  1. Yup, Bob is amazing! We typically shoot our handguns out to 200 yards. Many people think handguns aren't accurate at that distance, but they're more accurate than the shooter most of the time. It's not that the gun isn't accurate, it's just that the shooter doesn't have the trigger control and proper sight alignment to make accurate hits at that distance. I find shooting handguns more fun than rifles for this very reason. Hitting a basketball-size rock at 200 yards with a handgun is far more gratifying than hitting it with a rifle.
  2. Here is an article snippet on Bob Munden, another world record speed shooter... "His fast-drawing abilities have astounded audiences world wide. Munden's fastest time, officially recorded in New York by Guinness Book of World Records representatives, is a one and three-quarters one hundredths of a second
  3. Basic rule of thumb when dealing with internet conversations/arguments; when someone says he is not going to post in that particular thread again, he will do exactly that at least 1 more time (probably two). Ok, so you either got an anti-hunting judge, or a very conservative one who favors boundary laws more than hunting priviliges. Either way, you got lucky as you in no way were justified to discharge your firearm as there was no imminent or immediate danger. I think you know this whether you want to admit it or not. It went in your favor, so I guess it doesn't matter at this point. Granted, if I were the hunter in question, I wouldn't trespass to begin with. However, if someone opened fire on me for a similar "reason" rest assured I would return the favor post haste. You think i'm being "silly" about all of this, and you're entitled to that opinion. It is my opinion that when people go to extremes when they aren't warranted, they do more harm than good. Yes, he shouldn't have trespassed on your property. No doubt. But if the media ever caught wind of that, I assure you, you would have paid the price with the ensuing bad press and would have been labeled everything from a gun-toting hillbilly to a terrorist. That's the world we live in, unfortunately. You say I don't know the particular circumstances of what happened which is true....because you didn't post the entire story. All I had to go by was exactly what you posted. And you have to admit, by your original post on the subject, it made it seem like you shot at the guy and held him at gunpoint for trespassing until law enforcement arrived. You mentioned nothing about the laws of your state, etc. Add to that the fact that we are on the internet and you can see how this can get out of hand quickly. You don't have to appologize for underestimating my shooting abilities and calling me a liar. Since you did, though, I accept your appology. I am a Grand Master-level marksman which is something you don't find every day at the range. So, when someone claims to be that, it can be hard to believe. I understand that. My calculations are spot on as far as my triple tap times and that slide cycle times are much faster than 3/10s of a second. That can easily be proven as there are hundreds of websites that have frame-by-frame videos of this exact thing. One of Jerry Miculek's world records is 5 shots on target in half a second from a .38 revolver. Another is 60 rounds out of 10 revolvers at one target in 18 seconds. When you see world calss shooting like this, it makes me look slow by comparison. Anyway, I see in another thread you support Bush so I suppose you can't be all that bad.
  4. 3/10s of a second for a semi-auto pistol to eject a spent case and feed a frech one? BUWAHAHAHA! That happens in MICRO-seconds, my friend. 3/10s of a second is an eternity compared to the time it takes to eject and feed in a semi-auto pistol. Maybe YOU need to check your calculations. Ever hear of Jerry Miculek? He holds many world records for speed shooting. All of which put my split and triple tap times to shame. So, if you have a hard time believing me, I suppose he's full of crap, too? Please, give me a break. Open the Guiness Book of World Records and see for yourself. I may be a lot of things, but i'm not a liar. Even better, attend a local IPSC match and see how quickly and accurately the Grand Maters of the sport shoot. Hope you like the taste of your foot in your mouth, because you will see first hand that i'm not a liar. Secondly, you live in one of the top 10 liberal states in the country. I am willing to bet your piss-poor judgement of shooting at that guy's vehicle was a felony. You were not in immediate danger, had no need to defend your life and therefore were NOT justified in discharging a firearm. It is gun owners like you that the media portray as trigger-happy hillbillys. YOU were the one who should have gone to jail. It amazes me with your family background you would behave in such an irresponsible way. Ever have to defend your life by taking anothers? No??? Then DO NOT talk as if you know what happens after a self defense shooting. That's how misinformation is spread. Same way BS is spread about ATVs and other off-road vehicles. If you don't know, keep your mouth shut. KRMit, Beating my chest? Yes, I tend to get a little wriled up when people do things that ruin it for other responsible people...like trigger happy gun owners, street racers, bad hunters and irresponsible ATV riders. You should too. They are the ones getting our constitutional rights stripped away from us, drag strips torn down, hunting privilages taken away and riding areas closed off. So, please excuse me for "venting".
  5. I'm sure there are local IDPA or IPSC shoots in NYS. These are nation wide organizations. Run a search and find out when and where they are. At the very least, you can organize local bowling pin shoots in your area. They are super simple to put together and tons of fun to compete in.
  6. BTW, here in PA you are justified in the use of lethal force to protect personal property. By just tampering with someones vehicle the owner is well within his rights to kill you. I am more than positive this includes shooting at the owners vehicle. The law also extends to trespassing.
  7. My friend, I am champion competitive shooter in half a dozen different forms of the shooting sports including GSSF, IPSC, IDPA, FCSA and long rang handgun shooting. I shoot 1000 yard competition with my AR50 chambered in 50BMG and hold the record in a local long range handgunning (which is done at 200 yards with service-size handguns and open sights and targets no larger than a basketball.). You have NO idea of my qualifications or what i'm capable of, so don't make the assumption that I wouldn't be able to get a shot off. Assumption is the mother of all f*uck-ups. I can go from the low-ready position with the gun I carry every day, a Glock 20, and put two in the chest and one in the head of a man-size target at 10 yards in 3/10 of a second. I am also a certified NRA instrutor and Glock armorer. I think it just may be YOU that's dreaming. Anyway, the point is don't label an etire group by the actions of a few. I would think you would know this based on your claimed family background.
