnum.
  13. It would be wise to replace the seal also, if the bearing needs replaced. Just cover your bases.
  14. The plastic gear, is what turns the impellar, and as far as I know, you have to use the plastic one from Yamaha. The impellar is also plastic, and if you're replacing the gear, you might as well get the billet impellar, so you have one less worry in the future.
  15. I'll second that! That's just plain fugly!
  16. It sounds like your crank seal is wasted. Time for a tear down.
  17. Yes, that would make a big difference. Always hold the throttle wide open, while checking compression.
  18. That's a question, that will vary with personnal preference, but I'm running 34mm Mikuni's, and most will say to run carbs from 33mm-35mm. You could call Jeff at Fast, and ask him, or send him a PM. His screen name is Fastoys.
  19. The cages, and reeds that you took the pics of, with 3 holes in them, are FMF Ram Valves. The Ram Valves are wider than stock, and maybe a little longer. I used to have a set, but I sold them, that's how I know what they are. Someone on here said, that FMF quit making reeds for the Ram Valves, but I don't know, and it would be worth a phone call, to see if FMF still makes them.
  20. I bought and installed a Moose 275 watt stator, and I got it from White Brothers. I've never had a single problem with it, and it's been on for the last 5 years. If anyone is looking for an aftermarket stator, I recommend getting one from White Brothers.
  21. The j arms still have the same tab, for the ball joint, and the tab tends to bend, just out from the weld. The j arms are also weaker, than the a arms, so that could be your problem.
  22. You could have a bent a arm. The tabs for the ball joints on the upper a arms are very weak, on the stock a arms. I've bent several in the last 11 years.
  23. Yeah, it was quite a distance from KC, and Holton, but only about 70 miles from Hutchinson. It seems like quite a distance, but it's not that far. I don't know about the person that I used to work with, that lived there, because there is no communication in or out of Greensburg, plus no gas, electricity, or water. They have a temporary morge set up in a local bar, and they are still in the rescue, and recovery stage. They are afraid that more bodies will be found. From what the news has said, people weren't even safe, if they were in a basement, because some were filled with debris. The videos, and pictures that I have seen, look like a nuclear weapon was dropped on the town. Now they say there are 10 confirmed dead. Here's a video;Tornado aftermath
  24. Greensburg, Kansas was almost completely flattened by a tornado at 9:45 P.M. on Friday night. So far, there are 7 people dead, and 55 wounded. The tornado was a mile wide. The state has already declared the area a state disaster area, and two of Kansas's senators are trying to get President Bush to declare the area a federal disaster area. The town had a 30 minute warning, that the tornado was on it's way. I knew one person that lived there, and I can't tell you how sick, I feel.
  25. I've got V-Force II's, and I didn't have to do any rejetting, when I installed them. When you changed your mixture from 32:1, to 40:1, you richened up your jetting. Drop your main down a size or two, and that should help.
