  1. Stan: I DO have a supplied air system AND suits I can bring... but if it gets that bad.. I'll just burn the m/h and let them collect the insurance I dont think you will have to drive 35+ miles back to Baker to drop off the kids... If ya need it that bad your more than welcome to use my m/h
  2. couldnet you just do that with bondo? no strength what so ever with bondo... Bondo is a FILLER for imperfections and is used for appearance only.
  3. I would hate to be behind the guy that rides over that!! That puts a new meaning on "I'm gonna roost the shit out of you"
  4. bigboy: Use your bike as the mold. mount the tank and everything where you need it.. Bag up the rest of the bike. Now duct tape the tank around to the radiator. Make sure you have several layers, and make sure the tape is tight. In other words dont follow the tank at the upper frame loop... go right from the radiator to the gas tank. Once everything is taped apply a thin light coat of resin. Lay some sheeting down over than and use a brush to pull the resin on the tape through the sheeting by dabbing it w/ the brush. Slowly build up the sheeting and apply the resin in light thin coats. Remember the strength is in the sheeting NOT the resin. One thing to remember... If you used YOUR plastic as a shell or mold... it would be too big and not fit where you need it too... Think of how a mold works... and right now the plastic on a shee came from a mold. If you molded the stock stuff it would be too big and wouldnt fit the shee. I just built a custom set of door pods and kick panels for a chevy pu (stereo system) The first set of kick panels were ruined when my friend cut the wrong area... we decided to make another set rather than fix these. The old set I tried to smash w/ a hammer to throw away... and I couldnt break them. I ended up cutting them w/ a sawzall So do it right and you will have a very strong set of plastic
  5. BenBB: I offered Stan... NOT the whole group! I may even revoke Stan's offer if I find out he has been eating any mexican food.... No shit stops before bed either... cause I am not going to bed at night smelling someone elses rank
  6. Stan: Something else you may want to look at is the lower a-arm. Take some x measurements from side to side off of common areas. Check the top and bottom. If you have a way of holding the bike down or to something (from the rear) then I would use a strap and maybe a come-a-long and "give it a tug". Or if you know anyone at a bodyshop that will let you use their frame machine for a few hours.... Chain it down and give it a yank. Sometimes it helps to give it a tap w/ a hammer while its under pressure from the pull to lock the steel molecules in that position. Dead blows work great so you dont ruin the finish/chrome. Duece is right... Everyone puts on these big badass parts. Normally the weak link in an accident. Now that weak link is replaced, the weak link is now moved to the frame or other more expensive parts
  7. Duece; Did you have to say that.... If my wife reads that its all over... She's gonna be looking for it now Stan: There are NO facilities. Your going to be at the base of Death Valley... what would you expect? The closest anything is back at Baker approx 35 miles away. Maybe I'll charge you a fin to dump in my motorhome hehe **mental note #87263423 Do not camp near Stan and his 5 gal pails** I dont believe there is a dune fee, but maybe a camping fee. All the rules are on my page for this trip www.roostfest.com/rf04.htm
  8. Justin: They get removed a short time later w/ a special pair of pliars. Lets just say that when they are put in place... they dont do it nicely. 3 of mine went deep enough that they actually went into my skull... So when they were removed.. it was not very pleasant!
  9. Ohh hell. thats plenty! Are you on dial up or high speed internet? reason I ask is doing updates/SP1 once your done installing. I can give you most of what you need but once your done you will need to do windoz update for security updates. email me ur addy and I'll start burning you cd's tonight
  10. I tried using SpyBot Search and Destroy yesterday but it wouldnt clean the files. When I would press the clen button it would take me to its homepage saying I could own it for 40 bucks I'm using Windows 98 it's a piece of crap and I desperately need something better for this computer. Can ya hook a brutha up walt?? YIKES! Sounds like you have a mess there... Last I knew spybot was free to use.... Hmmm tell me some specs about ur PC? At least a 500mhz? at least 256megs? what size hard drive? get me your mailing addy and I'll send ya plenty....
  11. DAyyyummm! Didnt anyone ever tell you NOT to bail? Crashing is bad hehe Hope ya heal fast. The first few days are the worst... I had 15 staples put in my forehead a couple of years ago and that wasnt fun at all! Good luck homie!
  12. I have done lots of glassing in the past. and I will add my opinion. For you to have something thats strong enough, it will be HEAVY. Much heavier than stock. Do you plan to glass over the stock plastic or make your own? I will recommend against glassing OVER the stock plastic and heres why. Your going to apply a hard and brittle product over a soft pliable one. I also think you would have adheasion problems but thats a whole diff ballgame. Now if you plan to make your own.... You will want more glass sheeting and less resin for strength. Just resin is very brittle and will crack/break easily. If you have any more questions feel free to ask...
  13. Lefty: go to www.download.com and do a search for Spybot search and destroy. Or click Here Im sure this will take care of most of the problems... What OS are you running? Win2k? XP? If either I would try running system restore. That has helped me in the past on friends machines that got screwed up from them doing the wrong things If you dont have XP...... let me know... I can hook you up
  14. Yes 100LL (av gas) is leaded. NO it wont hurt your motor! I too have been running it for years. NO problems AT ALL! Tip: 100LL burns differently than pump gas, Race gas burns differently than pump gas, 100LL burns differently than race gas, ect ect ect ect........... 100LL will actually burn COOLER then pump & race gas. JETTING changes MAY be necessary when changing ANY fuel. This topic is just like a ford vs chevy debate. Run what YOU feel comfortable with. On "MY" bike I am able to run MORE timing advance than if I was running race fuel. Does this mean race fuel is bad? No. Does this mean that 100LL is the best? NO. ALWAYS check your jetting when making any changes.