  8. Judging and stereotyping ALL hunters by the irresponsible actions of a few is not only ignorant, but it's the same damn thing anti-ATV people do by juding ALL of us by the irresponsible actions of the few assholes who trespass and tear up private property with their ATVs. That makes you the same kind narrow-minded ignoramous the tree huggers are. The overwhelming number of hunters in this country are mature, law-abiding people with an unequalled love of the outdoors and of the spirit of the hunt. Just like the majority of ATV owners are mature people who obey local and federal laws and the great outdoors. And another thing, shooting at a guy who is armed is down-right stupid. Sounds like you are a prime candidate for the next Darwin Awards. Were I the owner of the vehicle you shot I while I was out hunting, you would immediately find yourself under a hail of gunfire and I assure you I wouldn't be aiming for your tires.
  9. I told him i'll take the rims and tires. Thanks guys.
  10. OK, the rims are ITPs all the way around, rears are beadlocks. Tires are new ITP MX Holeshots. I think i'de be crazy not to pick them up for $400.
  11. I think it's just rear beadlocks (fronts are not 'locks, but matcing new rims from the same manufacturer.)...but the tires are new on all 4 corners.
  12. Brand new Holeshots on beadlocks. Don't know what brandname rims (forgot to ask). Gotta be worth $400, right? Buying from a dude I know. Says he paid around $800 for the rims and tires new.
  13. According to Toomey's site, they claim it's a waste of time and money. Does anyone here have any kind of proof (besides seat-of-the-pants) that boost bottles perform as advertised? As in improve response and build power quicker in the revs? Any dyno sheets?
  14. Hard to speculate on the actual chain of events, but it could have puked the head gasket first then smoked the ring due to the air leak (blown head gasket).
  15. Asking what pipes "sound best" is getting about as subjective as you can get. It's a personal thing. Ask 10 different people, get 10 different answers. It's like someone asking is that quad/car fast?"...fast compared to what? Do your pipes sound nice?"...nice compared to what? Very subjective.
  16. Post mortem shows I melted a ring in the right cylinder. Both bores look excellent. A new piston and rings in the right jug and she will be as good as new again. This is a BIG relief considering the carnage could have been MUCH worse.
  17. The shop owner is a close personal friend of mine, so it's just like having a buddy help with a project. It's not like I am paying an arm and a leg at a big dealership. Just throwing my friend a bone more or less. Yes, I certainly have the skills and the tools to do such a simple job. My son and I do quite a bit together, especially with the race car and such. I also have a big commute to and from work that kills most of the evening after work. The quad will get done much quicker this way besides the fact I'm also helping out a friend with giving him work. I plan on a complete engine overhaul next year and just wanted to get through the rest of this year on the stock engine. I have big plans for the 'shee engine-wise and that's when my son and I will built it together. Anyway, a compression test revealed the right cylinder with 40psi and the left side with 120psi. The right side is shot. The question that will be answered tomorrow after it's torn down is how bad and if it needs to be bored. If it's a matter of the rings being fused to the piston, I may be able to just re-ring a new piston on the left side and be done. If the left cylinder was below 100psi, I would probably opt to do both, but being that 120psi is not that bad considering the beating this bike was given and that I will be going all out with it next year anyway. I may just "band aid" it for now and do her up right next year.
  18. I did have a compression tester, actually 2. You would think I wouldn't have lent the second one out after a friend who borrowed the first one broke it but... Anyway, I dropped the Banshee off at a local ATV shop to have them look at it. Being a single dad, I really don't have the time to play with the Banshee (along with my race car). I told them to take it apart and let me know what's wrong with it BEFORE they fix it. I'll let you guys know what the problem is as soon as find out. I am leaning towards a fresh top end. The engine has never been apart since new (2001) and has been ridden hard by a couple previous owners who didn't take the proper care for the quad (i.e. no maintainence). Stay tuned...
  19. My main concern is I can work the kickstarter with my hand...as in very little compression.
  20. Here is what it's doing. Very hard to start and when it finally does, it won't idle without stalling and is backfiring from the right pipe. The bike ran like a raped ape up until this. I think I smoked a head gasket as I was riding on a small piece of land mostly putting around. I would get on it every now and then for short bursts. It was fine until I did a second gear burnout on asphalt. About 3-5 seconds into the burnout it stalled and that's when the problems started. Also, when it does eventually fire, the pipes get hot VERY quickly along with the radiator. Guesses?
  21. DOH! I misread what you typed. I thought you said you nearly hit a tree on YOUR quad, not your friends. My mistake.
  22. I had the opposite experience this past week. I got off my banshee <mods listed below> And hopped on my friends total stock shee except a toomey 2-1 filter. I was coming up to a hair pin right ,and almost clipped a tree on the left, because that power wasnt there. It's all in the tune, dude. Sounds like it needs a little fine tuning. All the mods in the world won't amount to a hill of beans if the tune isn't there.
  23. I'll have pics by the weekend. They're gonna be pretty useless though, as i'm going to paint it custom colors. I'm an auto body painter by trade and just can't leave well enough alone...engine OR paint.
