  1. I got a pretty decent discount on the billets and I think they look a lot cooler than the cast anyway lol. I figured as soon as I upgraded they would come through with an earlier release date.
  2. lol somehow I don't think anything will be "exploding." I pulled the check valve fittings and they fit just fine. Corey also sent a couple pics of the carbs fitted to their pikes peak 500 cheetah.
  3. On the banshee I guess so, I don't mind.
  4. Spoke with Corey just a little while ago, the issue is the large brass fittings are where the "tip valves" are to keep the carb from flooding when used on a dirt bike where it's laid over and flipped occasionally. He's sending me the plain barbed fittings to replace them with so they will no longer stick out as far, the carbs they run on their banshee's do not have the tip valves so they hadn't run across this problem yet.
  5. If you notice in the picture the carb is not lined up nor is it pushed into the boot. When fully seated the brass fittings the vent lines attach to will be trying to occupy the same space. If they had a sleeker or shorter fitting for the inside vent lines it wouldn't be a problem.
  6. It's not a big deal to me, I'll either get it worked out or send them back for a refund.
  7. Ran into a bit of a fitment issue. Not sure if I was sent two "left" carbs or if they've only ran these carbs on a big bore cheetah or twister that uses cr125 or 250r reeds and the intake is spaced further out. I emailed Corey about it so we'll see what they have to say.
  8. I get home today, they should be at the house when I get in. I'll snap some pics and post them, I may not have them on this time home. I'll be pretty busy.
  9. I upgraded to billets this week, they should be in by the time I get home from being offshore on the 17'th.
  10. I'm debating going with the billet after this update.
  11. There is a nob you turn a few clicks in either direction for initial tuning but temp and elevation is automatically compensated for to a large extent. The pre-order release date was pushed back from the first by the supplier. They will announce on the 16'th when the new shipping date is.
  12. I'm just waiting for them to finish their production run and to ship mine.
  13. No, I got two of the straight bore 38mm cast version. Spoke with Corey over at APT and that's what he recommended for a 421. With shipping it came out to 773 and should ship early May. If I were just running a single carb I probably would've gone with the billet version, but I didn't care to spend 1550+ on carbs just to get them a month sooner, 800 is already steep enough.
  14. I went ahead and put in a pre-order for the cast version. It'll be a couple months but I'll post back when I get to play with them, pretty excited to see how well they work.
  15. The 96 models came with duallys if you got the towing package.
  16. What style stock seat cover? They changed pretty much yearly, what color and style are you looking for? I would second just having Jeff make you a stock replica, very affordable and very quick.
  17. Glenyboy posted this link in the other APT thread. http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13471 Seems one of the members there is a rep or affiliated with APT and has answered a ton of questions and shared a lot of info. Plus the guy who started the thread is a neutral third party who has already tried the billet version and gives a good review. A good read if you're as interested in these carbs as I am.
  18. I have a set of stockers that are untouched aside from the bore. They're in great shape and far from last bore but I'm not looking to make a fortune off them, what are you looking to spend?
  19. "This is a one of a kind ATV which is not made by Yamaha anymore. Hope to find a good owner that knows the value in the custom work I put into this." It's not one of a kind, there's more than a few of these abominations floating around. lol I'd value his "custom work" of this at around - 400 or so. If I bought this bike I would have to replace every "custom" thing he has done to this poor banshee.
  20. The geometry of the spindles is different on a few levels, not sure of any downside or positive to that. I haven't ridden my bike in a long time, this build is taking ages but I've changed so many things I'd never notice a difference in bump steer from before. It's very possible.
  21. Thanks for the link Glenyboy. Good to be able to read through that thread and see a lot of positives and more insight to how the carb works. I think I will be trying these out by next summer.
  22. The spindles are aluminum and lighter than the banshee spindles, they are a direct replacement without modification. The hubs are not interchangeable, you will have to use YFZ hubs. No big advantage to switching over everything, I did simply because I had all the stuff.
  23. I don't like the moose throttle. The thumb lever seems to stick out oddly far from the bars and is uncomfortable at anything less than 1/2 throttle. I'd second the honda thumb throttle from experience. However, I haven't used the chariot or any other throttles for comparison. As far as the throttle throw, the 250R has a 35mm carb, should work fine for up to and around that carb size. I have yet to use it with anything larger than 30mm's but once my motor comes together I'll be trying it with 36mm lectrons.
