spark plug tip keeps ripping off
fastbanshee8 replied to ralfrizzo's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sounds like you're getting some detonation. I'd quit riding it, until you figure out the problem, unless you want to rebuild the whole motor. Somebody that knows a thing, or two about detonation should chime in. -
Eset NOD32 has a real good, and free online scanner, that will detect, and remove the bad shit. Here's the link. Free Eset Scan, and remove

Have you scanned the computer for viruses, spyware, trojans, and so on? Something made it do what it's doing, it just didn't happen out of the blue. If it has been scanned, and nothing is on it, you may be able to use system restore, if it still works, and if not, wipe it out, and start over.

Try this then. I've had to do the same thing with XP, once in a while, and it's worked. Vista Winsock Repair
-
See if this helps you out any. Change IP for Vista

Be sure to check the tabs on the upper a-arms also, as they are a weak point also. I tweaked one a little bit, and I had to turn the bars a little bit, to keep it in a straight line.

The only time I've had an O-ring failure, is when the O-ring slipped out of the groove, and got pinched. It's happened once, in 12 years, otherwise the O-rings have been great. Another plus of the O-rings is, they can be re-used many times, unlike the stock head gasket, as long as they are still in good shape.

That's gotta be the breast clutch I've seen in a while.

I got the Magnum basket, and the FAST clutch, and they work great. FAST has everything you need, will answer your questions, and is very quick to ship.

Runs like $hit after a half hour or so

Try putting new spark plug boots on. They're only $4-$5 each. Unscrew the old ones, cut back each wire 1/8"-1/4", and screw the new ones back on. Plug boots can, and do go bad. Almost anything electrical going bad, acts a lot worse once it starts getting hot. It's a cheap easy fix, and if it doesn't fix it, you haven't wasted a lot of time, and money eliminating them as a problem. -
Obama wants a bigger government. And before you think that's not all bad, read the following. THIS IS TRULY THOUGHT PROVOKING. There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told Him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting Communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?" The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity." The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America . The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax cuts, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc., etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time. One should always remember two truths: There is no such thing as a free lunch and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. If you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to forget about voting for the Democrats. The only thing I can add to this is a question for you...... Which candidates out there are most anxious to spread around the feed corn, and what might their motives be? Think about it. ************** The government can't give you anything that they haven't taken away from you in the first place! Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.

Here's a great free online scanner that removes viruses, and spyware. BitDefender Online Scanner, and it's free

Rogue Remover Free should take care of your problem. Here's the link: Rogue Remover Free CounterSpy is the best one for removing spyware/malware, and it has a 15 day free trial. It's only $20 for the first year, and $10 every year after that. It's removed some nasty stuff from my computer over the years. Here's the link for CounterSpy: CounterSpy Version 3

Here's a good free one. It's from Download.com, so there isn't any spyware, or viruses attached. Spyware Doctor Starter Edition 6.0.0.362

I agree with the above post. If your spark plug backed out, then it's probably from detonation, and you could be replacing a lot of parts. It's never a good sign, if a spark plug backs out.

FMF Fatties are also an excellent pipe. The finish on them isn't as good, but the performance is great, and they are cheaper to boot.

I've got an MSD ignition, and it has it's own battery, that charges off of the stator. The charging circuit plugs into the wire going to the voltage regulator, and then the wire continues on to the stock voltage regulator. I'm not sure if the battery would charge at all, when the lights were on, but it should charge okay, when the lights aren't on. Maybe someone will a little more electrical expertise should chime in.

Doc says I need to quit riding..........
fastbanshee8 replied to caddyman's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I've had nerve problems in both hands for the last two years. I had ulnar nerve transposition done in my left arm 2 years ago, and my pinky, and ring fingers still tingle, but it was because the nerve damage was really bad. The doc said it may take 5 years to get the nerves healed up, so that they work right. I just had ulnar nerve transposition, and carpal tunnel release done on my right arm, a little over 2 months ago, and it's taking a lot longer to heal up, than the first surgery. The carpal tunnel release is painful, but things are getting better. The bad thing with nerve surgeries, is the longer you put them off, the worse the nerves get damaged, and you can end up with permanent nerve damage, so I suggest that you get the carpal tunnel done ASAP. The good thing is, not a one of my 3 doctors has said for me to quit riding. Good luck, and don't give up on the riding. If you put your mind to it, you can do whatever you want, even if the doctors tell you that you can't. -
The Turf Tamers are a great tire, but so are the Kenda Claws. I've ran both Turf Tamers, and Kenda Claws, and would recommend either for your application.
-
I've got the MSD ignition also, and the wire that helps charge the battery, is also the wire that runs into the voltage regulator, and then to the lights. If you have the stator re-wound to provide less current to the battery, it's also going to be less power to the lights.

I made the same exhaust change, about a year, and a half ago, and you will have to change your jetting. I had to go down on the pilot jet, several sizes, and up several sizes on the main. I think I also had to change the clip on the needle, but it's been long enough since I did it, that I can't remember the exact changes I made, so I'm probably not the "help", that you were looking for. LOL

They are nickel plated steel. I had a set that had a hole in them, and a friend of mine brazed it shut, and it held for years.

If you have the pods for the stock carbs, you can boil some water, and just put the rubber boots into the boiling water for a little bit. Put them on while they are still hot, and they will stretch out nicely, to fit the 30's.

Yellow fenders with a red, or black tank cover, and radiator shroud would look pretty wild, with the red frame also. Something like this, but with a red frame. http://www.motorsports-network.com/YAMAHA/banshee2.jpg
