  1. Had to peel a lil yamabond off of mine to find it after putting the new gear clusters in the trans a little while ago.
  2. The timing point should be the split in the cases. Mine went in with a little emry cloth
  3. Sweet its in D-town, maybe they'll let me pick it up in person and save on shipping.
  4. Thanks.. definitely not afraid to apologize, but, I don't want to admit guilt too quickly if there is a chance of getting it reduced by partially being in the right. Guess its difficult to say. Pretty sure the cop will show up. They'll have a vendetta out against anyone my age in a college town like this most likely so oh well. But hopefully they'll be cool and remove the points, as that's all I care about. A $80-100 fine... woopie. Just want the points removed so my insurance doesn't go to hell in a handbasket. Guess I gotta get the suit and conservative shirt and tie out, and get the humble attitude going again. Just kinda sucks.. thats all. Guess I'll just explain my side in as few words as possible, and if they flame me down for it, I'll apologize and be as humble as possible and hope for the best. Got the strategy! hehehe.. well sorta..
  5. You mount that winch up front, or on the seat?
  6. I wouldn't hate the 5.0 as much the people that idly complain to them about you guys riding that get them out there to chase you. Yet one more reason why its nice to have an extra set of plastics w/ different colors.
  7. Length: if its too short, prepare to bottom out most likely. Too long and they're preloaded pretty heavy. Bolt size: If the shock is too small (better), you have to drill it wider to fit the shee mounting bolts. If its too large, you'll have lots of slop unless you find a way to get a bushing to fit in there. Eye width: if the shock mounting points are too wide, you'll have to grind them down to fit. Too narrow, and you'd have to shim it (washers would be cheap and easy). Valving: If its valved for your weight, the quad's weight, suspension width, yadda yadda. Asking if it will fit... well, you just need to consider whats above. If you can find Pnaris shock specs and compare 'em, more power to you. The air shock idea is pretty cool though.
  8. Got a ticket today on my 900RR. Ran some stuff less than 1/2 mile from my house (too lazy to walk) to a friend in one of my classes. Turning onto this street, there's a barricade in the other lane but its not labeled so I didn't know why its there, what its marked as, etc. Its not labeled on the way in. Rode down the street, dropped the stuff off, and rode back -- behind 5 other cars. The barricade, of which I couldn't see till its too late, says "Road Closed" though its a small 10' hop around it in the other lane. By the time I could even see the sign there was nowhere else to turn -- and U-turns are illegal, bike, car, or truck. So i follow the other 5 for 10' around the barricade.. and pow, a cop is sitting on the street on the way back home, pulling each and every car over. Gave us all tickets w/o even asking. 2 points. If I get a ticket on the 900rr, it might as well be for going too damn fast or doing something stupid..! He gave me crap and was pretty jerkish about the "Didn't you even see the sign...?". I explained that I had come from a driveway down that street and not through the other end where the signs undoubtedly were, also, and didn't see the one on the way back until it was far too late to turn around and U-turns are illegal. He just got flustered, threw up his hands, and said "Contest it" and walked away. Stupid ignorant bitch. Oh well. I think he'll get 0wned in court. I was following the flow of traffic, responsibly, and doing the only other alternative would have been illegal and dangerous in any vehicle, and even worse on a bike. Plus for all I knew it was marked Yield and local traffic only or I certainly would not have gone back that way on the way out -- going around the block would have been fine. But, it was pretty stupid to have it that far up, past the furthest driveway, so that wasn't an option either. Ah oh well. Just pissed. If anyone has any traffic court tips or tricks to send my way... how to present myself (no lawyers in this one), what to say... what story to say.. yadda yadda.. send 'em my way. Just venting and looking for advice I guess...
  9. Having something to prop the rear end up on at the height that the shock is naturally uncompressed is the key. Then you just pull the two bolts, and one of the lower link bolts like BdBanshee mentioned and pop it out. I used 2 5-gallon pails and some thin wood pieces to shim it up to the correct height when putting my new one in.
  10. You can get a nifty vacuum pump from auto stores. Autozone lends them on their Loan-A-Tool program, also. I got one for like $20 a while ago for doing the front differential fluid on my S10 (no drain plug). It can also be used as a vacuum tester or pressure tester, depending on how you have it set up. Ended up being the perfect tool to run a leakdown test on my shee after the trans rebuild. Comes with a little gauge on it and all that stuff.. i think its good for about up to 35PSI or so. Looks like a shortened caulk gun, almost.
  11. I got some for ya, thecabinboy... "I wanna go to Hawaii, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!" "Beavers! I like beavers! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!" "boom boom boom ba doom ba... UGH... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!" hey lady
  12. I've got a Pro Design intake w/ K&N in stock box and no lid, currently, and am looking at that 2-1 Toomey setup. Seems to be the way to go. Led, you mentioned a waterproof outerwear? How much does that kill the breathability of it? For $50, that seems to be a great buy.
  13. "Hey laser lips, your momma was a snowblower!"
  14. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/sto...productId=48170 Not too bad.. only adds 10lbs. The ones i'm thinking of were more linear and portable.. lighter by a few pounds, but they didn't mount anywhere. That one would probably do ya fine though.
  15. You can get one of those handheld lever-operated deals. They're pretty light, and fit in a 6-pack rack easily, or you can find other creative locations to hold them while you ride. They seem to work really well. You'd have to have a battery or pretty darn high output stator to run one, and there's more additional weight in the front.
  16. Good luck! If the stockers are anything like Ricky's, they're soft metal and you shouldn't have any trouble hogging it out with a Dremel or other rotary tool.
  17. Whack it with a hammer, for sure! The ball joint separator tools work sometimes, but only if you're planning on replacing the joint and boot. They do wreck the boots. I tried to use one on my S10 balljoints (4WD.. spindle and hub were STUCK) and just ended up ripping the boot. Big hammer broke it loose.. just was really stuck in there after a while. Probably the same thing on the shee.
  18. Just filled up the 900rr on the way home from class. 35MPG, which isn't bad considering it was *all* city practically and I was doing holeshots off of every single traffic light possible. But, it doesn't make gas prices any better... stupid gas companies.
  19. Got a '94 Skidoo Formula STX at the parents place (Bombadier Rotax 583) and it flat out flies. Would pick the Skidoo over the P'naris a thousand times over... used to work at a Pnaris dealer previously, but still rode the Skidoo
  20. Washtenaw and Mason counties. Washtenaw is my current residence but usually riding up at the parents place in Mason county (first county north of Oceana -- Silver Lake's county). LOTS of farm land, grassy orchards, 2-tracks, and some woods. And some Consumers Power land when they aren't watching... We live <30 minutes from Silver Lake up there so lots of that sometimes, also. If any of you folks wanna go riding sometime, lemme know.. I'm game and don't mind a short road trip around the state every now and then!
  21. Yep. Not sure WTF is up with that! Got a new fuel pump for my S10 en route (bad sending unit on the current one) and so haven't been filling all the way up in case I have to drop the tank. Woe to me, running on 1/4 tank and prices jumped up like a mofo. Jeez. $2/gallon is just robbery. Riding the 900RR everywhere lately to save on gas.
  22. Yoda. Almost said Mr Miyagi though.. grasshopper.