  15. check your email cameron.....
  16. Give me a measurement of the intake side of the carb. (diameter) and I will get you the right part # You may want to buy the ones w/ a 5 degree angle since the carbs are pitched upwards from the intakes. The angled filters help by aiming them back down so they dont hit the seat.
  17. What design is the stator cover and how much do you want for it? Can you post a pic too. Thanks
  18. Chase: Hit the spindle where the ball joint goes through. I do the same by backing off the nut almost until its off but I dont hit the nut/balljoint itself. You can ruin th threads that way. If you hit the spindle a few times the tie rod/ball joint will basicly fall out. You wont hurt anything that way either, so dont be affraid to give it a whack!
  19. VERY very nice! Have anymore pics of them? Great job
  20. banchetta: I'm not saying it was filthy.... and were all not going out for a banshee show & shine. But it's a good thing to throw some water and soap at it every now and then. Hell.... Johnny wanted to wash it for ya, he felt bad for it and he hates banshee's And no your shee didnt look that bad! 600.00 isnt bad for shipping... I just wish my shee was 3" shorter Since you run +2+2 a-arms you will have to ship the shee w/o tires & rim mounted. I am making a small jig for my shee to sit on that will bolt to the hubs. That way I will fit the width and lenght. You may need to do the same. As for jumping comp... hehe Lets just say I'd like to see it Ive been told by many people that Dumont is mostly razorbacks so I'm sure jumping wont be a problem! Duece: I dont think rocks are attracted to the skids.... I think its all a mindset. With a skid plate most people dont think twice about hitting a huge rock. I went to a state forrest in western PA a few years ago. I was told skid plates are mandatory. It was just about rock crawling more than riding. I ran no skids and never had a problem. Almost like banging a chick w/ a jimmy hat... You think your safe but your really not. It may sound and look expensive to make a trip out west like this and it is... Its just cheaper to ship then drive. And if you have ever seen the way Banchetta drives... it would cost him 2000.00 in gas, another thousand or two in tickets (if they let him keep his liscense) but he would get there in about 2 days. He was close though... Its only about 3000 miles for him
  21. Meat: I hate everything about winter... Cold, snow, ice, ect. I drive all week for work (800+\- miles a week) You would think that everyone else on the road that has lived in New England all there life would know how to handle the snow. Nope....... They are all clueless. As for this storm..... My shee is ALL apart. The cases will be split today and the cyls are on their way to Oregon as we type. I sold my truck on monday so now I cant even play in the snow. I dont ski, snowboard or care to do anything in the snow. I guess I could take our back up car to do a few reverse doughnuts STLBILL: I'd box up all of it and send it to you if I could
  22. Banchetta: Since your shee is much shorter than mine you could get yours shipped round trip for around 600.00-700.00. As long as it will fit inside a crate that the Maximum inside dimensions 61"L x 44.5"W x 44"H . One other tip... give that baby a wash too! Make sure the radiator is clean too. I know someone that went from Pa to Cali and burnt up 3 top ends before he realized that his radiator was plugged solid w/ mud Duece: Im not afraid to get roosted or to get my shee dirty. I'm going to have fun.. not be some priss I've never ran skid plates in the past 10 years. When I had my rear skid it would get beat to shit, since I removed it... I just watch where I ride and dont have any problems. I guess Stan is just old and cant move as fast I feel sorry for old people
  23. I know you guys love all this white sh*t.... I like it too............when its in pictures. This is the first snow storm were getting this year, and I'm already sick of winter. I hope their predictions are off and we get missed.... but from the looks of the inch of snow on the ground now... I'm fuct. Bahh humbug!
  24. Sheesh... Some action on this topic today Ben: Senior executive bank roll? Where? Only way I can afford this trip is to plan way in advance. Here is a map for ya! I would say its where the "star" is hehe Dumont Map!! Stan: My shee will be a trailer queen too... but I'm not afraid to give it a lil hell every now and then. I run no skid plates either. Ya just have to watch where the hell your going Banchetta: Not to worry. Your name will be on the list tonight I havent had a chance to get much done lately myself. Have fun on the cruise while all of us are freezing our asses off shoveling snow! As for the m/h.. I just reserved ours the other day. I can give them a call to see about upgrading to something larger. I'll talk to the wife and see what she says about sharing w/ more ppl Blue_duece: Great link/pics! I have a lot of respect for desert racers. Dont get me wrong, the MX guys have a shitload of talent, but you need a set of nads the size of a grey hound bus to do 100 mph+ at night. A local guy for me has been doing the Baja for many years (trucks & buggies).... Some of the stories he would tell me just made me wonder wtf this man had for brain cells left. Its something I'd love to see and whitness but I'll pass on attempting myself Anyone else ready to dune???? 89 days, 15 hours, 57 minutes, and 21 seconds left until ROOSTFEST 2004 Dumont.. and I'm NO where near ready! Motor is all apart (down to bare cases) Plastic is not even prepped for paint yet... and I still have to schedule the shipping.
