Oh yeah.. not even a real race, there. Mr 400ex didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

Why Are Banshee's Dirt Cheap?
nater006 replied to 01 Blue Screaming Banshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yep.. you want to sell a few weeks into the season. It gives people a chance to ride their friends quads, get a case of the "I want!", and buy yours. All of my previous machines I've sold... Tecate-4, (2) CR500s, '91 Banshee, and more... all have been sold in the mid-spring, early summer. Most all were bought in the bleak midwinter, also Some of the prices are falling due to the impending doom of 2006 probably. People are jumping on the 4-stroke bandwagon. -
Freedom of choice on the helmets... thats what I feel. Have always and will always wear one, but let the stupid people work themselves out of the gene pool. Darwinism at its finest.

I like my bland Cool Head too but just not its blandness Seeing those spiffy blue and red anodized setups just had me wanting...
-
Lookin into these, myself... The Quicksand ones look nice. Haven't really done much reading or homework on Banshee suspension upgrades though. Looking for +2 width... does the +1 forward make a good difference in the handling? Already running Works front shocks (not sure which series.. they came on the quad and have covers on 'em.. haven't taken them off) so assuming they'll work okay with +2 arms?

Man... I want a spiffy blue anodized Noss head! The ProDesign Cool Head that came on mine is so bland... the Noss ones look spiffy

My $.02 is that if you're dealing with a stock to mildly modified machine and want a little better lows and mids, go with the 2-to-1 Trinity setup. If you're looking to highly modify the engine or get some great top-end gains, get bigger dual carbs. Synchronizing is an occasional pain and yeah you have to spend a few bucks more for jets but... when its set correctly, it rules
-
Ah... sorry to hear that, man. Good luck with the repairs.. hope they go quick, easy, and inexpensively.
-
Yes it does. In all honesty I haven't put much jet time into it yet. Knew it was off (boggy high range) and worked down through the numbers as quick as possible. Should be easy to figure out for summer, also, now. But yeah.. its good knowing that I know just where it should be for 30-40 degree weather at my elevation easy to work from there to figure out any other jetting changes. And yup... going like crazy is a good way of putting it

First off, I suck at jetting. I suck because I hate it because...every machine I've purchased has had its jetting totally off the friggin wall. The CBR900RR had 160 main jets (2.5 increments) when it should have been at 122.5! It ran.. not well though. Its close now.. 125's. My old Tecate-4? Ha.. dont even go there. Guy must have been running like an alcohol/gas mix.. it was about 50% too big. Unreal. CR500's? 3 sizes off on the first one, 2 on the second one. The Banshee? Couple sizes too big... 250R? another alcohol mix candidate or something. So there's a jetting history. Hence the reason I hate it with a passion. Never know quite why someone would put those large large jets in and don't want to drop it in size too quickly... = tons of jetting hassle in my life. Anyway.. over the weekend.. I popped 230's into my Shee and took it out. Checked it, wasn't bad, so I went out and screamed for a bit. The plugs are a nice golden brown. Its about friggin time! like 7 machines later something is finally jetted perfectly Sorry.. just am happy and had to tell somebody before I burst.

Toomey T-5, T-6 Sounds, And Questions
nater006 replied to 01 Blue Screaming Banshee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Toomeys aren't going to be your best bet for low end either, BTW. They're great if you want to scream by 'em and want a terrific top end on your shee but they aren't a very good low pipe. Love my T5s but they are not very good for woods. Pretty loud too.. -
Toomey T-5, T-6 Sounds, And Questions
nater006 replied to 01 Blue Screaming Banshee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
No mp3 or wav sounds here but.... dinga dinga ding ding ding reeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE just say that out loud.. maybe add a couple more dingas on the low end, some dings in the middle.. and make the reeeee really loud. Close enough -
I have the same problem. Have to hold it out. Luckily the shee isn't as hard to kick as my CR500R's were, so holding the choke while kicking it isn't hard... Been told that replacing the plunger assembly remedies this problem. It runs like $30-40 apparently. Never gotten around to changing mine... for the 4 kicks and 10 seconds of holding it out, I can live with it for now

Gonna do the PRM 6-pack rack here too. Got a 6-pack rack on the R and love it. It would just accent the currently saggy and crappy rear shock i have now so its waiting for a few months...

