  1. Basically, it all comes down to traction. You can have all the HP in the world, and it won't do you any good, if it's not hooked up to the racing surface. There are a lot more factors to winning a drag race, than just torque, and HP.
  2. Yes it is, and I've had one for close to 8 years, with no problems at all.
  3. No banshee owner should be without a Clymer's Manual. That should be your first purchase, after the quad. I was very tired when I wrote the original post, and it should read as below. If excess gas is running out the overflow tubes, it's caused by either improperly adjusted floats, and/or bad needles and seats, which is causing your float bowls to overfill. This causes a rich condition, and fouls the plugs. Make sure the float heights are adjusted properly, and if it still does it, then it's time to clean, and/or replace the needles, and seats above the floats. If those needles, and seats get worn, they will allow the bowls to over fill, causing it to run like shit, and drip gas out of the overflow tubes. Get that stuff fixed first, and it might be alright, or it could have other problems.

  5. FMF's like a richer pilot jet, than most pipes. Get some 27.5 pilots, and put them in.
  6. Hard starting is a sign that it's lean. Try a bigger set of pilot jets, or turn the air mixture screws in, and see what happens.
  7. Try some 290 mains, and report back the results.
  8. Those are nice, and I've saw a few on Banshee's at the dunes, but I wouldn't buy from that guy, as he's from Hong Kong. You're just asking to get ripped off.
  9. Type F ATF works well, but it doesn't last as long, and it's cheap also.
  10. I broke 5 ribs on my left side. When I got up, it felt like Lincoln Logs rolling around in my chest.
  11. It's not the gas that's the problem, it's the two stroke oil mixed with it. When I used it, the JB Weld stuck well, but after getting a fair amount of gas, and two stroke oil on it, the JB turned into a silicon type substance, which was worthless for my needs. The local engine builder won't use it, because he's had the same type of problems as I have. There are some types of epoxies that will work, but from what I've saw, JB Weld isn't one of them.
  12. It could be a registry error, or a Vista error. Try wiping out the HD, and re-installing the the operating system.
  13. It sounds as though your pilot jet needs cleaned, and on a side note, I've heard nothing but bad things about the Ricky Stator electrical stuff.
  14. Check the cap on the pick-up coil on your flywheel. It should be set at .020, and now would be a good time to replace your spark plug boots. They are cheap, and easy to replace. When you replace them, be sure to cut a little off the ends of the wires, and they just screw in.
  15. I agree with J-Madd on this one. If the timing is screwed up, they will kick back. You don't by chance, have one of the off-set timing keys in it do you? If so, it could be sheared, or in backwards. If that's not the case, then maybe you sheared the flywheel key.
  16. I'm guessing that you still haven't checked the pickup coil gap, or changed out the spark plug boots? Do the simple easiest things first, and then proceed on, if none of them fix it.
  17. Yes, the choke tube will cause an air leak, if it's missing, loose, or cracked. Replace the tube first, and see if that fixes the problem. From my past experiences, you have an air leak, that's causing it to rev to the moon.
  18. JB Weld will not hold up to gas, and two stroke oil. I've tried it on a carb cap, and it lasts about an hour, at best. A friend of mine that builds engines has used some epoxy before to repair two stroke cases, but I don't know the name brand, but I do know it was for concrete, and steel, if that helps any.
  19. It's 20 ft. lbs., on the torque, and cool heads don't use a head gasket, they use o-rings to seal them. Believe it, or not, but there have been quite a few people try to use a regular head gasket with an aftermarket head, that's o-ring sealed, and it usually leaks.
  20. I got mine from the local shop, but I'm sure one of the site sponsors sells them also.
  21. I've been down so many times, that I've lost track, but we only live 3 hours from Waynoka, so it's not that bad. The only thing I can recommend, is to not go down for the first time, on the big weekends. It's hard to find camping spots, or motel rooms, plus it's so busy you really have to watch out for everyone else out on the dunes. On the big weekends the place is packed, and you usually hear the ambulance several times a day, coming out to pick someone up, that's gotten hurt. Whatever you do, get some rear paddles, watch out for everyone else, and ride safe.
  22. I really hope you don't plan on putting a regular head gasket on a cool head, because they are sealed with o-rings. You can buy a complete o-ring kit from FAST, or just about any of the site sponsors.
  23. A Clymer's manual is one of the best investments you can make, as a banshee owner. The manual, and a decent set of tools is a must.
  24. Have you checked the gap on your pick up coil, by the flywheel? It's supposed to be gapped at .020. If it's not, then it can cause firing issues. While you're at it, you might as well replace the spark plug boots, as they are cheap, and easy to change. They just screw onto the ends of the plug wires.
