I was just responding to Windy's verbal diarrhea and absurd notion. Dont get me wrong, I still reccomend Shearers on certain builds...ask around. Which is a hell of alot more ethical, and " all for the sport" attitude than you trollers constantly put me through. I still promote Shearers on certain builds, even now!...cut me some slack,I'm still doing Mat favors he doesn't even know about, while you swingers wear me out. I'm glad you like your Shearers! Theres a good chance I sold them to you. I didn't notice any whining when I was the first builder to post up dyno sheets on Shearers vs. the CPI's and other brands years ago. 97% of you didn't even know what a Shearer was until I,( yes ME) started promoting them HEAVILY on HQ years ago. Guy Larson (Inland ATV) and I, put Mat well on the road to where he is NOW...still waiting on the thanks....think I'll get it? You would be better in tune if you knew the whole story, Ill spare you. And you might also throw a few comments around yourself if you had been the one buying $30K worth of a product line at a time, frequently, and having to answer the phone to get your ass chewed out a couple times a week, pay for freight cost for people( at no fault of your own), dig through tons of boxes just to hand pick a set of pipes that you HOPE your customer will accept happily, and hope he doesn't bash you on the web. Hell, Fouldeout got a set of Shearer OOf's from me that were boxed wrong, he used them for a few months, discovered they were not what he ordered....He called me..I replaced them with NEW correct pipes, I ate the loss on the used pipes, paid the exta freight,.. took care of Shayne, and shrugged it off. I've more than done my part for the ethical treatment of you guys(even when the fault of the matter was not my doing).....why dont you return the favor...Jim

NOT.. one set of Sniper Assasin's returned for ANY reason to date, and NOT a single warranty claim. Certainly diffferent than the days of yesteryear, when I was OVER-RUN by dissasatisfied customers on the line of pipes I USED to PROMOTE,.......... and the manufacturer tried to dodge responsibility every time on making it right.. what a nightmare.....glad that's over with. Windy, you seem to forget that I was the "go to guy" on your preferred pipe for sometime. I'm in a much better position for clarity of accurate comparison than most.....Jim

Everything being built currently, and everything in plating is SOLD. sorry for the wait, these are all hand built perfection....not wham bam heerya' go units...Jim

It's either a scam, or somebody calling their pipes " Sniper". There are not 4 sets sitting anywhere ready for shipment. They come straight out of plating to the customer....Jim

Congrats on all the wins this year Brad, not to mention the class title..... that Cub of yours is just damn nasty. I look forward to 2 class titles next year, your DMX is on the bench at this very moment..it will be equally as impressive. Also, thanks for putting me up when I was at BBDR this year, you have a great family, and It was nice to meet you . BBDR is kick-ass, it's not every day you get to see 2-300 bikes show up to race, not to mention getting to watch 1500HP nitro-methane bikes run in the dirt...you guys are fearless......keep up the good work, and thanks for your support over the years....Jim

Chances are its a lazy pig that will detonate itself apart if Trinity set it up.....seriously. Beyond impressive is within your reach easily though, if re-configured.

How many >>>>>>500ft <<<<<<<DIRT drags on required KNOBBIES have you timed yourself on? I suspect none. Most 100hp banshees barely run 5.0 in 300ft in the dirt with knobbies. The scenerio on this track is MUCH different than sand drags with paddle tires. MPH is critical on this track. In any case, whatever ones belief, it wasn't until he started breaking the 100mph mark that he was able to shut down methanol DM's on the bottle with a gas cub. That says more than enough for most. Effective traction is out of reach for anything over 80HP on this track, even at half track... but were always looking for more, as we should....you cant even compare the two types of racing, they even require two totally different styles of engines...Jim

Much more information would be required from you to answer that question in its entirety. After that was obtained, then dozens of calculations would have to be made after inspecting and mapping your exact cylinder, or doing modifications to it in order to meet your goals or needs. The good news is ...... is that there is an exact answer, but it will require a professional to calculate it, and provide it for you...Jim

Its probably just leaking slightly around the drive gear on the clutch side,,,they all leak slightly around the key slot . You can seal it during assembly with Permatex ultra-black and it will take care of the issue.

Yeah RZB, those Everlast IGBT 250EX's are the best kept secret in the TIG world. Phenominal price, you cant trip the duty cycle, highly portable, and more adjusments than mortal man deserves. I absolutely love mine...Jim

Dave, 10.5 trapped CR is 230psi at sea level ...remember this was specialty watercraft stuff...totally different element than the Banshee world...this trapped CR is not reccomended on a Banshee....Jim

Aviation fuel is rated differently than automotive fuel in some regards. Im no chemist ,but 100LL will give more detonation protection than automotive 100 octane. Aviation 100LL has a lean mixture octane rating along with a rich mixture octane rating. Not sure what its limits are in reality, but Ive exceeded 10.5 trapped CR in watercraft engines without detonation on 100LL....Jim

Not in every case Phelps, I know of 2 cubs ....one is a 4 ,and the other a 10 ,that both outrun 4m DM's on alky, and the 10 is on gas. Dont assume anything, some people would run them on goat piss if they thought they could get away with it.