Grrrr... just when its starting to get warm and I switch the jetting... BOOM.. it gets cold cold again. I know... shouldn't be complaining but... blah screw Michigan sometimes!

Hmmmmmmmmm... I have a problem with broken/frayed cables. Just always made a point of having an extra cable on hand and keeping the current one well lubed so it doesn't get really dry and sticky and start to fray/snap. Just noticed some reviews that said it was the best thing since sliced bread, but in all reality the Magura looks kinda dinky. Might eventually invest in the Billetanium one if the cable thing becomes a constant problem. We'll just have to see
-
How are these? They look nice and it seems like lots of people have 'em on various machines. Found an article that basically said that the pullrod on them is really thin and like a bicycle spoke. Easy to break? The Billetanium one looks nice but $400 is a lot of dough for that assembly. I have the opportunity to get a Magura for a really good price which is why i'm asking...

I got some of the exhaust tape junk from Autozone (like $3 if I remember right) and wrapped one layer around the connection between the silencer and pipes. Then put the silicon heater-hose sections over that, and hose-clamped it down. No leaks at all now That exhaust tape peels right off, too, if you ever need to take the silencers off or whatever. Just a cheap and easy fix. Those billet clamps are nice too.. just was too impatient to purchase and wait for one at the time so the exhaust tape & heater hose trick still resides on mine.

http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23074 I think thats the post you're looking for. Seems the most likely candidates are plugged pilots and air leaks. Boots on mine are pretty new so betting on the pilot.

I've got a similar thing going on... just at idle. Its not a whole lot more but if you watch it it is noticeable. Played around with the jetting a bit for a few hours last night and got it pretty well set except for that one lil bit at idle. Dunno either Changed the plugs and it didn't make a diff...

Just got my stuff in the mail last night. The nut that holds the flywheel on is stuck stuck... because I don't have a flywheel holder tool handy, I put it in 6th gear and worked with it like that -- yeah, I know, not the best way to get it off but without the holder tool it has always worked in the past. No dice. Guess I'm due for a strap wrench and/or flywheel holder, and a borrowed impact wrench. Oh well... was really looking forward to giving it a +2 timing for the weekend, too.

Its sputtering until it gets really warmed up. Then it seems to scream OK... A friend who's been doing the 2-stroke thing for a while mentioned that perhaps the stock gap was a lil too much and that it could be having spark issues at higher rpm, potentially, with a ported engine. Thats why I was asking... Didn't know what people run... or if people use smaller-than-stock gaps. Anyway, the reason I asked is because the high end kinda sucks until it is really warmed up. Mind you I run it really easy for a bit before I crank on it. It does kind of feel more and more like a jetting issue. Gonna go to the Stealership today and pick up lots o' sizes. The lows and mids feel fine.. so all that's left is figuring out the main jet (for now).
-
I've got the manual... says .028 to .032. I'm running a ported engine with Wiseco pistons and stuff, with the Toomeys and K&N and stuff. Someone mentioned gapping the plug a little narrower to help at higher RPMs and with a modified engine and stuff. The reason i ask is because of the sputtering at high RPM in my quad.. it is probably a jetting/spark issue from the sound of it but.. just trying to figure out all possibilities.
-
Oh, yeah. The size it came jetted as was a 220. Apparently these are sized up in 10 increments...? Everybody i asked and consulted w/ith said to raise it a couple sizes for the winter just to be safe so I dumped in a couple 240's. Just more info I forgot to mention... Me thinks that maybe I'm a jetting dumbarse...
-
My quad has like no high end until its really really REALLY warmed up. We're talking like 10 minutes of moderate riding at least before it will even think about screaming. I've got 240 jets in it now and am going to take a plug reading tomorrow. Its got the Toomey T5's, very very ported engine, large carbs (who knows why...), and intake. I have a hunch its jetted too rich. They're mikuni carbs. Can't check till tomorrow night though unfortunately Any ideas?
