got1banshee: I planned a Little Sahara trip in 2001, No one that I know of from the BHQ joined. All of my trips are planned at least a year in advance, and this has been going on since 1998. Stan: As the date gets closer everything comes together. For New Years this pat year I had a banner made and just may do it again this year. We will have a place to camp since I have a few Dumont veterans on my previous list that will give me dam good directions as to where we will be camped. Last I knew there was only one long dirt road in and from there I dont think you could get lost. (unless your as bad as my wife) Not to worry... since 90% of the guys I go with have HUGE F'n motorhomes/toy haulers I can give you descriptions and plate #'s. Who knows... we may be able to get honda helen hung up somewhere for you to find

Stan: Why are you worried about a place to camp? I told ya there will be a BUNCH of us already getting together. If your that serious about joining us, then I will get you exact directions to where we will be and what vehicles to look for. I may even get another "roostfest" banner made up for this trip too. Duece: You dont play at the big hill anymore? The group I go with doesnt hang at the "hill" all day and race.... we take fast & slow dune rides depending on who is in the pack and their abilities. As of right now I'm looking at 1100.00-1200.00 for round trip. YUCK! But,,, Its WELL worth it! My wife found us round trip airfare to Vegas and back for 400.00+\-. I'm going to be reserving the motorhome hopefully this week, and that should be around 600.00 for 5 days. YIKES! I just added all of that up...... Phew. Stan: Get yourself a map, hop your ass in the truck and GO! I've made several long dune trips solo, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. How far are you from Vegas? You could always meet us there on the 3rd (wed evening) or Thursday morning, and follow us out. (i know ya have Vegas) Make yourself a list, then prioritize whats on the list. If ya bring everything on the list that is needed, then your all set. If ya forget anything.... Im sure one of the guys in my group will have it. (except for banshee parts) This is the 5th or 6th large dune trip I've planned, so if you have any questions........ just ask Justin: I've been told its much taller and steeper than China Wall. Just get your ass out there and lets have fun!

Stan: Its because we live with a bunch of tree hugging hippie mother f0king idiots. They have actually passed a law in the state that makes it illegal to ride on YOUR OWN LAND. (noise, nusance) I heard a few months ago that there was a proposed plan to open some state land for riding.. and that was shut down FAST! Some old MX guy at the southern end of the state had roughly 200 acres that had a small MX track and a shitload of trails. He decided to make it an "off road park". Before he was even open to the public, the state came in and "tried" to shut him down. When they didnt have a leg to stand on, they decided to block the "private" road to his track. Yes thats ILLEGAL. They started giving him all kinds of shit as with anyone that was riding there. They started handing out tickets for un-registered atv's even though they were on private property. Let's just say that his dream of owning an offroad track is now just a memory.

fel0n: Thompson dam is off limits to atv's but when has that ever stopped anyone before? There is NO legal land in Ct... and I dont think thats going to change anytime soon. Your not to far from me by the way.... maybe 10 minutes Great looking shee too! You should check out some places in Mass to ride... October mtn state forrest (near Pittsfield), Monson Mass, Montague Mass. Southwick Mass (not the track). I also just found out that there are a bunch of guys that set up a 1/4 mile strip in Springfield by some old shopping mall (boston road) every sunday to race. I think they are now done for the year due to the FRIGGIN cold weather. There is also some trails out behind my house, but again thats illegal too (catch me if you can) hehe

The only place LEGAL is Rocky Hill MX track (after you pay) I have been told about a place in Thomaston (thomaston dam and is owned by US corps of engineers) There used to be a state forrest out on the R.I border, but that has since been shut down too. I have been told there there is some riding out on the NY border by New Milford, but again thats illegal too. Where in CT are you from, and is that your shee in your avitar?

Duece: Whats 200' when your already up 1000' Why dont you join us and give us a guided tour?

Banchetta: Wallrat is correct... Buying a chromed out banshee on the west coast is insane. He would be better off buying a new one from Alba out there. The "hills" are more than that... Like someone stated elsewhere... I think comp hill at Dumont is close to 1000' ! If you still have a stock lenght swingarm then I would highly suggest putting it on. The shorty will be too short. What do you have for paddles? A whip is a MUST. Those can be purchased out there. One thing I have to say... Dont be mad at me after you go! I have to say you will never want to ride locally again It's a whole new world out west

hehehe yea I met some of those "women" that night.... One was scary as HELL and she would have had to put a gun to my head first.... Load up and head out the next morning. I'll be towing a small utility trailer w/ my m/h too. I think its a 2 hr drive +\- from Vegas. Get your shit in gear and start planning it!!!! Time to do it now and not wait until the last minute. My airfare is already paid for, I'll be reserving a m/h next week and setting up to ship my shee too. Ok let me see what I can do... My wife and I will be landing on March 3rd. Duning from Mar 4 to the 7th and then hanging in Vegas until the next saturday the 13th. I planned on shipping my banshee to a friend of mine in Vegas and I will see if he can fint another. His garage is full now of toys Lets see what we can do!

I know I'm early but I know a lot of people go to the family/friends for the holiday. The lucky ones go to the dunes while the rest of us wish we were there. I'm just wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday! Play it safe people! Eat lots, drink plenty(just dont drive) and enjoy your friends & family!

Ship that thing out dude!! Thats what I am doing! I dont know how much room I will have in the motorhome but I'm sure I'll be able to fit another bike on the trailer I will be using. We got round trip airfare for 500.00 (2 people) I land in Vegas, pick up the MH, and the next morning drive out to the dunes. Paddles are a MUST! Lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NYUK: I've shipped a few myself. I've always used UPS. All I have done is small chunks of cardboard over the sharp points. (grab bar brkts, fender brkts, upper steering loop, frt fender brkts, and some at the base. Sometimes I will even wrap that w/ shrink wrap. I also tape a small piece of cardboard to where the seat goes for the UPS shippiing sticker. UPS then charges extra since its oversized and heavy. I think the last one was 70.00-75.00, and I will be sending one to Meat soon so I will take pics of it for reference. Incase you need to ship another one in the future.