Not that I know of, but I may be wrong. But I do know of a 465cc Cub that pounded out 113.78HP@63.38 lbs tq. on GAS! LMS1977 and maybe a few others seem to think the numbers are low on the 554DM, they are right. When Chris had me build this engine, he opted out on the larger carbs I kept advising him he needed. Even after he had a few dyno runs under his belt, he called me concerned with the output numbers. I again, advised him that the higher than normal intake velocity, and only 74 percent cfm efficiency ,put the engine in a situation that it just could not pump the air needed to make the designed power....the air simply wasn't there to pump. At that time I offered to loan him my 44 Lectrons, just to prove my point. He declined and a short time later the bike was stolen...again Chris, sorry for your loss. And mine too, I felt like the project was incomplete. With custom reeds and 44's Chris's 554DM was designed to make 126HP@9800RPM ON GAS. Due to the mentioned issues, it never had a chance. Below are two charts showing displacment vs. RPM vs. carb size. These were the calculations I made and mentioned at the time of the build....Jim All calculations made in the listed charts are based on SAE standard engineering equations

Oh ,so now you know the answer for the dyno discrepency and the mystery loss of 13hp. Well, your correct. Im glad I waited until you hung yourself out to dry to comment on it. But wait, what happened to "thats all it made on the ATV dyno"? lean maybe?... UHHH load,? ...uuuuuh, proper load to build the heat in the engine for a particular pipe design,?..... uuuh, a load that more resembles an actual operating condition maybe? How about a simulated load that builds the heat required to reach a designed state of tune? Your correct about the load, too bad you didn't just state that info from the start for people that dont know any better...you talk out of both sides of your mouth John, which is just another indicator of your bias at any cost. Whats sad is you have the ability to sort out the data, but would rather just spout out anything that supports your personal preference. I still reccomend the Shearers and CPI's where certain conditions / variables exist...do you? In reference to denial of comments being made on your part about Snipers making more power on any engine, this is what you actually said, QUOTE.........>>>> " But the reality is it was developed on a Passion 421. So I'm not sure I'm willing to except that the Sniper pipe slapped on ANY motor is going to show the performance gains we have been told about. "...... The term "Not sure I'm willing to accept"(sp correction of original quote) ,.....would tend to indicate, and proclaim ,a refusal to believe what youv'e been told....only problem is, you've never been told that, not by me anyway, and you know that as well. Piss on the HQ members heads John, but dont tell them its raining! ..........Give it up, Im not a wise target....Jim

LOL...at least YOU pay attention.I just mentioned it J-Madd, I dont depend on it...you know my philosophy

John your hostility is obviously over-riding your objectivity or willingness to observe and absorb data. As for your repeated reference to the D+M dyno, is that a matter of convenience on your part for evidence, or is that the best you can come up with? The first question I would have had is where did the power go and why? The Shearers make the same number on each dyno, but we lose 13 hp due to whatever reason on one dyno and you just take that as factual data. Without an A/F chart on either pipe, or knowing exact gearing etc. ,I wouldn't even care to guess. It is pretty obvious something was out of whack on the D+M runs concerning the Sniper. Its easy to tell that when you look at the other sheet. When the overall curve is so simular using both sets of pipes, it's safe to say it holds more reference value...even if it doesn't support your intent. Its also safe to say, that I personally could have tuned the Sniper to be on top through the entire run easily. So, if you throw that factor in , keeping objective usefull interpitation as a guideline would serve you much better. I wont even go into the intake resonance mismatch of an undercarbed engine vs. pipe resonance and its effects on power output with you, that would require more typing than I care for. But an overall performance evaluation of this particular engine isn't even possible because of it. What is possible to notice , is the Sniper making 3+ more HP than the Shearer and more tq. as well, along with that killer over-rev your probably partial to on the same dyno. No, not the same day, but it's more usefull data than a obvious over-sight at the D+M dyno runs since the curves dont even look like the same engine on the D+M dyno. Over-all the data is just another tool to look at. Ill close with a request. Show me anywhere Ive said the Sniper will make more power on any engine...it doesnt exist. Go back and read everything Ive posted. Many forum members can contest that Ive stated to them personally that its not a match with what they are running. I would like to think that my willingness to give up a sale holds more value than shoving them down anyones throat. I would think that alone should at least merit an open mind on your part.....Jim

Not sure who this first question was for but I can answer it. The 465cc engine making 113 and 62 was developed well after this build and was a balanced set-up. The 554cc DM was extremely under carbed making intake velocity so high that it literally choked itself out on the big end. Basicly the engine had the ability to process much more air, it just couldn't overcome the choke point in the venturi. Jim

SB ,Banshee332 has been passing around a set of unplated inframes for inspection. They are currently in Long Island ,New York with Wacko2000. Contact Brad(banshee332) if you want to arrange that type of thing. The fit and quality have pretty much established by several of the forum members. If your engine is a high end runner, they may suit your porting as well. The desired format of engine has been well described in earlier posts. You might ck on that to get an idea if your engine falls into the design criteria as far as performance expectation is concerned. Also, I owe you an apologe on a personal level, and I also aplologize for some of my other outbursts on the forum....Jim

I call em like iI see em' .Honesty works both ways fella.....prove me a liar on anything. People throw trash around in here like it standard protocol. Throw factual science back at them and it just gets uglier....Jim
