  1. NAPA sells the cylinder plugs and you can just replace the outer rear studs with factory Yamaha inner rear studs...much better than extenders...definately more professional....Jim
  2. The 795 series pistons compensate for the rod length on 115 mm rod length cranks, not the stroke. 110mm rod 4mm cranks use the 513 series pistons. The additional stroke itself has to be compensated by either domes or plate. Either set-up requires porting mods to obtain full potential of the additional stroke. And larger carbs makes a huge difference along with appropriate pipes for the port style....Jim
  3. You should first try to forecast where you want to end up at with your list of mods. HP is very addictive and most people keep wanting more and more as they go along. First of all, REAL HP requires porting pure and simple, and a pipe that works best on stock cylinders will not be as effective on modified cylinders. If you think that down the line you will want this type of mod, keep that in mind on pipe selection. If you will take the time to make a quasi-accurate prediction on where you want to go with this project, you will end up with better results and save a ton of cash in the long run. Otherwise you will just be swapping back and forth and and draining your wallet constantly. Just be honest with yourself in the beginning and it will make everything else fall into place much easier and cheaper....Jim
  4. If your carbs are in sync and slides, cables etc. not sticking...sounds like a classic air leak, most likely crank seals, but could be base gaskets, reed gaskets. A major air leak makes the engine think the throttle is cracked causing poor idle, unstable and climbing idle speeds, slow engine decell, overheating, and in worst cases, engine speed runaway....Jim
  5. I have a new factory unit if you need it or I have the new Boss Racing billet units for $175.00....Jim
  6. Save yourself some cash and forget the big bore part of the stroker equation. You can build a ton of power everywhere on just stock cylinders and 4mm stroker crank. More speed than you'll ever need and a ton of bottom end power if ported for that purpouse and reliable as well......Jim
  7. 2 gallons of gas with non synthetic oil at 32-1 to start off with...refrain from all-out top end runs through 6th until you have used the 2 gallons up. Keep an eye on head and cylinder fasteners and retorque after 30 minutes of riding. Forged pistons should be warmed up every time you ride the bike until you can feel heat through your gloves 12 inches away from the exhaust port on the sides of the pipes..otherwise, cold seizure may result. After that, mix up your favorite synthetic at reccomended ratio and rip it up and terrorize at will.....Jim
  8. If your engine is even moderatly ported, for off the shelf pipes, nothing even comes close to a Shearer for top-end..even CPI is a dismal 2nd....unless you consider some of the builders that are just stamping out versions of Matt's designs and calling it there own creation...Jim
  9. Last couple of weeks have just been insane....I have a few calls to return tomorrow. If youve called, Ill try to get back to you tommorow. SIM card on my phone seized up and I replace my phone but can hardly operate it. If you need anything, send me a PM or email.....Jim
  10. PassionRE

    Coolhead

I have a used PD aluminum Ill sell for $100.00
  11. The Vitos standard rod 4mm cranks are absolute JUNK! Go with the Wiseco crank....Jim
  12. Ive been a step-dad for 17 years and I would have done alot of things different if I could do it over again. You need to talk to your girl in advance. Its better if you act more like a friend than a dad or you'll just be percieved as a dick. Only real dads can get away with that without paying the price. Let your girl know that you want to be his friend and your not trying to replace his dad(you never could anyway regardless of what a loser he might be because the kid still thinks he's a God). Also tell her that youll cut some slack on the kid, but you must have her solemn word that the kid doesnt over-ride your authority.....ever..otherwise youll be in damn sorry you chose this road in life if she doesnt back you up....Jim
  13. 927 definately smells faster than all the others
  14. You have to zero the bore gauge with a bore gauge fixture or hand held micrometer to the target size. Then when you inset the bore gauge into the bore, you can see how much over or under the cylinder bore is actually measuring in different locations within the bore.....Jim
  15. Hot MX port, Noss head and 18 cc domes and a pair of CPI's or Shearers and that 450 owner will be embaressed to be alive. Were talking spanking of a lifetime....Jim
  16. Agreed, MX style porting is your cheapest, most effective way of producing "real" bottom end hit on a 350 crank....and your gains elsewhere in the rpm range are tremendous in the least if done correctly.....Jim
  17. Motion Pro has them, they can also be ordered through MAC tools.....Jim
  18. Serious ass kicking pony's can only be obtained with port work and proper pipes, along with a few other odds and ends. You can bolt on your ass off and spend much more money and not get near the gains as a set of good pipes and porting alone.....Jim
  19. A bone stock Banshee is rated at 143.8 BMEP@7000 rpm. translated 55 crankshaft hp or 44.5 RWHP@7000 rpm...they will rev a little higher but make peak hp at 7K...Jim
  20. Stay away from Vito's cranks...they are absolute junk...Wiseco 4mm long-rod definately...795 series Wiseco pistons with stroker domes or plate and appropriate porting for what your goals are...see your builder for advice. You dont need the bigger carbs but good God do they make a difference in pucker factor when matched up to the right pipes for your porting.....Jim
  21. Nobody's discrediting anything here my friend, Ive stated more than once that Rockets are a fine pipe and many will back me up on that. Several people are pulling big numbers on Rocket pipes. If you go to the main page youll see the words " The internets #1 Banshee resource"....my post was just an extension of what that means...information...take it or leave it. Considering that engine was built to a spec of 75hp@9700 rpm Id say the Shearers complimented it very well. Just because its a Passion 12 port...doesn't mean anything...12 ports are available from one spectrum to another in output. Dont think every motor I build is the highest HP motor available from me, not everyone wants that much power. BigWill has a 80+ hp gas 350 motor as we speak and thats not even the radical stuff....Jim
  22. Loco, I suspect the Shearers would be damn sweet on your cubs for sure....Jim
  23. No Jeff, standard issue Shearer inframes. The CPI's fall right between the numbers of those two pipes with exactly the same low-mid readings as the Shearers. That particular format just doesnt like Rockets...others have had good results with them...Jim
  24. Tested on a Rec/drag 12 port 4mm with PJ34's, V-force 2 , Boss intake , 20cc Noss domes...Jim
