  1. Just wanted to address the above small blurb... I couldn't agree more about getting out and voting. Its easy to look at it like you're 1/294,000,000th of the country and your vote "doesn't count" but, it does. It reminds me of all these guys in the S10 forum that cut their cats off their trucks and say "but, I'm only a drop in the bucket, so its OK". Bullcrap -- EVERYBODY is a drop in the bucket and it all makes a difference. BTW, no offense to anyone who's gutted or cut their catalytic convertor... just the ones that think they can justify it by "oh it makes no difference because I'm just 1 person."
  2. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31029 Some states you can, some you can't. Apparently Arizona allows it, but michigan doesn't. Here's our Dictatorship's blurb on it: http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-2...8594--F,00.html
  3. 1/4" thick welded aluminum. Mmmmmmmmmm. mrmatt, mine doesn't look like that yet... but it hopes to some day
  4. What city/state are you in? I've got a Weider Crossbow in the house here (the 420lb upgraded deal) but got a buddy here in search of one.
  5. u can get a trx250r cheaper now. they arent as expensive as they used to be. i would get a trx 250 out of all those 3 u named, just because it does out preform them in suspension and everything else. Uh, suspension is the *only* thing it outperforms them in. Mind you yes, that is a large factor, but the Tecate-4's engine, hands down, is the best. I had an '87 Tecate-4, an '88, and now have a '89 TRX250R and my '96 Banshee. The Tecates were really fast and fun but the handling wasn't all that great. My $.02, if you're looking for a 250, get the TRX250R. If you want more power out of it, just get it built. The LT..hehe. They're fine too.. but my last choice..
  6. I run the Armadillo here and it is great. I too bounce off of stuff at a regular basis and it has held up perfectly. The PRM ones seem to be good too though... you won't go wrong either way.
  7. thats cold. You beat me to it... guess there is always somebody to crack a joke no matter what.
  8. That's sad... I'm sorry to hear that. Another good reason to wear a damn helmet..
  9. I second that. With the exception of some of their Alloy Series stuff (nerfs, grab bars)... DG is not very good (just my opinion).
  10. Ah that first one is a rip-off of this... http://butifnot.tripod.com/racecar.html "The Insanity Test" pretty funny stuff.
  11. The only problem with that is that Banshees have about 16 more years in production than the 250Rs so they are quite a bit more readily available.
  12. I believe Toomey has a TORS removal kit. You basically just unplug the stuff and remove the box, and it comes with the new carb tops and whatever else it needs. Nothing too major to install though.
  13. Hehe.. thats funny. My brother-in-law is in the military. One night we were doing the brakes on his car out in my sis's driveway. He had bought this "quick release" c-clamp at Autozone.. made in China. Anyway the quick release part was totally hosed up and the clamp was useless.. hadn't even used it, just took it out of the package. We weren't happy. He was cussing and swearing about it for quite a while. Yeah, we use 'em to compress brake calipers.. My sis and I drove out to Meijer and bought a normal one (made in the U.S.A.) and it worked great, at like half the price. I just use Craftsman stuff personally, due to not having to work on stuff daily. If something breaks, chances are it is no big deal to go without it for a few days till being in the neighborhood of a Sears store. Otherwise its a whopping 15 min drive there from here The tools hold up well though, and just are nice overall.
  14. You don't find out who your true friends are until push really comes to shove. What's that quote again.... A good friend will bail you out of jail, while a true friend will sit beside you in the cell and say "man, that was cool as f***". But, anyway, it does sound like you got a bum deal. I guess the moral of the story is to keep everything as legal as possible so if you do have to stop, the man can't stick it to ya too badly. Or, keep an extra different colored set of plastics around for those days and run like hell!
  15. Check Fleabay. Got my yellow 5.6gal IMS tank, cap, & hardware off of there, shipped, for <$100. Though, still gotta get the bar risers and a yellow rad shroud to match it. They're nice for the added size, but man are they fugly!
  16. It sounds like you just got stuck with bad luck. My motto is that if you know where you're going and weren't being a dick or doing anything totally out of the normal, run like hell.. run like hell. edit: oh yeah, forgot to mention. evading an officer is a felony in Michigan. kinda throws a damper on things..
  17. If by the water pump kit you mean a new impeller, you just need to drain the tranny lube and the engine coolant, and pull the right-side cover. The rest is pretty straight forward. Also, I'm guessing you're referring to the white plastic cover behind the counter sprocket. Its just basically a cover for the shift drum. Quicksand Motorsports has replacement ones also.. http://www.quicksandmotorsports.com/
  18. Yup, Ricky's page has a good pic of the plate he sells. You can see which way to rotate it. You can see the + and - signs pretty easily. http://www.rickystator.com/pages/Yamaha_Ba...ming_plate.html
  19. The stock clutch should hold up to all of that. I've got porting, larger carbs, intake and pipes, timing, and CoolHead, and the stocker works fine.
  20. Did you try disconnecting the bloody TORS box yet? That might be doing it...
  21. Had mine for under a year. It had a clunking in the trans when I got it which is why I paid so little for it. Dumped new gear clusters in and it was all good. Other than that, save for the Toomey pipe mounts failing, its been great!
  22. ...Ford PowerStroke diesels, movie quotes, pics of women, pics of women on Banshees, talk about women...
  23. I'm guessing he meant 10W40 because of the friction modifier part.. I run ATF type F. Gotta change it every few rides but it works well.
