  1. Are the fingers on the basket grooved real bad? If so, that will cause the plates to not want to seperate, and cause you grief.
  2. Once the top end is rebuilt, try some 280 mains, and you should be able to whip that 400 easily.
  3. I've had the 250w Moose stator for 6 years, and I've never had a single problem with it. My bike runs great, and I'm running two sets of light off of it, with no problems at all.
  4. Run Dr. Web Cure It. It's free, and here's the link. http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/
  5. If the carb still overflows after all that stuff is checked, you will need to replace the needle, and seat above the floats, in both carbs. Also, check to make sure both air mixture screws are adjusted the same number of turns open. They should be between 1.5, and 2 turns open. Pull the main jets, and pilots jets out of both carbs, and spray carb cleaner through them, and make sure they have no blockages in them.
  6. Check the gap between the flywheel, and the pick up coil. You should be able to slide a match book cover between them, and that's it. Also, it might be a good time to replace both spark plug boots, they're cheap, and easy to replace. Try those two things, and let us know.
  7. I got a PM also, but I didn't click the link. I copied the shortcut, and did a google search to find out what it was, and it was a known bad site, so I just deleted the email.
  8. That's fine, but did you make sure both adjustment bolts on the carrier are adjusted the same? If the carrier is crooked, the sprocket will wear on one side, or the other.

  10. I have admin rights on a completely different forum, and banning his IP addy will keep him off of here for good. If HC is going to make threats to the forum as a whole, he should be history. The funny thing is, you can never please everyone all the time, but you sure can piss most people off all the time. That's a little saying I heard many years ago, and it still rings true today.
  11. My brother is leaving for Kuwait/Iraq on Easter Sunday, so I stand to lose more than just a neighbor, or friend in this matter, if things don't go well. The thread starter on this subject has no clue. If you want real info about the subject, talk to family, or friends that have served, or are serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and so on. I'm calling BS about the neighbor having to sell the house, because she couldn't pay for it by herself. Do you think her husband isn't getting paid for his service? They get paid every two weeks, and it's automatically deposited in their bank account state side, plus they get hazardous duty pay, and furthermore, their pay is 100% tax free. We are over there fighting terrorism, not Iraq, or Afghanistan, like the previous poster mentioned. I guess all of you that want all of our service people home, would rather have the same shit that happened on 9/11, happen all again, on our soil, so that innocent children die, along with their parents. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. What's it going to take for some of you to realize, that freedom isn't free???
  12. No. Just make sure the tire bead is clean, along with the inside of the rim, where the bead seats. Soapy water sprayed on the tire bead helps it seat up a little easier.
  13. You need to pop the inner pieces out of the reed cages, and check to see if the plastic halves screw together, or snap together.
  14. The VF2's, and the VF3's take completely different reeds. Check with Jeff @ Fast. Do your cages snap together, or screw together? The VF2's screw together, and the VF3's snap together.
  15. Not only is the lid restricting air flow, but have you checked your float height? Having the floats set too high, will cause it to run rich. When my bike was pretty much a stocker with bolt ons, FMFs, foam filter, and reeds, it needed 290 mains at around 1,500 ft elevation. That was with the lid on, and the snorkel removed. I find it hard to believe that 240 mains are all you need with your mods.
  16. Try turning both air mixture screws all the way in, to lightly seat them, and then open both of them 1.5 turns. If it's got fuel in the carbs, and is getting spark, chances are it's too lean to start. You might even try just opening the air mixture screws 1 turn each, and see if you can get it to start, and if it does, then adjust the air mixture screws from there. You may also have to put bigger pilot jets in, either some 27.5s, or 30s.
  17. Is there fuel in the bowls? Did you pull the pilot jets out, and make sure they are clean? Compression?
  18. Good things come in pairs. Tits, and Twin Cylinders. RIDE HARD
  19. See if this will fit your needs. http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646....html?tag=mncol I used it to make a copy of my Windows XP CD, because the original was starting to get scratched up pretty good, and best of all, it's a freebie.
  20. Nope. It flows the same, both ways, and besides, the tool measures the air coming into the backside of the carbs, not the fuel/air mixture going out the front, which is what the balance tube will affect. That carb sync tool is the shit. No matter how good of an eye you think you've got, you'd be surprised how far off they really are.
  21. If you're going to be downloading music, and other crap off of torrent sites, you'd better make damned sure you have very good antivirus, and antispyware programs. No freebies, or you'll be back here in a few days wondering why your computer is slow. A friend of mine was downloading of off Limewire, and he got 45+ trojans, from one damned song. Be careful.
  22. Did you get install instructions with your pancake bearing, and did you follow them to the "T"? One thing that I know you did wrong, is the clutch arm doesn't line up with the arrow on case, when installing a pancake bearing. It has to be adjusted past the arrow on the case 1/4" to the stator side.
  23. You are getting awful lean on the main. Check your float height, and make sure it's set right. It sounds like the float is set too high, allowing the bowls to overfill, and making it run rich.
  24. Sounds like the tab is bent, that the ball joint is housed in. They bend pretty easily right where they connect to the tubing.
  25. Go up to a 320. Popping, and backfiring are a sign that it's lean.
